We're Back In Business --- Romney "Suspends" Campaign!
Just when it looked like all was lost, WE'RE BACK IN BUSINESS WITH ROMNEY OUT!!!
Very soon Huckabee will also drop out and that will make it a 2 man race.
With only 2 candidates left people will at least notice Ron Paul, and when they finally notice him and look into him, he should be able to garner losts of support and maybe start tons of momentum.
People only need to know about him and his message, and when they are informed that's when he gets his support.
That's why he is so hugely popular with people on the Internet, because people on the Net are the best informed people around who know what the REAL news is and what's really going on in the world.

Back in business?
.
What makes you think the Ron Paul supporters ever stopped? We expected a lot of negativity, even made allowances for it. And, frankly a few got disgusted with the tenacity supporting Ron Paul required. But no, we were never out of business as a campaign.
You may have a point about people noticing RP if Huckabee drops out, but it is very important to keep kicking in a few dollars to the campaign, or else he will lose steam. And yet, many of the former Romney supporters are coming into our tent. That is a good thing. If/when Huckabee runs out of cash and withdraws, then maybe we will get more supporters.
But remember we still have seven months to the convention in St. Paul, MN. Much will happen between then and now. We have seen the unexpected miracle appear when we least expected it. The main thing is to keep on point, not lose faith and keep the message alive with everyone you meet, even strangers. Keep the cards and slim jims handy. Wear your cap, wear your buttons. Don't flinch. It'll be tough sledding for a while. We'll be fine.
BROKERED CONVENTION LESS LIKELY OR MORE LIKELY?
If McCain wins ALL of the remaining states, will he have the required amount of delegates ( I believe it's 1192) to win the nomination? He currently has 613!
Romney quits and Ron Paul receives more donations
Today, just after Mitt Romney announced he was suspending his campaign, the rate of donations to Dr. Ron Paul increased!
http://www.digg.com/2008_...
Mitt who?
I always get confused by all those has-beens who used to be running against Ron Paul. You know, like Tommy Thompson, Jim Gilmore, Mitt Romney, Rudy somebody...
Hey lets not bash former
Hey lets not bash former candidates. Lets welcome the suport from them! Work with us to restore the constitution and make America a better place. Ron Paul the only conservative left in the race.
True
Tommy Thompson and Jim Gilmore never did anything bad, so I apologize for slamming them. The other two, however, reaped what they sowed.
If their supporters have integrity, they will find Ron Paul with or without my help.
Mitt had more voter support
Mitt had more voter support than Ron Paul. Mitt is more conservative than McCain. It would be wise to not marginalize his candidacy by calling him a has-been, his supporters are right now looking for someone to support. The last thing they want to see is their first-choice insulted. They're furious at McCain for many reasons, from dirty politics to his policies. They are good conservative people and they need their first exposure to Ron Paul's message to be something other than us basking in the glory of Mitt pulling out.
Not everyone has been alerted to the fact that the money we use is fake, the war is waged for oil and they don't even realize they're not free.
If Mitt supporters are browsing and considering Ron Paul, welcome ... glad to have you here!
You're right
Okay, I won't marginalize his candidacy. But I will marginalize him as a human being and laugh heartily at the most expensive ego trip since the Spruce Goose.
I welcome Mitt's supporters. However, the man himself receives nothing but my contempt.
Romney suspended campaign...
and is retaining his delegates.
so how does it work?
He gets to choose to keep the delegates or give them to whoever he is going to endorse?
I hope he comes out swinging now
I know that Dr Paul's approach has been that of a gentleman. Maybe just maybe he has kicked into a somewhat more proactive stance if the CPAC speech is any indication of what might be in store for everyone now.
Sometimes it is the loudest squeakiest wheel that gets some grease. Obviously the MSM would like to 'anoint' McCain, and has done so on several MSM outlets, CNN, MSNBC etc...
Let's hope we all get LOUDER with the RP REVOLUTION!
Let's not pay too much attention to all that. I don't know anything but this: Hard work even harder than before is what is required. And don't forget more money for the campaign! Donate today...even 10 bucks will do...
