The Mouse that Roared: Why Ron Paul Won the Election
Originally posted by Romang.
In his blog today, Doug Wead (the historian and political operative who coined the phrase compassionate conservative) writes why Ron Paul won the election. Coming from inside the beltway, he pays tribute to Dr Paul's vision and the revolution and explains why it will eventally win. This is a moving piece coming from a place where we have normally been ignored and even repudiated.
It is an important sign that we are winning. It also shows how important Dr. Paul's book will be.
The Mouse that roared: Why Ron Paul won the election
February 6, 2008 by dougweadWell now, Republicans say, we have a nominee. That may very well be but there was only one clear winner in the confusing GOP nominating contest and it was not John McCain. The winner was Ron Paul. And the effects of his win will be felt for years to come.
Ron Paul made a classic political mistake. He told the truth. In debate after debate he pointed at his party, his president, his fellow contenders for the GOP nomination, shouting aloud like the little boy in the proverbial story, “they have no clothes” and lo and behold, we looked and they didn’t. They were all naked.
He showed that the conservative movement has lost its way, its moral authority and its logic. He showed us that we have become a red team versus blue team. That since we have decided that this is a political war and all normal rules are suspended, conservatives can do liberal things to win it. Conservatives can run up big deficits if it helps their side win. They can dole out needless pork if it elects another “conservative” to congress. They can go to war if it makes their president look like a leader and wins him another term.

Don't you get it?
Well, dougwead, I love you but you just don't get it. The Bush's and Clinton's have been partners since Bush Sr. was smuggling cocaine into mena Arkansas on CIA planes. (Note: Obama is also a big coke head) Their conspiracy to make a one world all Powerful Government (the new world order) involves one partner getting beat up by the media for 8 years for violating the Constitution and not doing anything the people want, then the other partner gets beat up for 8 years - for doing Un Constitutional things the people don't want, then the other partner gets it back. It is time for a Clinton to get it back, and the REPUBLICAN power brokers WANT TO LOSE!. Duh.
Consider Bush/Clinton like the fake wrestlers on T.V. they pretend to fight, but are actually partners, and the fights are all well planned out.

DR. Paul and being free
When I first heard Dr. Paul speak, I thought that I was hearing Andrew Jackson! I wonder how many out there really understand or can comprehend what it is, or would be, to be totally free!?! I fell in love with what Dr. Paul is saying. I, and my late wife, Carla Emery, used to travel this country giving talks on modern-day homesteading, trying to instill in people the desire to live as free men and women. People used to ask if I could change one thing from today to what was, the answer was always, and still is, the same...I would take us back to the time when your handshake was your bond...a time when everyone was responsible for their own actions - and accepted it! Dr. Paul and his message is the epitomy of what I'm saying. I would like everyone to truly try to imagine what it would be to be TOTALLY FREE! Then, convince your neighbor and family to help Dr. Paul achieve this. I pray that I have offended no one, but have stirred some inner juices.

Thank you for your heartfelt reply
LIBERTY is a BEAUTIFUL word....and REALITY.
The awakening is happening and is only growing.....this is a great day to be living.
I am sure that your late wife is smiling down on this revolution too.

The winds they are a changing. Now that the Republican party does not feel the warm breath of Our Man down their necks, they have started to acknowledge the validity of his sound advice and opposition. Our movement must remain in the Republican Party cause like it or not this country's politics works on a 2 party system. RP has said that he shall remain spreading his fiscal conservative sense as long as people support him. Yes the man's a "back bencher" but so was Churchill for many many years. That does not stop the movement to continue the education of our national electorate concerning the Constitution and Sound Money. Our Movement has started a People's rejection of industrial feudalism, that promotes a tiny aristocracy of mega-rich to exploit "their" native populations of serfs! Ron Paul leads the "loyal opposition" in the Republican Party. Odds are exceptionally good that a Democrat shall sit in office. The Republicans had their chance and squandered their opportunity like fools/NeoCons. People, allot of people stand to loose terrible if this country becomes a dictatorship. The educated elite have noses and can smells the stinch of internal domestic oppression. This party's going into the opposition in both the executive and legislative branches of government. When the defeat comes, and its a coming cus i can hear the locomotive roaring down the tracks, Ron Paul and OUR movement can lead the opposition and rebuild political responsibility and integrity that our peoples so desparately need.
Very well put

Grass roots strengths and weakness
I invite your to examine this link:

