Runningmate suggestions?
Submitted by tamckissick on Fri, 02/08/2008 - 16:05
We've been discussing the choices of runningmates for the last few days at work and wanted to get other people's opinions. It seems to be nearing the time for Paul to get a shot of attention by announcing a choice.
The two we settled on were Chuck Haegel from Nebraska and Ross Perot. There's lots of pros and cons, so let's hear what everyone thinks. Also let's hear if anyone has heard if Ron Paul has made any comments toward a direction. Thnx.

Pat Buchanan
The only other true conservative that would destroy McCain on every issue.
and he has been quite supportive of the RP campaign, unlike the other suggestions on this topic.
The only other suggestion would be Bob Barr.
Bobby Jindal - Governor of Louisiana
Very young, intelligent and uncorrupted, with no baggage. India-an ancestry.
Please comment This is a suggestion not a conviction..
Jesse Ventura, former
Jesse Ventura, former Governor of Minnesota.
SCOTT RITTER WOULD BE PHENOMANAL AS VP
He wrote the book: Waging Peace". he was a UN inspector found NO WMD's. Look him up.
SCOTT RITTER FOR VICE PRESIDENT
How about...
LEEEEEROOOOYYYYY JEEEEENNNNKKKIIINNNSSS!!!!
This was asking about running mate suggestions
So here are mine....
Ross Perot he is a business man who knows how to run a business which the Federal Gov does badly. Plus he has money to help the cause. On top of this he did very well as an independent so he could pull some votes.
Donald Thurph would be another possibility to bring sensible business practices to the government. Not sure of his attraction for votes.
Denise K. from the dems would be interesting as he holds many values Ron holds but does not understand the monetary bit. Ron could teach him or live with his views but implement the correct ones. It would tie in both parties which I would find exciting.
Ralf Nader a small minded guy who might bring in votes but I doubt resignates with the Ron Paul Revolution. Ralf wants to control... He made seat belts manadory which I hate!
None of the rep's running against Ron Paul can be considered they are all a bunch of liars and ill informed knockel heads.
Martian Luther King or Gandhi would be great..... Or for that matter JFK or Bobby! Just a dream .........
Or someone who would pull votes in and be in sync wit RP? Sean Penn?
A women, a black women? Two for one, the congress women form DC? Eleanor Holmes Norton she is great! Did you see the mpeg with Colbert? She is my number one pick!
I know who I would like too see
Andrew Napolitano would be fantastic. He's a true Libertarian and student of the Constitution. He also has built a name for himself that is very recognizable.
Man would I love to see him in the press room of the White House answering questions from reporters. Take no prisoners Judge!
www.drugpricelookup.com
I suggested Scott Ritter but Andrew is also a great choice.
Let's promote these two...
Napolitano
Sorry never heard of him. Might mean nothing might something?
He is awesome!
He is awesome!
Bob Barr would be
Bob Barr would be interesting...... hmmmm
Puppets come and puppets go but the world's stage is getting cluttered.
Jesse vENTURA
Jesse Ventura\
or
Ace Ventura!
thankfully...
the Doc gets to pick!
Marshall Mathers
The Paul/Mathers LP
Jerry Mathers...aw cut it
Jerry Mathers...aw cut it out will ya Beave?
Bobby Jindal - new governor of Louisiana?
This a - so far - clean and intelligent fellow of Indian (India) ancestry. Anybody know anything substantial about him? He could counterbalance Ron Paul age and Obama oratory skills at the same time.
Please comment!
John Edwards
He was marginalized as was Dr. Paul. He wants to stop the war.
This Poster
....also suggested we divert our attention to a "penny" money bomb in order to count noses.
Let the thread die and any other thread that is purposely taking us away from organizing the March and spreading relevant information.
fonta
What's the matter with that?
I suggested that (naievely at the time) so that we would be able to show the media "Look here, we have 2 million distinct seperate supporters" I was looking for a way to prove our numbers without making it such a high number that we lose people because it's too much for them.
Just like that thread, I suggested this thread as a 'possible' way to attract media attention. I'm seriously worried about the march, because I know there's no way possible I can afford to go. I don't want to attract attention to too small of a march when it became too small because some of us are in the poor house. Sorry I'm not able to support 3 kids still at home, and 1 in college and still drive or fly around to these sites.
The penny bomb
Good Idea but you have to make it a dollar. All can afford 1$ as much as a penny. Count noses.. Because most use the internet and credit cards 1 dollar would be the min. I support your idea 100%....... So what's next? When and where?

