What's your take on Ron Paul's e-mail?

February 8, 2008

Whoa! What a year this has been. And what achievements we have had. If I may quote Trotsky of all people, this Revolution is permanent. It will not end at the Republican convention. It will not end in November. It will not end until we have won the great battle on which we have embarked. Not because of me, but because of you. Millions of Americans -- and friends in many other countries -- have dedicated themselves to the principles of liberty: to free enterprise, limited government, sound money, no income tax, and peace. We will not falter so long as there is one restriction on our persons, our property, our civil liberties. How much I owe you. I can never possibly repay your generous donations, hard work, whole-hearted dedication and love of freedom. How blessed I am to be associated with you. Carol, of course, sends her love as well.

Let me tell you my thoughts. With Romney gone, the chances of a brokered convention are nearly zero. But that does not affect my determination to fight on, in every caucus and primary remaining, and at the convention for our ideas, with just as many delegates as I can get. But with so many primaries and caucuses now over, we do not now need so big a national campaign staff, and so I am making it leaner and tighter. Of course, I am committed to fighting for our ideas within the Republican party, so there will be no third party run. I do not denigrate third parties -- just the opposite, and I have long worked to remove the ballot-access restrictions on them. But I am a Republican, and I will remain a Republican.

I also have another priority. I have constituents in my home district that I must serve. I cannot and will not let them down. And I have another battle I must face here as well. If I were to lose the primary for my congressional seat, all our opponents would react with glee, and pretend it was a rejection of our ideas. I cannot and will not let that happen.

In the presidential race and the congressional race, I need your support, as always. And I have plans to continue fighting for our ideas in politics and education that I will share with you when I can, for I will need you at my side. In the meantime, onward and upward! The neocons, the warmongers, the socialists, the advocates of inflation will be hearing much from you and me.

Sincerely,

Ron

Ron Paul never said he was quiting! READ!!

"But that does not affect my determination to fight on, in every caucus and primary remaining, and at the convention for our ideas, with just as many delegates as I can get."

Come on you guys, does that sound like he is quiting? All this talk and organizing for a third party run must be disheartening for the Pauls. There is at least one meet up where Libertarians and Constitutionalist are practically fighting over who's ticket Ron Paul will be on. Bless them for supporting Ron Paul, but they should ask Ron Paul what HE wants first! Ron Paul is a Republican, and it used to be a "Grand" Party of limited government, lower taxes, an anti-war foreign policy and conservative social values. Ron Paul wants us to restore the Republican party to what it should be and elect him as our next President. You should be members of your local Republican clubs, members of the Republican Executive Committees, supporting like minded members for office from the local, state and federal levels, meeting together to study the constitution and teaching true history and civics to your children. Of course if you haven't had your state election yet you need to wake up as many people as possible and vote for Ron Paul, even if they steal your vote, it's all we have. You want instant victory, but this will be won an inch at a time http://www.youtube.com/wa...

On Jan. 27th, less than two weeks ago Ron Paul gave us a video "Progress Report" http://www.youtube.com/wa... This video has been watched over a half million times!! In it Ron Paul states that he will quit only "when my supporters loose confidence and they no longer volunteer and they no longer send money" (9 mins. 15 sec. into the video) Watch it again, look into his eyes as he talks to you. He is a man of integrity, and he has stated that he will not quit, unless you quit. Looks like we are in this for the long haul! Just MHO.

I see this as a challenge to us.

Ron Paul has spent 20 years in congress and he knows that we need people like him or this country will be totally lost.

He is going to find out if we are fair weather supporters.

If we are real supporters we will become precinct delegates, and go to convention and continue recruiting and continue donating to save our own freedom.
If we do not *** then we are only fair weather friends and the actions we now take will let him know who his real supporters are.

We know who the non supporters are.

The thing we all know is that the communists, the CIA, the IRS, the Federal Reserve Bank members, the FBI, the head of the IRS, the members of the CFR, the Builderbergers, the Trilateral Commission, George Bush, Dick Cheney, David Rockafeller, Hannity , O'Reily, McCain, Clinton, Obama, and the socialist corperate doners to their campaigns, those that are enforcing the patriot act, those that run the secret courts, those that run the secret prisons, those that believe our government should torchure people, those that believe that our government should have people on the payroll to assassinate leaders of other country's, the owners of Fox, NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, the New York Times, the Washington Post, Owners of USA TODAY. the corporate pharmacy's, the Oil company's, the phone company's that let the government tap our phones, the people that make a lot of money (secret part of the CIA) bringing drugs into this country and sell them on the blackmarket, make and a lot of money by keeping them illegal, Blackwater, and other contractors that are making a lot of money by being in Iraq, Haliburton, and more corperations and government departments than I can think of at this time will not throw their support to Ron Paul.
Only we the people care about the constitution and freedom.
we are only about 99 % of the population and then there is about 6% compromised by being under the thumb of those I have mentioned.