Ron Paul has cured my apathy. BUT FOR HOW LONG?
Paulites such as we "our" get get ... get excited with an idea who's time has come. Entrenched wealth at no time in history has ever volunteerily given up their "priviledges". All people have rights, its just that the powerful have more rights than others. "Others" that's US.
Folks our passionate support of Ron Paul surprised every body. Its important to understand that all movements experience ups and downs successes and failures ... its the nature of the beast. Super Tuesday was a disaster for our locomotive. Take my hands let's get up, dust off the dirt, and move on. Grass roots has the most power locally. Ron Paul gave a speech in Minnisota with some 4000 in attendance ... but did it help him to win the state? Or any state in the Super - Downer Tuesday? Therefore we have to recess the strength of our movement. Ron Paul opposes Fed involvement in the Local Schools. Can grass roots do something about this on a local level. Ron Paul teaches that our civil liberties our threatend. Can grass roots take charge of our local police? The movement OUR movement its bigger than this election. If we have removed the shakles of apathy, then its essential for us to understand that this race that we got ourselves - with our our free will and choice - qualifies as a marathon rather than as a dash. The MSM want to program the sheeple to "vote" for only a short period of time. Then its back to the state (approving violence "thunderbird, fury" for names of cars; coupled together with pornagraphy that degrades human perception of the dignity of women, they "our" after all only SEX OBJECTS) to condition its serf populations of "our" stupidity and ignorance and that we must obediently obey are god appointed all wise CEO lords.
post super tuesday ron paul movement
I would like to postulate a law of political theory.
There has never been a successful violent revolution.
The "American Revolution" occured as a rebellion against British rule. A revolution involves a war of brothers against themselves. The civil war was a revolution that used slavery as the henge which swing the states rights strategic issue. The south pulled out of the Union and relied primarily upon the strength of military success rather than diplomacy. The Confederacy failed to involve "outside forces". Had Britian, for instance, recognizwd the Confederacy all of europe would have followed suit. The Yankee navy could have never maintained the blockade of Confederate ports and would have failed to destroy the Confederate economy. The PLO their people's war against Israel has correctly focused upon diplomacy and the political weapon. They de escalated the conflict locally while at the same time made it global! Guerrella warfare exists only as a tactic, a people's war has to involve much much more. If we could get the BBC or some foreign paper to denounce MSM or some other foreign intervention into this struggle this would serve as a devasting blow that the enemy would have a hard time to counter or retaliate! As a revolution of the people its in OUR interests to oppose a government, be it locla, state, or national that cooperates to harvest its populations like a colonial imperialist interventionary power harvest the yeild of the host native populations. Bottem line: this is OUR fight, Ron Paul serves as our teacher and leader but the "class"/nation its OURS.
Ron Paul is too old to fight alone

