I was selected to be a County, State, and Congressional district Delegate!

(I have never felt so empowered, and happy that I live in Colorado!)
-------
In my Precinct Caucus tonight (in Colorado) the preference (beauty) poll came out as follows:

McCain 22 (numbers in people at the caucus- not pct)
Romney 19
Paul 6
Huckabee 2

However, delegates where selected based on what the other people in the room thought of you (as an individual) (after you had a chance to speak), and how much knowledge and passion you displayed.

I gave my speech (which was supposed to be under 1 minute) - I talked about Sound Money/Monetary policy, fiscal responsiblity, respect for the constitution, small govt, and low taxes (and how they relate to the colorado way of life) being the most important issues to me.

(basically no one knew who Ron Paul was, and what idea's he had - NO one understood how the Caucus worked)....

I never had to let anyone know what candidate I supported, they voted based on my thoughts and passion as an individual and my willingness to represent them in the state/congressional/national convention.

I won the county vote, the state vote, and the congressional district vote (by quite a bit). I am now a delegate in each - at each level I can be selected for the national convention (so I've got a good chance).

In colorado no delegates are bound to 1 candidate, so I can vote however I want.

I'm voting for RON Paul!

Another Ron Paul supporter was selected as the other State Delegate (a Romney person got the other Congressional district delegate spot).

So in terms of delegates for my Precinct:
County - 2/2 (each Ron Paul)
State - 2/2 (both Ron Paul)
Congressional District 1/2 (1 for Ron Paul).

I'm hoping all the other precints had similiar results.

(DON'T believe what you see on TV!)

It was truly Amazing - I didn't know the other Paul Person (who became a delegate) but talked to him quite a bit afterwards. Also talked to the sole Huckabee supporter in the Room and we actualy talked about monetary policy for quite some time -- I know I could have converted him very easily (but that doesn't really matter now)

I WON - Paul Won, We Won. Now it's onto the County, State, and District meetings - where I will hopefully become a national delegate!!!

** One major thing we have to do as a Party is to promote the Caucus system (one modeled after Colorado) as much as possible. It was incredible!

Some tips from tonight - that I think won it for me:
1: I dressed in a suit, I looked like I could've been walking into a board room.
2: I sat up front and made conversation with everyone.
3: I volunteered for a commitee position (to promote repubs in my county)
4: I was respectful to everyone, and at each chance stated my name and that I was excited to represent my city and state at each level.

fantastic

bump, I wish Oregon had caucuses but I will still try to become a delegate
in hopes of the slim chance of voting RP in the 2nd rnd.

consider running for congress

Morlhzd that's the best news I've
heard today.

Please consider running for congress
or at least a local office.

I Have a Similar Story

I was elected as a delegate from our state House District to our state GOP convention and volunteered for and was elected to serve as our district's primary representative to a state GOP committee. We, too, have an uncommitted caucus that selects delegates to the state GOP convention.

The founders of our nation feared a pure democracy for good reason because they knew ignorant sheeple are easy manipulated and bamboozled into voting for evil men and tyrants. That's why we pledge allegiance to the flag, of the U.S. of A, and to the REPUBLIC for which it stands...

Although the party system is not in our Constitution, I believe the caucus system is closest to what the founders attended where informed people who really care would show up and decide which candidates to support as candidates for higher office. That way you can meet your fellow voters in your precinct face to face. Primaries, especially "winner take all" ones, are for the lazy (intellectually and otherwise) and uninformed.

I'm disillusioned to read all of the sour grapes and flaming of the GOP. The people have voted and we collectively will get the President we deserve (not necessarily need) come January. If the "Ron Paul Revolution" is only about electing Ron Paul, then it's a really shallow revolution.

No one said waking up the sheeple would be easy. Dr. Paul was not forced to run in the GOP, he chose to do so. As Dr. Paul has said so many times, he (and we) represent what the GOP has traditionally stood for, despite the fact that the "majority" is currently voting for candidates who will perpetuate the warfare/welfare state while promoting the CFR's "New World Order" and one world government.