We are the majority and we only need to recognize that and act like it and we will win. I can only donate small amounts and I have and I will continue this campaign no matter what, because it is going to be a future of freedom or of government dictatorship by you know who.
We collectively have the money, the legs, the phones, the internet and we really can win if we stay focussed.
People from all of the groups mentioned above are expected to come on these Ron Paul support site's and be as negative as they can to bust up our efforts and the fair weather friends will simply quit. Real supporters will not quit. On with the Ron Paul revolution!!!!

As William Wallace said:

"And I see a whole army of my country men, here, in defiance of tyranny. You've come to fight as free men, and free men you are. What will you do with that freedom? Will you fight? Aye, fight and you may die, run, and you'll live... at least a while. And dying in your beds, many years from now, would you be willin' to trade ALL the days, from this day to that, for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they'll never take... OUR FREEDOM!"

Wallace didn't say that.

Mel Gibson did. There aren't any records of speeches by Wallace.

Matching funds

Ron Paul should have taken matching funds for his 20 mil quarter. I am tapped out and have no desire to donate any more and I feel let down he didn't take matching funds. If I have to pay taxes I would prefer to see him use my money to promote the revolution. I still Support Dr Paul and have a huge revolution decal on my cars back window but if he took the 20 mil in matching funds we could dominate where everyone else is broke.

There is more to this

Than I understand. For some reason it is a huge no-no to take those funds. Not sure exactly why, but it says you are not successful somehow.

Are those funds still available? If so, then maybe now is the time. It would show intentions.

I see no reason why taking

I see no reason why taking matching funds would be a huge no no. Heck you could buy tv ads on the discovery channel or history channel where people with open minds watch tv. Ron should put up a comercial talking about the media black out on him and why the media fears him. What do we have to loose at this point. We are fading fast and we need to do something big to put us back in the picture. How about a comercial that shows what Mccain in office would be like, war war and more wars. I worked my butt off in NH this summer and it only got us 8% in the live free or die state. I say take the extra 20 mil and put up some hard hitting comercial instead of the cheezy ones that has been put out so far.

we MUST get him his Congressional Seat

I think the good Doctor's purpose in sending that email was to convey the importance of ensuring his Congressional Seat.

This is not to say that he won't become president, but in fact the opposite that ensuring his Congressional re-election could actually HELP his Presidential run, while also ensuring a "fall-back" plan.

So, what does this mean? Where do we go from here? What now?

1. Donate to his Congressional campaign at http://www.ronpaulforcong...

2. Get back to work on his campaign!!! Go canvass, go pass out flyers...encourage everyone you know to donate to both his Presidential and Congressional campaigns!!!

This is it! We have to push just a little harder. I know it's hard, but anything worth doing you have to struggle for. So let's get out there and Go! Go! Go!!!

My Take

There has been a lot of talk, a LOT of talk, about a 3rd party run. It is making some who became republicans just to support Dr. Paul stop their GOP support, and put their focus on their 3rd party activities. He knows this, and is trying to rally the troops in the remaining primaries and caucuses. I believe if he honestly didn't think he had a chance in the convention, he would have submitted a wholesale withdrawal, or at least a 'suspension'. He's telling us he will not run 3rd party, but he will fight on for the GOP nomination, no matter what.

The fect is, he will not run 3rd party because he wants to keep his seat in congress, should he lose his presidential bid. He will not be able to run for congress as a Republican if he is running for president in another party.

I believe he should have endorsed someone for his congressional seat long before he began his Presidential bid. Hindsight being 20/20, it is too late for that, at this point, and I don't know if he would have been willing to do so, anyway.

I will continue to support the Ron Paul campaign, even if it means writing him in in November, unless Dr. Paul endorses a 3rd party candidate that I can get behind.

WHO NEEDS RON PAUL! Just continue on with the revolution.

Did Ron Paul have someone like Ron Paul to rely on? BE RON PAUL!

ONWARD AND UPWARD! RON PAUL WILL WIN ANYWAY, SO WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL!

All Guns Blazin'

He suspending his bid

What Ron Paul's campaign showed was we need to do more to fight the military industrial complex which has now complete control over the media. You cannot look at what happened to Dr. Paul and think the media is looking out for the public which is really their mandate. If you were moved at all by his words and ideas then stay involved in the political process. The FCC is supporting the Rupert Murdock's of the world, just like when William Randolph Hearst helped the fascists in WWII they are trying again to put corporations in charge, but as Dr. Paul points out the government is to protect the people from government and not the government from the people.

"..the essential is to cease being free and to obey, in repentance, a greater rogue than oneself. When we are all guilty, that will be democracy... Death is solitary, whereas slavery is collective." Albert Camus, The Fall.

FASCISTS being here for the last 100 years, they are

more visible now because their end is near. That's how fascists get defeated everytime.