Some reflections on Ron Paul '08
I've been trying to figure out why Ron Paul didn't get the support we all feel he deserves, and I think I know. He said it himsef - "My biggest regret is that I haven't spoken forcefully enough for freedom."
To put it simply - the guy needed to differentiate himself from the other candidates, and if history has shown us anything, the way to do that is to be adversarial and just call bullshit. He tried, but he didn't give us the sound bytes. He didn't crucify Hannity on live TV, and frankly, given the chance, I WOULD HAVE!!
I realize that this, in large part, just isn't in the doctor's character, but that's why he won't win. People want to vote for a fucking WINNER. We need a manchurian candidate for constitutionalism, you know? A clean cut silver-tongued handsome independently wealthy young sonofabitch who can crucify pundits in a tenth of a second on any issue, any time, any where, in a handful of languages, but who shares Ron Paul's political ideals.
The message is powerful enough to carry you to a point, and I'm not at all detracting from it, or from Ron Paul's service and his willingness to take the message all the way to the convention. I seriously hope he gets out there and sets the stage on fire while the world watches.
But in order to make such a radical departure from the mainstream of politics, I think we need a fundamentally superior candidate - one who'll simply destroy the logical fallacies of the MSM in pithy soundbytes that are just too goddamn good to ignore.
Ron Paul seemed content to look baffled when asked tough questions about hypothetical (and real) national security concerns. He needs to show an understanding about the nature of conflict and aggression - a speedboat presents a very real threat, even to a US battleship. The message, for all it's virtue, will never appeal to mainstream conservatives if it isn't delivered more forcefully. He doesn't project the image of a winner - timidly asking for more time at a debate? Getting caught off guard? Come on, man!
We need someone who's principled and truly believes in our cause, but who's not afraid to get in there, mix it up, be assertive, and WIN ARGUMENTS. Ron Paul is a great man and a great candidate, but he'll never gain mainstream support without understanding the psychology of conflict and being an aggressor. America wants winners.
Some reflections..
over your reflections:
each person has his/her own personality.
Dr. Paul came across forcefully at times - when needed and did destroy the logical fallacies in the other's argument, when he got a chance to speak. It is difficult to answer in 30 seconds.
He is a doctor with military airforce experience (and not a lawyer...are Americans not tired of lawyers who know how to spin things?) as well and communicates honesty, calmness, intelligence, reasonableness etc. One can misunderstand mild-mannerdness and professionalism as softness, which is not the case.
The problem he is facing is that he acts like an "opposition" within his own party, about the war especially. If say the Iraq war was started under a Democratic government, it would have been much easier for him to rally the whole GOP behind him.
The person with the best arguments do not necessarily win all the elections.
I think Dr. Paul makes a very intelligent impression and smarter than all his opponents combined. Dr. Paul is an extremely kind person, and has a good sense of humor as well, but the people could not see much for that as it was/is not portrayed over the media. One should be friendly as well as serious. If you always complain and protest, many people will start to think you are negative and that is a total "put-off" and disastrous, no matter how kind you are.
McCain is the worst debater (think he admitted it himself). What helps him is he is a known person and attracts people just by smiling and makes jokes, the same with Huckabee. During the last debate, Huckabee also did not get much speechtime, and he protested, begged for questions for than once. He was the media start in the beginning when the media liked him (they know he would loose easy against any Democrat, therefore even the liberal NYT pushed him). Just in the few minutes Dr. Paul had, the cut through the essence of the issue.
Dr, Paul has created so much enthusiasm through his speeches (and will still in the future). it is not only the anti-war sentiment, otherwise Denis Kucinich would have had a strong following. Dr. paul is also still very smart for his age, he does not show it, while McCain looks like his 96 year old mother Roberta (and worse).
I think Dr. Paul needs another charismatic politician that can campaign with him, and state the same ideas in his own words. Sometimes people just like another face and it will give new dynamism. I do not know how Gary Johnson's personality is, but he would be - as former governor, be a good addition, also Barry Goldwater Jr (although he is not in active politics anymore).
Only three winner take all states left
A Brokered convention is in the math!
1,191 delegates are needed to win. 1,142 delegates out of 2,380 have already been pledged. McCain is still over 600 delegates short. There are 22 states left to vote. The good news is that only three are winner take all (Virginia, D.C., and Vermont). That means the worst of the winner take all is over.
The key is to stop McCain from hitting the magic number of 1,191. The Paul campaign knew this a long time ago. The Huckabee people are waking up to it. The Romney people had been hoping to avoid it, as they are better connected in the business and Mormon worlds than inside the Beltway, and I can see him dropping out when he gets tired of pouring more of his fortune into the race as he is rapidly running out of states where he has personal connections (Michigan, Massachusetts) or relatively high Mormon populations (Utah, Colorado, Nevada, North Dakota). In fact, the only state where he will be a lock is Idaho (in which Paul will also do quite well), and maybe Nebraska and South Dakota. He’ll probably spit the delegates pretty easily with the “big three” in Texas (where Paul will also be a factor), Ohio, possibly even North Carolina, and boy will everybody be giving a lot of attention to Pennsylvania when it rolls around. Oh, and I am forecasting that Romney drops out of the race (or at the very least does poorly in a brokered convention setting). So them who gets his delegates? Not Huckabee, and not McCain because both of them are anathema in the eyes of a Romney devotee, especially since the pair are perceived as conspiring against him. Plus to the degree that his delegates are Mormons, who are well known to be very libertarian leaning, Dr. Paul could really pull a shocker.
Out of the winner take all states, McCain probably takes Vermont (17 delegates) and certainly D.C. (19 delegates). Virginia (63 delegates) is probable at this point, but not a lock. If the conservative vote coalesces around either Huckabee or Romney, things could break either way.
The prospects get a little dimmer for McCain after the winner take all states. McCain can only win states that go blue in general elections for the most part. So he will probably do very well in Maryland, Rhode Island, Oregon, and Hawaii. In all likelihood he’ll win (but probably not as smashingly) New Mexico, Wisconsin, and
Huckabee will certainly win Mississippi, and he has a good shot in Kentucky as well. After that the states he wins gets nebulous. This is good news for Paul, who has arguably underperformed in southern states. He’ll also do okay in Kansas, and could at least pull his proportional share in Texas, Nebraska (which is very Iowa-esque), Indiana, Ohio, and maybe North Carolina.
*Ron Paul already has at least 42 delegates. We need to remain positive RIGHT AWAY so that he doesn’t lose traction in upcoming states very soon where he may pick up more (Washington, Louisiana, etc.)
**IF WE CAN GET TO A BROKERED CONVENTION, ALL BETS ARE OFF!! Abraham Lincoln became the nominee after walking in with virtually no delegates, and eventually taking 39% of a four contestant vote.
Be Ron Paul

Lesser Evil Voting Prevailed
I feel sad and glad at the same time over the results on Tuesday. On the one hand, I expected a stronger showing and thing Lesser Evil Voting won out, on the other, I got to vote for a principled man like Dr. Paul and I am no longer part of the problem.