I will faithfully honor the pledge that I took when I was elected a delegate to our state GOP convention. I will continue to support Ron Paul and promote the values we stand for and support like minded candidates at the state and local level.

The Ron Paul Revolution may not make it to the White House this time, but the best way to honor Dr. Paul and the sacrifice of his time and effort all of these years is to try and make the revolution stick at the state and local level, particularly where he did well.

If a large number of Ron Paul supporters abandon our delegate seats that we fought so hard to earn, then the forces we're battling will in fact have achieved total victory. It will make all of us look like a bunch of sore losers and crybabies that can't be taken seriously because we take our toys and go home when things don't go our way.

If Ron Paul decides to mount a third party run (unlikely) or the grassroots organizes a write-in run, either with or without his consent, I will support that. If he doesn't, I will probably write him in anyway.

Lastly, even CNN is showing Dr. Paul with 16 committed delegates so far and the race is only half over. The Libertarian and Constitution Parties, as much as I agree with much of what they stand for, can only envy how many votes and delegates Dr. Paul has garnered in a GOP where the national organization and MSM stacked the deck against him. Realistically, we would never make it this far going third party.

Thank you to the Ron Paul supporters who aren't quitting the GOP, but are continuing to support and advance the ideals of the revolution despite any perceived setbacks.

A Caucus is the most amazing

A Caucus is the most amazing way ever devised to select a leader, both the minority and majority have an equal advantage. By making the Caucus as local as possible it gives the individual the most power to make a difference and feel like they matter.

A Caucus is to Globalization, like Ron Paul is to the One World Govt.

(not sure if that makes sense, but hopefully you get the meaning)

Great job brother...

It is hard standing in front of everyone and telling it like it is!

Colorado

We had a non-binding straw poll tonight in Colorado. There are many more delegate elections to be held before we know who wins. It must advance thru the County, Congressional District and then State conventions(in late May) before the National delegates are chosen. I was elected to the State convention tonight and will only vote for common sense in May. We have only just begun to fight...

Ron Paul wins Colorado?

There were about 20+ c/s delegates in the ron paul limo tonight

almost every report I got, Colorado dominated the delegates

highfives* god bless. stick

highfives* god bless. stick it to em! ftw, this is how elections should be done nationwide. lets just put sacks over their heads and let them speak through a voice distorter. everyone votes on the same day. Have it be a double blind as well so the people counting the votes for the shrouded candidates dont know which is which so there can be no number switching. Wouldnt that be an interesting system.

if it truly turns out to be McCain and Hillary, id rather choose the bee/ant caste system honestly. so thank god youre shooting for the gold with our man ron paul where it counts.

Today made everything worth

Today made everything worth it for me. I feel like everything came together - the absolute best results were obtained at my local Caucus. I've been on some type of political high ever since it ended.

I really wish everyone/ every state had this type of approach. It is really empowering to win your precinct based on all of your neighbors (in the city/town you live) voting on what you present/speak/represent to (instead of what they hear in the Media).

The Colorado Caucus system is an amazing tribute to individual freedom.

Ron Paul made this possible for me - I will never forget, and I will never vote for anyone else that does not have his sense of idealism/passion/etc.

I have also become incredibily discouraged from the national media - It has become disgusting and will mean the end for our country.

Fantastic work. Congrats!

Fantastic work. Congrats!

We are winning

In the most exquisitely subtle manner :)

J/C, which CD and city/county?

Used to live out there in somewhat-sane Colorado.

"Welcome to 2008: The Year of Ron Paul!"

I give you a virtual handshake

I'm proud of you man, seriously keep fighting

Bump this

This is so encouraging and educational. All of us need to understand this and how we need to present ourselves to be successful. Keep up the fight, it ain't over til a very fat lady sings (whoever that is).

Healthnuttie for Ron Paul

Yay!! What a way to

Yay!! What a way to Represent!!