Look. You're Wrong.
Like someone below said, Romney out is a bad thing. We could have had a brokered convention, and now, thats not an option. Romney did that to screw Paul over. Huckabee is in to claim a VP nomination, and Romney wants a chance at taking another run in the coming elections. The news is just going to ignore him more than ever now.
Romney suspended his
Romney suspended his campaign, but he's kept his delegates. Even if he said he's supporting McCain (which he probably won't), those delegates aren't officially bound to vote for McCain.
I don't think McCain will get enough delegates to avoid a brokered convention, even if Huckabee pulled out tomorrow.
Sorry, but your way off
Sorry, but your way off base. Many Romney supporters like ron paul in case you haven't noticed the threads from them here all day.
It's still about the delagates and no one has them sewn up.
What may come????
I hope there is a convention. It just feels like we are forced into this (McCain or Huck) and "WE THE PEOPLE" are having no voice, no thanks to the MSM!!! We have to be persistant!!! I would vote for no one but RP!!
Everything I read says
That the State party will redistribute the delegates. Since the people in control of the state delegates will not want a brokered convention (and since Huckabee will drop soon - maybe after being offered VP) - There is no hope of a brokered convention.
Please spend your time and money supporting RP republican candidates, and preparing to support a third party candidate.
Joel Skousen
SC_Conservative and bloatedtoad both have it right: Joel Skousen has the best news commentary and analysis in the country.
Period.
Now that Romney has dropped out, Ron Paul can't help but get more attention. Even if he doesn't win, it's all about getting the message out. I'm in this for the long haul, just like Ron Paul is.

keep educating people
keep handing out slim jims, educating people and keep running for the gold.
Yesterday an acquaintance of mine told me that Faux news is "fair and balanced" I laughed and explained my reasoning and also gave the constitution a plug in there too.
Keep telling the masses about Peace Freedom and Sound Money!!!!!!
when educating
remember humility and consideration for other's 'ignorance' goes a long way....
Golden Opportunity
Now that Romney is gone its time to redouble our efforts to core conservatives that wouldn't have voted otherwise. The primaries in my state were on tuesday, and I did vote for the good Dr, I encourage those of you who's state's primaries havn't gone yet to vote and tell everyone you know that was a Romney goer to vote for Ron.
That's what I find most interesting...
The neo-con talking heads have been very much opposed to McCain as the nominee. It will be fun watching them eat crow to promote him now since they will never back Ron.
So after all the "it isn't over, we still have the brokered convention to look forward to", are we ready for a third-party run? I sure would like to know before I contribute any more money that might not be able to be used...
This made me
laugh very much. Someone drops out because they didn't succeed and another candidate consequently succeeded and this means Ron Paul is back in business. This is hilarious. It's the kinda of logic you use to belittle something though this person actually believes it. Gosh, Romney is out because he realizes moron McCain is becoming the nomination. Huckabee seems to be open to joining Mccain to become the VP. That makes sense for them since Huckabee will bring the religious sect in. The only option left is for Paul to go third party. That is what he should be doing. He won't win but he also won't just be a message candidate. He is more than a message and less than a winner. He is essentially a healthy threat. He should run third party to hopefully maybe get the Democract candidate to possibly feel forced to adopt some part of what he is advocating for.
You are right
This OP being on the front page of DailyPaul is what is wrong with our movement. We not back in business, we are far far from it.
It's about diluting the vote, not concentrating it...how can so many people miss this fact and just spin random nonsense that encourages everyone to waste their time sitting on DailyPaul "hoping", "thinking", "visualizing" Dr Paul's victory.
Everyone who didn't run or nominate themselves for Delegate should be BANNED from DailyPaul. We have no strategy, just a lot of misinformed people who don't trust anything, do anything viable and therefore have irrational beliefs.
Wishful thinking? Perhaps, but it is not over.
Ron Paul, February 28th, 2008. There is a CNN debate.
Romney is not technically out so he still holding onto his delegates (that's why these guys use the term "suspending").