Ron Paul will WIN! We will WIN!
Yes - RP Won on Super Tuesday - but not your way
Sounds like Doug is trying to get RP supporters to pat themselves on the back and then run away from the campaign feeling good. Nice try Doug. Here is the truth - RP won on Super Tuesday and he will continue to win until he is inaugurated.
yes and no
I don't think Wead is telling supporters to go home. on the contrary , He is delaring that the future is ours. Remember he is a historian and is documenting rather than convincing. I agree we still havev a great shot at the convention and we need to do our all. This is not an article that says it is done, it says it still needs doing.
Also, Wead is read inside the beltway where the message in his blog scares the cinnamon out of their oatmeal. Hopegfully it will help wake some of them up.
Now let's keep donating, talking to everyone we know and doing all we can to support the r3VOLution.
According to Rick Perlstein's book "Before the Storm" 1998
There is a lot of truth in what Doug Wead writes. According to Rick Perlstein's book about Barry Goldwater he says he had twice the volunteers as LBJ in the 1964 election .Perlstein also states that 66,000 individuals gave to JFK and Nixon in the 1960 election while 1 million gave to AU H2O in 1964. Barry AU H2O lost 44 states, but his message stood the test of time ushering in the Reagan era.
The media, truth, money, and winning
The truth is that money talks. And it talks loudest for those that are in control of the situation and the game.
Think of this as a big game a serious game.
If you get in to a game of basketball, football, chess, or any game the first Thing you need to know is the rules. Does the game have judges, referee's, umpires or such?
This is the biggest game on the planet and the prize is control of the most powerful country in the history of the world.
And yes we have umpires, referee's, and judges.
We are on the Ron Paul team and we believe that Ron Paul is the best man to be elected President (and we are 100% right in our beliefs).
The problem we are having now is that we as supporters are still learning all the rule as we play.
We have now learned that the super rich believe that they own the game and resent Ron Paul and his supporters for being in the game. They want him out!
Lamestream media are also the referee's, umpires, and judges of the game.
We also have learned that the bankers, wallstreet brokers, and oil company's are in bed with the lamestream news media.
We also are becoming aware that the men behind the curtain ( )
not only dislike Dorthy, (Ron Paul) the straw man (Ron's supporters including) the tin man but also the lion.
We are learning about the men behind the curtain and with the internet more and more people are becoming aware that the emperor has no clothes and the curtain is no longer a good covering because we (Ron Paul supporters not knowing all the stupid rules) keep looking behind the curtain and we are going to help the nation understand the emperor has no clothes. and he is behind the curtain.
Because the Ron Paul supporters are naive and not understanding the rules but break the rules. Ron Paul knows all the rules and he breaks them anyway.
rule 1. Do not admit there is a man (men) behind the (invisible) curtain.
rule 2. Do not admit that the man (federal reserve) has no clothes (constitutional legal authority to counterfeit money).
rule 3 never question the men (lamestream media) and the food (lies) they (feed) tell the public.
We are in this game to win even if we have to follow our leader (Ron Paul) and admit that the war in Iraq must stop! Having the CIA kill leaders of other country's must stop! Torchure, & spying on Americans without a court ordered search warrant based on probable cause must stop!
Secret courts, and secret prisons must stop!
The truth is on our side. We must clean out this government. We wil win. Why?? I'll tell you why! Because we have guts, determination, and enthusiasm. The reason Ron Paul is not recieving any more votes is most of the public has not heard his message.
I have knocked on doors in my voting precinct. The black out of Ron Paul is working and that is the only (ONLY) reason he is not winning.
We learn by repetition.
Parents use repetition.
Schools use repetition.
Church's use repetition.
Advertisors use repetition.
Lamestream use repetition to sell the CFR candidates. For each time Ron Paul is mentioned (about twice a week) ALL the other candidates are mentioned morning, noon, and night 7 days a week.
This is to our advantage they are exposing each others weeknesses.
If we can hold on till the convention and keep the others divided.
We need to focus on delegates that support Ron Paul and even though he did not win Utah, if the delegates that are selected via our state convention want Ron Paul they must vote for Mitt Ronmey on the first vote but on succeeding votes they can change to another candidate. That is why we need to continue on and learn how to select delegates in each of our own states so on the second or third ballot he can win the nomination.
Not so sure if the super rich really want Ron Paul out.
Here is a conspiracy theory for you. The super rich want Ron Paul in, but the most of all, they want to convince the public that Ron Paul is it.
Why do they want Ron Paul? Because the dollar as debt based oil backed currency is done. I have a very strong opinion that the world economy will collapse around 2010, then all debt based and oil backed currencies will cease to function. The owners of the Fed needs to bring back a gold standard, but first, they need to convicne the public because the coming collapse will be so severe. NAU and Amero won't help. Those are joke. Neocons are pawns in this game. Of course, this is just my theory, so don't worry about it.
Whatever the case may be, I believe Ron Paul will WIN!
Nope. We need the "Common Sense" effect
Common Sense didn't plant the seeds of ideas that sort of eventually came to fruition in coming years, causing the political landscape to take on a slightly different feel. Common Sense came along at a time of political realignment--sort of like the RP movement has--and turned on a big light bulb over practically everyone's head--which led to definite action and immediate change or at least mass resistance. It was printed and reprinted spread throughout the colonies and became everyone's opinion because it was right. The key there was VOLUME. Everyone suddenly got it and made a decision to make a stand.