HOW OLD is Perot?
I don't like him, but the Huckster is best - because we can pool our delegates to trounce McInsane. Plus Huck has become a Paul Parrot!
I may be a vegetarian, but I'll defend to the death my right to eat pork!
I may be a vegetarian, but I'll defend to the death my right to eat pork!
agree with you here
I totally agree with you on this one. I have several friends who are big Huck supporters & one of them actually suggested to me yesterday "they should just run together!" My friends who support the Huckster also hate McAmnesty, so I could see how this ticket would work and win. But do we not think Huck is trying to be John Insane's VP candidate? It's vey questionable, if you ask me.
I'd only take a Paul/Huckabee ticket though, not a Huckabee/Paul ticket. Huck is too old school on a lot of issues and I live how Dr. Paul is more progressive in his own way. I couldn't see Huck restoring that many of our liberties, privacy and freedoms that have been lost (except the right to bear arms).
Great troll bait
Great troll bait. Lol
Ross Perot was supporting
Mitt Romney
I would prefer
Pat Buchanan David Walker Rocky Anderson, Mayor of Salt Lake City see: www.alternativesmagazine.com great article (like RP)
General Petreus
politepaulite
He was able to improved the mess that Bush left us in. He is trusted by most people to make decisions honestly. He also laughed when McCain said that he traveled in Bagdad in an unarmored jeep. NOT
politepaulite
I like this idea..
But we kinda need him elsewhere atm, lol.
He is a scholar like Dr. Paul. He is the only General Officer who had studied insurgency prior to the Iraq war...
I have always said that if Gen Petraeus isn't successful in qwelling the violence in Iraq then no one can.
Good grief!
Not this again!? Is there not a CFR shill or socialist you have mentioned yet? Um lemme see, how about Hugo Chavez? I'm sure he'd be willing.
Seriously can some of you please get a clue?
Hagel, Perot, Bloomberg, Powell, Gore, Sanford = CFR/UN tools
Kucinich, Gore, Gravel = Socialists/Marxists
Barr, Badnarik, Williams, Napolitano = maybe?
Buchanan = Gets my vote!
Ventura = Celeb nutcase gone wild, thinks Ron Paul is out to lunch...not in touch with reality or with RP.
Stossel = No
Haven't reasearched Johnson...not well known enough.
What is the point of having a non-CFR president if you are going to let the enemy in through the VP?
Bob Barr
Bob Barr is a strict Constitutionalist and should help Ron Paul in Southern states, which is where he did especially poorly in the GOP primaries.
Michael Badnarik
Michael Badnarik
AL GORE!!!
AL GORE!!!
----------------------------------------------------------
"Ehhh, What's ups Doc?" Bugs Bunny
"Scwewy Wabbit!" Elmer Fudd
Gore may have invented the internet...
...But Ron Paul is its president.
Yah right
LOL
Chuck Hagel are you kidding
Chuck Hagel are you kidding me? You know he's Bloombergs VP right? If Obama does not get the nomination Bloomberg is in. Hagel and RP = never happen.
"But, indeed, no private person has a right to complain, by suit in court, on the ground of a breach of the Constitution. The Constitution it is true, is a compact, but he is not a party to it."
Thanks, that helps..
Comments like that help a lot...

Would you all please stop masturbating
Yeah thats all we need to win. Ron just has to announce a VP and suddenly the country will realize the rightness of RP and his positions. Do us all and yourself a favor stop jacking(or jilling)-off and get real! Stop living in OZ. Unless Ron go's 3party (he won't) this is a really stupid subject to contemplate.
Signed.
Signed.
For sure! I'd almost rather
For sure! I'd almost rather hear more about the reptilian alien base under the Denver Airport and how to make crop circles! Talk about spinning one's wheels!
Dennis Kucinich
Ron Paul has actually said that he and Kucinich are often the only two voting against some mindless bill in congress. Dr. Paul says he respects him greatly.
Alan keyes
hands down.
Mike Gravel

I like Mike (Gravel)
... but you just named the only person the main-stream media have actually painted as crazier than they painted Dr. Paul... although I think that's probably an argument in his favor.
I also really like Mike Gravel
I don't know why he is getting labeled as crazy so much though! Well other than his ideas don't reconcile with the MSM's. There are a lot of positive things people would really like about Gravel if they did their homework. In his younger days he was *extremely* handsome (still is in a very old man way), is genuine and respects liberty, privacy and freedom. I wish Gravel (well and Dr. Paul!!!) had gotten a fair chance. But they were afraid viewers might actually like him. So sad.
Gary Johnson or Mark Sanford
Both Johnson and Sanford are extremely popular governors who have substantial experience for their age.
Johnson has already endorsed RP and is probably the most libertarian leaning governor in recent memory.
Sanford has not endorsed anyone as of yet, but he has a phenomenal record of downsizing the South Carolina state government. Also, his nomination as VP would all but secure the south and Bible belt.
Exactly Mark Sanford or Gary Johnson
Mark Sanford is also part of the Liberty PAC Dr. Paul was the chairman of and voted with him against other Republicans on certain issues. He is also neutral or in any case not for Iraq war and an independent thinker, who enjoys a lot of respect with ALL or most Republicans. He can bring the "religious right" also. With Romney's endorsement of McCain now things look not so good, will have to see how their delegates decide. We have to sway not only all or most Romney and Huckabee delegates, but also some of McCain. Perhaps there are a few stealth RP delegates. We know in any case McCain must have a few anti-war delegates, that should have voted for Paul if they knew about the war issue.
Some anti-Clinton people may also vote for Paul, but it is going to be a very hard race. It would in any case be good for Dr. Paul to assembly maximum delegates and show our power and speech to the RNC: very important!