It is unfortunately that Romney is not spending his money to go up against McCain (he's not a fighter). But if (and its really a big IF) we come to a contest convention Romney's delegates are free to choose who they want (and it won't be McCain).
Lastly, Ron Paul now has a better opportunity of taking the remaining western states since this is where is strongest (both in $$ and volunteers).
Of course, no one has actually presented the facts of how many delegates are still up for grabs. Here is the breakdown (according to CNN.com):
McCain 714
Romney 286
Huckabee 181
Paul 16
To win the nomination is 1,191 and there are still 1,183 delegates up for grabs (all of this is an estimate, recall the Paul campaign says that it may have 30 more delegates).
With these hard numbers in mind is it all done yet? I do not know for sure. What I do know is that Paul is strongest in Caucus states and Texas and Washington are sure Paul strongholds.
Of course, if Paul and Huckabee split up the rest of the delegates we will have ourselves a contested convention.

Why wouldn't they?
If you heard Romney's speech, he has pretty much given McCain his endorsement as the only candidate who will secure our occupation in Iraq and endlessly fight 'terror'. Why wouldn't his delegates support McCain at the convention?
They won't, but us some of
They won't, but us some of us will believe it and we'll lose a U.S. Senate and U.S. House race because people can't understand math.
One web site has been strangely accurate about this campaign
One web site has been strangely accurate about the Elite’s manipulation of the Presidential Campaign
The powers that be didn't want Romney in this race and they SURELY don't want Ron Paul in this race.
Over the past few months I have been reading commentary and analysis on a little known web site called World Affairs Brief. (www.worldaffairsbrief.com). This web site is run by Joel Skousen. First, let me put into perspective who Joel is. He is the nephew of the late W. Cleon Skousen, the famed constitutionalist who was an assistant to J. Edgar Hoover during his career in the FBI. W. Cleon Skousen was also the author of the best selling books “The Naked Communist” and “The Naked Capitalist”. It is Joel Skousen who is now carrying forward the work of his famous uncle. Joel is incredibly bright and is also well connected (as was his uncle). Consequently, he is in a unique position to accurately vet his information and accurately distill an analysis that cuts through the cacophony of everything swirling around us.
Here’s what Joel has said about the campaign:
Aside from Joel’s insightful discussion of purposeful vote fraud you’ll find that if you go back into the archives of his World Affairs Brief weekly newsletter section you’ll discover that during the last few months Joel Skousen was absolutely correct in pointing out how Huckabee (who the elite really do not want) would be promoted and used a pawn in the hands of the Powers that Be (Joel uses PTB) to pull votes away from “unwanted” candidates like Romney. They intend to torpedo Ron Paul who would be their worst nightmare. In a brief nutshell, according to Joel, Rudy Giuliani was the preferred candidate of the elite and McCain was positioned as an alternate on the side who would be promoted in case Giuliani should lose steam (which now has happened). What makes this all the more poignant is that both the Huckabee and McCain campaigns were essentially broke with a seemingly dim outlook. Yet since I read the World Affairs Brief it almost feels like déjà vu when I look at the news later on and I watch all these things play out at a key junctures in this campaign. So, not long after reading about this in the World Affairs Brief I see these candidates (Huckabee and McCain) suddenly, almost on cue; receive an enormous amount of buzz in the mainstream media. Newsweek promoted “Holy Huckabee” on their front cover shortly before the Iowa Caucasus. Then, later, we saw all these carefully timed endorsements for McCain from key newspapers and key people which injected momentum back McCain’s campaign. This culminated in Time Magazine’s “Phoenix Rising” cover promoting John McCain, followed by Arnold Swartzeneggar’s last minute endorsement just in time to tip the scales for Super Tuesday.