The Ron Paul campaign could create the Common Sense effect....Once people *get* the federal reserve, etc., it's sort of like when people "got* hereditary monarchy, etc. But if Paine had set out to mince words and gently nudge the existing political system toward hopefully thinking differently the next time they got a chance, there never would have been a revolution.
But the campaign would need to take off the gloves and start playing for keeps. It would need to put Ron Paul's message in the most compelling terms, and to circulate it like mad. It has the ability to produce this in DVD form, in written form, in audio messages, and it has the foot soldiers to circulate it like mad.
Instead they produce crap, milquetoast commercials, indifferent literature, and they roll over when Paul is abused by the media, etc.
This is a war, and as such we do need some top down leadership, so there can be unified, high impact action taken. The official campaign is in the position to make something big happen, but they're utterly incompetent.
It's HIGH Time For Some Common Sense...
I agree 10,000%!!
It's time to take the gloves off get off our asses and move out of our conditionalized caveman comfort zones and into the light of this New Day of Light, Truth, Freedom and Liberty that is dawning in our world. And I'm not talking about turning on any more lightbulbs inside the cave. We've had enough lightbulbs turning on. It's time to take this to the next level and GET OUT OF THE CAVE AND INTO THE REAL LIGHT OF DAY!!!
The beauty of this vision is that it's something We The People of the world can ALL freely receive, share and celebrate!! Super Duper Tuesday was a momentous victory for it removed, once and for all time, this BIG HEAVY stone that had been blocking the exit/entrance to this cave.
Over the past 24 hours this New Light of Understanding has been settling into the minds, hearts and souls of more and more and more of We The People on a global basis. This is NOT JUST ABOUT AMERICA ANYMORE!! Thomas Paine's "Common Sense Effect" is working it's empowering energy to the very core fiber of our beings.
Thanks to our Lord God in Heaven - who planted this phrase inside the Obama campaign - even the phrase "YES WE CAN!!!" now applies to We The People in this great movement back towards freedom and liberty in our world. The difference is that Obama is shouting this phrase while still standing at the threshold of the cave entrance while facing his subjects who are still lulled and mesmerized into a false sense of reality by the conditional downward-directed energies same old torch-waving controllers working behind the scenes. Anyone in their right mind who attends an Obama rally knows deep down in their mind-heart-soul that's there is no foundation to what is being shared. Why? Because the orator is facing the wrong direction.
Ron Paul has always stood at the threshold to the cave facing outward instead of inward. He has always humbly positioned himself to address We The People as if we were already "out there" in the wide-open air and light of this New Day of freedom, liberty, peace, justice and love that is dawning in our world. He's set the example for all of us to follow. He is the humble servant of this New Model of Peace and Justice that's beginning to manifest in our world. We The People who have been attracted to this message of peace and freedom have felt it touch our hearts and souls to the very fiber of our humanity. Once the light of divine truth implants itself so deeply there is no turning back to the old model where we remain in the dark conditional caves listening to leaders who masquerade as seekers and tellers of the truth on the surface, but sell our time, trust, energy and attention to lobbyists, liars and thieves out of the back door of the caves that have enslaved our minds and entombed our souls.
Today We The People stand at the threshold of the cave facing outward toward the light. Before us is an incredible site that's filled with green grass, flowers, trees, birds, bees and all kinds of beautiful animals, children and individuals who are singing, dancing and playing in the light of this New Heaven On Earth where this New Sun of Truth, Peace, Liberty, Freedom and Justice that is dawning in our world. Just like the average colonial patriots during the generation of our Founding Fathers, from here on out there's going to be a veritable rush of individuals exiting these old conditional caves. We know what we have to do!! Deep down we know it's NOT going to have anything to do with remaining in these caves. Obama, Hillary, McCain and Romney can wave torches talk and orate until they are blue in the face, but there's going to be fewer and fewer people who pay any attention to what they are saying for all the REAL power and REAL energy and REAL truth is with this New Model underneath this New Light that is dawning in our world!!
It's an incredibly GREAT TIME TO BE ALIVE IN AMERICA AND THE WORLD!! This global movement toward back toward peace and love is a Tsunami that cannot be stopped. "Tsunami Tuesday" was aptly named.
Just remember, the energy that resonates deep within the lover of freedom and liberty greatly exceeds the power of our natural sun. Each one of us has been given unique gifts and talents to reach out to help & serve others in ways that can potentially inspire and activate them to EXIT their conditional caves - defined by the limits of their fears and lack of undestanding - and face the true Light of this New Sun/Son of Truth that is dawning in our world. Ron Paul acts like a small - but very strong - hinges made of tempered steel that a can open the door to this cave and allow us to walk out freely with a new feeling of hope and gratitude for being alive in our world at this great time in history.
Have hope!!
Have faith!!
For We The People have won!! But we must exit the cave and begin to celebrate the blessings of freedom, liberty, peace, love and justice with great energy, attention, joy, love and much dancing and singing, etc.
Sorry about the rambling!!
This is what "Common Sense" is all about!! It's about sowing and lighting the spark of divine freedom and truth deep within our minds, hearts and souls! Let the celebrations begin on a massive global scale!! And let's be sure to have 500,000 to 1 million + strong descend upon St. Paul with Liberty and Justice for all!!
Peace and God Bless!!

