Texas Resources Redirect

James F. Robinson, head of the Texas #409 Meetup Group sent me the following note. I agree with his logic. Comments are appreciated.

I head up a meetup group in Texas (#409). I am redirecting our efforts from voter education more toward fundraising for the reason that by the time Texas holds its primary, March 4, the winner of the race will have been decided. Educating voters here will have no effect on the ultimate outcome; raising monies that can be applied to the campaign in the states that hold earlier primaries will.
I suggest this message be posted on your site.
Regards,
James

I`m not convinced that the
I`m not convinced that the nomination will be decided by the early primaries,I`m not convinced the primaries will decide anything. More attention=more money, more money=more attention...I say do what you want to, passionate people are inspiring. I don`t care who wins any given primary,I WILL NOT jump ship and support ANYONE other than Ron Paul.
I do understand the dillema "where is the $ best spent".....listen to your heart.

Priorities
Asking for the money is the very best way to know that a person has bought what we want to sell them. I see no conflict what so ever.
Who you support isn't the
Who you support isn't the target of this campaign's efforts. Paul already has you, his job and our job is the spend money to win over new people. Perhaps the nomination won't be decided by early primaries, but many people do make up their minds as to who the viable candidates are based on early primaries. A win by Ron Paul in NH or IA (more likely NH) puts him in the top tier, and after that it's time to spend efforts educating people. But before then we need to direct resources toward NH and IA because a win there is an uphill battle to say the least (the most recent two polls have him at 4% and 2%).
Both + Clean Up Crew
I agree that both Fund Raising and Education are important and the more you educate the more new contributors (of funds and spreading the word) will get involved.
I live in Kentucky - one of the last states to vote as well. I am hoping the earlier primaries can do well for RP, but I think this may be a close and very diverse primary. I am looking for the later states to be the ones that clean up the tail end. If there is not a clear leader in the early primaries, and this time around there may not be, then the later states will cast the deciding votes. There are too many things that may cause problems in the early primaries, like voter registration rules changing, etc. We (later states) need to be ready to give RP the last votes he needs. I would LOVE to see RP win the whole thing early on, but I would not count on it. There are STILL a lot of very strong forces fighting against what we believe in and want to happen.
It ain't over 'til its over. :)

Resources Redirect
Why can't we have fund raisers that educate as well. If you have a pig roast or flea market why can't there be a Ron Paul booth? Let's hit two birds with one stone.
Amnesty for illegals is coming, NAU is coming, there are
countless reasons to educate the voting public. Citizens need to be more active and vocal and learn ways to make a difference in this country, so keep up the good work and keep telling as many as you can.

Find information on your State - vote for Ron Paul and become a Delegate and or Precinct Chair!

Do you KNOW how to become a Delegate for Ron Paul? -- Do it!
Yes / no.
I myself am I big proponent of the multiplying effect. The more you educate, the more activists that get created, whom then work tirelessly to spread the message themselves. Raising money in the process. - Why give as much as possible of your own money, when you can do that - plus get someone else to donate all theirs? ;D
converts = money and resources
surely the more people you win over the more people are willing to donate time and effort for the ron paul campaign,
I think the only way that the quarters target is going to be reached is if you guys go out and double your numbers which is very possible and which also will have a tremendous effect on fundraising and activism
the whole thing fuels itself but by all means encourage giving and the likes
all things are possible
all things are possible
And write letters
I'm in an early state, but I know several people who don't want to get involved outside of the house. I am trying to coordinate a letter writing campaign for them. I suggest you consider it as well.
I'll post details about my plan tonight.
Education and Fundraising are connected
I wouldn't have started donating to Ron Paul's campaign if I hadn't gotten "educated" in the last couple months about what the value of libertarian principles, and the dangers facing our country as a result of pursuing imperial ambitions.
Current supporters can only provide so much money, will it be enough? Maybe it will. But, we'll still need to win more people to the cause.

Re: By all means possible reach the masses
Thanks for those who made the argument that once you tell a person about Ron Paul, he/she invariably converts (that's my experience), and then pretty soon he/she starts donating to the campaign.
Second, we all have family and friends in other states who have heard from us regarding Ron Paul. We're often on the phone with them, we e-mail them and we visit with them. So, a new Ron Paul convert has the ability to spread that enthusiasm to other states where the primaries precede that of Texas. Our Meet Up group in Texas has a goal to reach one million voters by year end. We are well on our way. Don't give up on reaching the masses, no matter which state you are in.
Yes and no
More voters will definitely equal more funds, but you can also raise funds without necessarily gaining new supporters.
One simple way is to throw a small house party. Charge a $10 cover with the proceeds being donated. Many of your friends will come just to hang out and help you with a cause you believe in.