Read the February 8th brief
The most important reason I wanted to make all of you aware of this is that, in all likelihood, Joel will have a very insightful analysis of Super Tuesday tomorrow (February 8th). Occasionally, though not often, he may delay his weekly analysis (which almost always posts on Friday for subscribers who click on the link “Latest Brief”). The current brief is headlined in the section: “This Week in the World Affairs Brief”. As I write this the brief’s current headline is “PULLING STRINGS FOR SENATOR McCAIN”. That title is a week old from last Friday’s brief. Depending on when you log on you may still see this old headline and since Joel’s newsletter is a subscription (the fee is actually small) you’ll want to wait for the subsequent post to show up to read your free copy (which ought to post Friday, February 8th). Joel allows non-subscribers to view the current newsletter for free on a one time only basis and it is my strong opinion that we’ll see a most insightful and eye opening analysis of Super Tuesday that you will not see anywhere else on the web (I cannot guarantee you’ll see a Super Tuesday analysis since I’m only a subscriber and really have nothing to do with Joel’s web site).
I learned about World Affairs Brief from my brother who has been a subscriber since 2002. He had sent me an excerpt on rare occasions which I had found impressive. He has urged me to subscribe over a period of time. Last summer I learned Joel was giving a speech near where I lived. I attended and I was literally blown away (in much the same way that Ron Paul blows me away with the intellectual clarity in which he frames the issues). I subscribed shortly after that speech. I now understand what my brother meant when he said that “nothing in the news surprises me anymore”.

World Affair's Brief is great - He Introduced me to Paul
I've been reading Joel Skousen's brief, website, and books since at least 2001. I too am rarely suprised at what happens these days--even 9-11 wasn't much of a shock thanks to Joel.
First of all, I need to introduce myself. I've been a fan of Ron Paul for many years, but this election cycle I have chosen to support Mitt Romney. Some of you might not understand why, but I see them as two outsider politicians, both incredibly intelligent, but Romney with the leadership skills to make a difference--even though that difference might be limited because he advocates small steps while RP advocates huge steps.
Principally, I'm probably more in line with Paul than Romney, but I think we have strayed so far from the Founding Fathers that a principled approach won't be effective. In other words, I believe the country has terminal cancer and it inopperable and Romney's chemo will buy it time while RP's surgery would risk premature death. I've supported Romney over Paul because, 1) RP won't get elected, 2) The nation would literally collapse in a fit of rioting and chaos if we were to implement all of RP's platforms, and 3) Many of RP followers give his ideals a very bad name. I have however defended RP in many of my posts as a Romney Blogger.
I won't waste your time arguing for Romney in this forum, but suffice it to say, he's hated by the MSM as much as Paul and an enemy of my enemy should be my friend. I also felt a little embarrassed for Romney when he attacked RP in the recent debate about reading Amedinajad's press-releases. Please don't judge him for trying to score some points with the conservative base--no one is perfect.
With Romney suspending his candidacy today, my natural transition is to Ron Paul. In joining with you, I would hope you might consider the following approach when you continue the fight for RP.
1) Don't bash Romney. He has a group of very loyal and sincere supporters who would be much more likely to support Paul than Huckabee or McCain. They are very conservative and refuse to vote for McHuck this November.
2) Don't brag about pulling a back-room deal with Huckabee for 3 measley delegates in West Virginia. It's below what I would expect from either a Romney, or a Paul candidacy. I would rather give you all of Romney's 270 delegates than to see that kind of a stunt. Romney didn't play by Washington's rules, and that's why he got beat. Paul or his followers shouldn't abandon their principles to play these kind of games either. I can support a losing cause as long as integrity is maintained.
3) Don't expect that your support for Dr. Paul will ever be a winning cause. That's not what his candidacy is about. It's about educating a young block of voters about constitutional principles that weren't taught in school. I expect that like Rome, this nation will collapse within our current generation and the things RP is preaching will come into play at that time. Lovers of liberty will band together and the teachings of Ron Paul will be akin to scripture.
4) Consider an alternative "outreach" program to voters of other former candidates other than the "Ron Paul is Right" argument. You'll catch more flies with honey. Back off on the stringent anti-war rhetoric. Most people don't understand all that is going on behind the scenes and you need to cut them some slack on their ignorance. RP is smart enough to know the best way to pull back from Iraq so as not to make matters worse. Emphasize that he's really not the anti-war candidate, but the pro-freedom candidate. I know many of you are trying to do this, but the message isn't quite getting out there.