Many are Sad
My neighbor was a hard sell on Ron Paul... tonight he sat in my living room telling me how sad he was with the election results ( his man didn't make it to the top ). Spoke about how most of the candidates all say the same, promise the same. He did mention a solid respect for Ron Paul. I told him not to fear because he's actually waking up from a long period of apathy.

No More Constitutional Lip Service. They can blabber and steal Ron Paul's talking points... but they can't stand on them..!
Winners Never Quit, Quitters Never Win
Every voter must check that their own vote was counted. The county election commission keeps detailed public records of every registered voter, and who they voted for in each election.
It's suicidal to quit while he's ahead getting free publicity in the GOP primary. Not until after the Republicon convention does he need to change to an independent. That's how Joe Lieberman got re-elected to the US Senate, running indy after the Demorat convention. Winners never quit and quitters never win.
The reason Ron Paul got beat yesterday is because most of his voters are doing nothing but voting. Voting is for losers, if that's all you do. 90% of precincts still have no precinct leaders signed up, and 99% of those leaders do nothing but wave signs.
Ron Paul campaign HQ has detailed training videos on how to win, which requires personally contacting 1,000s of voters in each precinct, 1st to gather intel anonymously to weed out hard-core GOPsters and DemoRats, 2nd to re-contact Ron Paul supporters and recruit them to work in the campaign, 3rd register Ron Paul voters in the primaries, 4th sell uncommitted voters, 5th deliver absentee ballots only to Ron Paul voters, 6th re-contact to remind to vote early or by the deadline, 7th stand at the polls on election day and handout RP info and recruit more workers, etc. Ron Paul voters must volunteer for poll watching, poll counting, and stalking whoever is delivering the vote totals, like Bev Harris does with a videocam. This is what winning candidates do.
Training Videos:

Another reason Ron Paul got beat is lack of a dozen cable access TV shows, pirate TV shows, pirate FM/AM radio stations, and licensed radio stations in every district. This is the only way to bypass the pythological liars in the media mafia.

