What's wrong with ronpaul2008 website?

It seems to be down often since Tuesday. Too busy? Upgrading? Hacked?

no problem here

I've been able to access it all day...I think...there may have been an hour here or there that I can't attest to...but every time I did try to access it, I had no problems at all.

Thanks for the reply.

I hope it is only my problem.

Hey I'm still having problems...

Anyone else???

When I try to go on www.ronpaul2008.com it usual says "Firefox can't find server at ronpaul2008.com"

However, if I type the address: http://74.205.85.12/ it usually works fine.
Also no problems if I type: http://people.ronpaul2008...

My apologies if it is only my computer problem and lack of tech knowledge. I want to make sure this is not a problem for other voters.

I'm on the site daily and

I'm on the site daily and never have problems with it.

The site appears to be hosted by RackSpace.com, or is at least on the RackSpace network. RackSpace is pretty much the best web hosting company available.

The campaign site also appears to be using a globally redundant DNS service as well, which is a very good thing.

Anyone having problems could be due to their Internet Provider's DNS cache. You can tell if this is the problem by first trying to access the site via http://www.ronpaul2008.co... and if that doesn't work try it via the direct IP address http://74.205.85.12/

If the IP address works for you, then it is very likely a problem with your ISP's DNS system. You can use a different DNS system if that is the case. See either http://www.opendns.com/ or http://www.resolvingnames... for some very good and reliable DNS servers to use in place of problematic ISP DNS servers/systems.

ISP censoring?

Definitely contact your ISP. In fact, anyone having problems should mention their ISP to see if there is another anti-RP pattern.

I am personally tracking ISP *censoring* of e-mail (as in blocking with *no* notice to the sender of failure).

Activists will no longer even accept AOL e-mail addresses. Juno and Earthlink have done so, as well.

Not surprisingly, it appears to be *conservative* e-mails being blocked, regardless of whitelisting/subscriptions.

Even when I forward posts to myself, Yahoo filters some to BULK!

I have tried to post to a RP Yahoo group at least twice, where my e-mail never made it (so I had to post throught the Yahoo group online).

Digg has eliminated a new "algorithm" so "groups" cannot impact rankings (how do you define a group with a program - seems to use "ROn Paul" mentions) .

I have had *zero* problems with the RP site and I check it several times a day.

ISP Censoring

I can no longer e-mail anyone with MSN addresses. This happened immediately after e-mailing three close family members info about RP. If one of those family members accidentally tossed my e-mail into their spam box, would that have banned my e-mails for all of MSN? I don't understand.

Fatima...how much do you know about networking?

Do you know how to run a tracert? It'll show you where your request times out. (which router isn't connecting)

I'll assume you're running a windoze XP/2K machine
--> click on start
--> click on run
--> type "cmd" & hit enter(No quotes..I'll simply put what you must type within them)
--> at the command prompt, type "tracert ronpaul2008.com" hit enter

OK...what you'll see next is a list of hops, times, and addresses. Look for the router that times out. Alternately, but unlikely, you may see a message that says 'Unable to resolve hostname ronpaul2008.com' In either case, Call your ISP technical support, and ask them nicely to forward that you can't get to www.ronpaul2008.com to a tier 2 support engineer/tech and provide them with the address of the router that times out for you if that is the case.

Good luck.

I know nothing

But this link works fine.

http://74.205.85.12/

I also followed the steps you laid out, and came up with a bunch of address looking things, but no 'Unable to resolve hostname ronpaul2008.com'

I'll have a more tech savy person try to figure it out tonight. Thanks for your help! I'm glad it only affects some of us. But I also wonder why.

try pasting this in your address bar

http://74.205.85.12/

At least you'll know if it's merely a DNS issue..

fatima

It's just you, contact your service provider...please.

call the campaign and ask

call the campaign and ask about your concern !

we all use different isp from different places, so we can´t know.

It's ok from here. Northern Nevada

Not a bad idea to track any access problems though.

ISP

Is it possible for the ISP to have problems with only one particular site?

I think anything is possible

I think anything is possible with computers.

But really only tour isp would know.

maybe your isp has support ? They should have..

It's not fine.

I agree. Here in New York it's been touch and go since Tuesday. I keep getting a message that it cannot connect to server. Then after sixth try it goes through...sometimes.

This is VERY bad

Imagine an interested voter doing a quick search and running into this problem. If I wasn't dedicated I'd just assume that Paul had quit running, or that his campaign was so out of touch that they didn't bother to tend the site.

It's fine

now get back to getting our candidate elected!

Ummm...

ronpaul2008 happens to be the top website for the Ron Paul campaign. Making sure that it is working IS crucial to getting Ron Paul elected. I take offense that you insinuate I'm wasting my time asking.

I continue to get this: "...can't find the server at www.ronpaul2008.com"

I am not having trouble with any other websites. What gives?

I have not been able to

I have not been able to access the website since TUESDAY,or maybe Wednesday as well. VERy suspiscious.