Hopefully I won't get run out of here and we can engage in some thoughful dialogue about what this country could be, and what we should be prepared for if America doesn't get back on track.

The Huckabee deal
"Don't brag about pulling a back-room deal with Huckabee for 3 measley delegates in West Virginia. It's below what I would expect from either a Romney, or a Paul candidacy."
That was a win-win situation and I guess RP people just needed an excuse to get behind Huckabee in WV, to enhance the chances that Huckabee stays in the race. We are fighting for a brokered convention where there are so many candidates that nobody can claim outright victory. See the following link for an explanation. http://www.dailypaul.com/...
Thank you for joining.

Great suggestions
Welcome to the forum.
For Liberty!
wise suggestions
"Most people don't understand all that is going on behind the scenes and you need to cut them some slack on their ignorance."
very wise imho
humility & integrity (along with dogged persistence) will shine through to the people ready to listen...and there's a ton more out there today than there was yesterday...
Delegate in MN
I was selected at my local Caucus to represent my precinct at the MN caucus on March 15, 2008. I am also a RP supporter and will ensure that he receives my vote at this next caucus. We'll do what we can to assure that Ron Paul is our next President.
WE ARE RON PAUL
We all need to get his name out to the people who are gonna be voting. the idea of the newspaper is not bad but he deff needs his name out there. look i was kinda on the dumps about all of this but with this news things are deff on our side now. we all know that the media wont talk about him or give him any time so we have to go door to door just to give them some information about the good doctor. but please everyone please lets get back on track and lets put all our heads together and give Dr. No the media exposure he deserves.
Tell Starbucks Your Name Is Ron Paul
When Starbucks asks for your name, tell them "Ron Paul"
I've been doing this for the last month and it is a real icebreaker with the others waiting for their coffee. I'll hand them a slim-jim or Ron Paul card when they say something to me. Even if your state has already voted, let's keep spreading the Good Word about Ron Paul!
that's classic
and brilliant.
many more creative solutions like this are needed imho
Only one!
There is only one man in the race already, the others are just little children.
Once again, as others fall,
There Stands Ron Paul like a STONE WALL!!!
Write to Ann Coulter. Get her on board
Tell her that Ron Paul will get 25% of the vote west of the Mississippi in the general running 3rd Party. He will win states like Montana, Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Alaska. McCain might win Georgia and Alabama and South Carolina. Clinton will win the rest.
This will cause the GOP not to ever make the mistake of backing a liberal loser again.
Oh Dear God No.

This woman is more repellent than Bug Spray.
Need to remove that first sentence...
You mention: "Just when it looked like all was lost..."

Hate povery, not the poor - Gandhi
Is this good or bad?
With Romney out of the race it will be near impossible to force a brokered convention. But on the brighter side it is 286 UNBOUND Delegates from what would have been take all states. We NEED to have RP supporter's as delegates in those states.
go put to the msm news sites and post comments
stating that you are sad that Mitt pulled out and now you only have one choice left for support. Ron Paul. I have been doing this for the last hour and have gotten some good comments from ex Romney folks saying they will do the same. Get Ron Paul's name out! Be courteous ans sympathetic in your posts but make a point that you are now a Paul supporter.
Mormons for RP
I'm Mormon and conservative; would've voted for Romney, but was converted to Paul months ago when I got sick of hearing Giuliani and Romney insulting eachother like children and curious enough about Ron to listen to what he had to say.
He is the ONLY one who hasn't lowered himself to mindless bickering and blaming, I used to think that's all that politicians were, (mindless). Ron has proven me wrong.
He is a beacon of light when it comes to respecting others beliefs and sincerely leading us to believe in liberty again.
GO RON!
Cool..
=)
It is time you speak to your family and friends who voted for
Romney. I guess all of us have friends and family who might have done that. So we all have some work to do in that regard.