Another problem is govt employees who are following illegal orders to vote for establish candidates under threat of being fired, which includes a huge voting block of most govt employees and their families. At the primary election yesterday I spoke with a campaign worker who was a 25-year retiree from a Knox County govt dept. He said that every payday he was required to pay 1/3rd of his paycheck to his boss, cash only, for 25 years. He was also required to campaign for his boss, and to buy at least 10 tickets to the GOP campaign party. He said this is the standard in Knox county govt. He was disgruntled after being fired by his supervisor who refused to work. Sound familiar?
Do taxpayers enjoy overpaying govt employees by 33%? He also complained that his govt pension plan was mysteriously failing to grow. This is explained by "churning" and looting the govt CAFR pensions, to reduce the net profit. Read a free copy of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (city, county, state, KUB, UT, fed), to catch govt crooks running 2 sets of books. the CAFR is the govt report on profits, the Budget is the report on expenses. Govt crooks use the CAFR as their personal piggy bank.

So they punched us in the
So they punched us in the mouth. Get up off the floor and fight back harder than before. There's nothing they fear more than his message reaching people in mass numbers. The very idea of people waking up to the truth is terrifying to the ruling elite. It's our job to wake as many as we can by Nov. 4th. It's not just a campaign it's an idea we're fighting for.

A Necessary Reminder
Thanks for reminding us that this is bigger than just one election and one man. Ron Paul is making an enormous difference in the political landscape. Questions are being asked that haven't been asked in decades. Conversations and debates are being held all over this country that have not been brought up in years. This is huge! The ripple effect of what we are doing this year, will be felt for a long time to come. It took years and years and years for "them" to take over this country, to turn socialism and fascism into the normal, prevailing idealogy of this country and we won't turn it around in a day. Patience and perserverence is the key and we WILL win. We have no other choice.
Pollyanna crap
I'm all for this movement, but I'm fed up with this Pollyanna crap...We're in this to turn back what our government is going to do to us, not to promote "conservatism" or fix the idiotic Republican party, or really, even to promote Ron Paul. We're facing overt fascism. No joke.
The official campaign is rolling over for all the establishment's hardcore abuse of Ron Paul--and of us by extension. Their commercials are crap, they don't complain, they don't get creative, and I think there's a reason.
Anybody see this?

They've been infiltrated by the CIA. If we don't address this, the Ron Paul candidacy is dead.

A Ron Paul convention speech
is the most important tactical goal. This speech will be like the ones he gives in Congress, not so much the ones he has given during the campaign. Instead of flying by the seat of his pants, he will have a carefully prepared message that draws on the insights and talents of key advisors and speechwriters.
What will that speech do?
(1) It will make the delegates ashamed of their party, and open to making it honorable once again.
(2) It will reach a large audience on TV and other media, including many who have never yet heard him speak. They will catch the fever, partly due to his words and partly due to the reactions of delegates as they applaud the core principles he wants to restore. We have seen this kind of reaction at debates in front of audiences of mixed loyalties, and the convention should be no different. A ripple effect over days to come could carry discussion of the event to many who never saw it on TV.
(3) It will provide a reason for many delegates to change their votes, and if enough do so there may be a second ballot (or more). Delegates who are obligated to vote for a particular candidate only on the first ballot will then be free to vote for Ron.
(4) It's a long shot, but there is the potential for these events to develop emotional and psychological momentum, to the point that Ron is nominated by nearly unanimous acclaim. Even some of the hard-core opposition will see an opportunity to purge their souls and redeem themselves by doing the right thing for a change.
(5) If Ron doesn't get the nomination, his appearance will at the very least fan the flames lit by this Revolution (Part Deux) to a degree that may let them engulf the nation in months or a few years rather than the decades most of us have been anticipating in this fight.
(6) I'd hope the speech comments on the concerted effort by the Lamestream Media to marginalize and ignore his campaign, and suggest to America that they are not well served by the corporate media. That could begin a dramatic shift away from dominant news sources to the internet and other alternatives -- a key element in greasing the skids for cultural and political change.
(7) I'd also hope he mentions documented instances of election fraud in these primaries, and call for an immediate and thorough purge of machines and procedures obviously designed for abuse -- and a purge of local election officials who have had things their own way for far too long.
In summary, we need a watershed moment at the convention during which Ron gives his party "religion" regarding its long-lost core principles and urges them to not let the real America die. There are many different things that might result, but all of them will be good.
you had me until documented election fraud.

Why
?
This just in ...
the same outdated registrated roll trick apparently implemented in California: see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWKxwVZmomc.
I haven't been watching this
as closely as many, but Bev Harris of Black Box Voting has video evidence of serious breaches of election security in New Hampshire ... for starters. Also, while this comes short of fraud, propriety is certainly a concern in Louisiana, where the party extended the deadline for delegates specifically to allow other candidates to overcome Ron Paul's lead, and where outdated party registration rolls were (almost certainly) purposely used to discourage new Ron Paul voters.
One more thing to watch closely: The Alabama Republican Assembly endorsed Ron ON THE FIRST BALLOT with a 2/3 majority, and the accompanying straw poll had Ron at 81%. Then the Super Tuesday Primary shows Ron with piddling support. Whassup with that?
This is a great Article
IT shows just how far the RP revolution has come. The fact that a candidate could spontaneously organize on the internet, and capture a consistent 5% in the primary elections, and more in the caucuses is truly amazing.
Its time to declare victory, and move on to the next game.
Those wanting to hold on to the last, much like the hapless Japanese on Iwo Jima, will end up wasting energy, resources, and the goodwill of the less ardent supporters of Ron Paul.
Well you can dash yourselves on the rocks of St. Paul if you want, but I will be looking for another cause in this long struggle.
It would be great to turn the power of this movement on another problem, like the real ID, but I'll be there with or without you.
Doug Wead Hit the Nail Right on the Head!
The GOP are phonies, and they don't believe in ANYTHING they claim to believe...Particularly liked the part about the "Also-Ran" who was defeated by the first woman and black to be elected to the highest offices in the land....hehehehhehehehe...
Nice
Nice article.

Liberty for Dummies
Regardless of what you "think," the article was high praise
So what if a man (or woman) wins an "election?!" What Doug Wead has eloquently stated is that Ron has now "transcended" a simple election, he has spawned a movement and a "thought process" in American politics. This is the stuff that "legacies" are made of, my friends!
This was high praise, well-warranted, but high praise nonetheless!

The Next freedom leader may
The Next freedom leader may be Chinese and his country may be China. Countries and leaders come and go but the libertarian freedom message grows. The question is, which country has the best conditions to expand the message and build upon it? It may be time for America to go and China to rise. Or the internet may make countries irrelevant. Maybe the next free-state is actually a stateless coalition of people connected electronically. In any case America has become a land of hooplehead masses, people with no skills, poor education and no savings. For now I hold Murray Rothbard and Ron Paul as my hero's.
Wait
This sounds like you are a globalist. I'm not sure if you are hearing the message. You sound like you are grouping people also, not treating them as individuals. Not sure at all where you are coming from or going to.
What a great piece!
I completely agree with this article! We still have several months to go! New people are coming aboard the freedom express every day! This is the beginning! We will be victorious.

THIS IS HOW WE WILL WIN.
I already posted this in another place, but there are two reasons why people who did not vote for Ron Paul did not vote for Ron Paul.
#1. They are simply repeating Old Media's chant like "He has no chance", etc. This is brainwashing. Even many Ron Paul supporters are falling for this brainwashing. NEVER, repeat Old Media's chant. Just ask anyone for the reason why he or she did not or will not vote for Ron Paul. Their reasons are not in their own words, but they are Old Media's chant. BE VERY AWARE. NEVER REPEAT OLD MEDIA CHANT.
#2 Some people just don't know about Ron Paul. BE VERY CAREFUL when you introduce Ron Paul to these people. NEVER INSERT OLD MEDIA CHANT like "He has no chance, but we still support him" etc. NO. We will beat old media brainwashing with our own chant. "RON PAUL WILL WIN IN THE MOST SPECTACULAR WAY!" Again, don't insert Old Media chant in this, like "RON PAUL WILL WIN IN THE MOST SPECTACULAR WAY even though..." It's easy to insert Old Media chant by saying "even though..." Don't do it. If you do, you are still brainwashed. RON PAUL WILL WIN IN THE MOST SPECTACULAR WAY PERIOD!
It's As Simple as 1 2 3...
Thanks for the chant...! We did things differently at a local 3 day event in Missouri and had really positive results in how we creatively promoted Ron Paul....

The Big Difference Between Then and Now
Goldwater didn't have the Internet. He had people like us, but no way to reach more people like us. After that MTV program last week, lots of NEW donors gave money. There are more of us out there.
If you don't think voters (and delegates are voters) can change their minds in an instant, you haven't lived long enough. McCain has been up and down and up, but he'll be down again before the end.
This is not over by a long-shot. Now that super Tuesday is over, the press will be looking for stuff to fill the airwaves and pages of their newspapers and we may catch a break.
(February is ratings month; I wonder how CNN, et. al., will do the rest of the month. One of them really ought to pick up the underdog story and run with it.)
But that doesn't matter. We need to push forward state by state. It's not over, yet.

F*%# THAT! I STILL BELIEVE that RON PAUL WILL WIN
IN THIS ELECTION!
Agreed!