My Take on RP email

For what it's worth as an outsider:-

'I can't be in two places at the same time.
I'm in for the Presidency if you keep supporting me.
If you can spread the message and the policy I can deliver if
people vote for me.
I have faith in conservatism at grass roots and believe most
people stand by the constitution and will continue to do so when they
realise it is now or never to save it.' (And yourselves).

'I always think of all you canvassors and precinct leaders at the front line.
Good luck out there &Thank you. It's appreciated'.-fip -U.K

I chose the presidency route. I DONATED TODAY!

All of you should too. even if it's 5 measly dollars.

Donate for Congressional seat

Ron Paul is still in the race, but he NEEDS not to get beat by a neo-con for his Congressional seat. Donate here today!

"The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me." ~Ayn Rand

Yes, Ivor, Dr. Paul is a practical man

The campaign gave us a goal of raising $23 million; contributions were steady but not enough for their pre-Super Tuesday massive campaign, so they then offered a $5 million boost. That was not reached either, although we did bring in over $1 million for Dr. Paul & Carol's anniversary.

Dr. Paul is a practical man. He will keep within his budget and plan his best campaign within the restrictions. He will not give up on the call to restore the Republic whether that will take place as our President, a Texas Congressmen, or other political office, or a citizen working side by side with the rest of us.

Dr. Paul is a practical man; and that is why I will continue to support him in every way I can. He will never blame anyone for lack of funds or low support. He moves forward in his efforts for We the People, no matter what circumstances in which he finds himself. What a soldier! What a statesman! What a hero!

His "Plan" is ...

In His New Book !!
The Revolution - A Manifesto

WE have to get it to open at # 1 !!

Rally the troops here !

This is my take: What does Ron Paul know that I don't know?

A lot, of course.

He knows much more than I do about the economy. As a member of the House Financial Services Committee, he has a better idea that I do about the depth of the downturn we are experiencing, and will most likely continue to experience on a level only the most aged among us can comprehend, thanks to "the advocates of inflation."

As a presidential candidate AND sitting member of Congress on the Foreign Affairs Committee, he knows much more, and is obviously privy to much more, than I as an ordinary citizen, about foreign policy, including ramifications of our past and current policies that will impact future events as well as the predictable responses of "warmongers and neocons" to these events as they unfold--perhaps sooner than later.

As serious student of history and someone on the front lines in the fight for personal freedom in Congress, he knows more than I about current and future plans of elected "socialists"--national socialists and plain old socialists--to further erode, curtail, and quietly steal our personal liberties and personal wealth.

So, Dr. Paul thinks it is necessary to take a little time to get his house in order as it pertains to his campaign for Congress. I think this is good advice from the doctor that should be applied to our lives. We should press on with the Revolution, of course, because we can see that the way the future is playing out, the wisdom of Dr. Paul's platform will only be made more obvious to more people, but not involve ourselves to the point where we neglect whatever preparation we need to make, as individuals, to protect our lives, homes and families.

That's my take, FWIW.

Reading Between the Lines

After having a good night's sleep and a few hours to ponder the doc's letter, this is what I came up with. With Romney's campaign suspended and MSM thinking the good Doctor has gone into hiding (not really, he's now putting much needed time into his congressional seat & reloading his weapon for later). In addition, General Paul has dispatched his army to battle other congressional seats. So here's how I see it playing out. Thanks to Huckabee staying in the race, he & McCain take it down to a brokered convention. As Liberty Papers ponder, Ron Paul Supporters have infiltrated the camps of other republican campaigns and are going to come out of the woodwork at the convention in St. Paul (how prophetic is that name) when the first round of votes fails to elevate McCain to the nomination. The second round will be a calculated take-over of the Republican Party (think Trojan horse). Meantime, the good doc has also won his congressional seat back. Now we have Ron Paul (as the Denmark-based Saxo bank predicts and according to the article the majority of their 2007 predictions were true) as president and also able to select a young Ron Paulite to take over his congressional seat. Either Ron Paul has a love for three dimensional chess or he's primed-up his copy of Sun Tzu's "The Art of War".

I liked

I have read it about 5 times now.

This is all that

This is all that matter:

"But that does not affect my determination to fight on, in every caucus and primary remaining, and at the convention for our ideas, with just as many delegates as I can get."

McCain does not have enough delegates now, nor will he have enough delegates come June when the last primary is held.

Heading into the convention, he will be a lame duck. He will not win the first ballot, and that will be evident by his being short of the 1,191 delegates necessary to secure the GOP nomination.

That means the convention is going to a second ballot.

The delegates at the convention are then freed and unbound to vote for anyone.

Ron Paul will win on the 2nd ballot.

Romney Mormons and Huckabee Baptists aren't going to vote for someone who supports abortion, like McCain. Their delegates will not sell their souls for John McCAIN.

My take on the email

I read the letter several times and this is my opinion. I believe that Dr Paul knows that he can not possibly win but wants to obtain as many delegates as possible to show that his message and his ideas resonate with the American people. Keep in mind that Romney did NOT drop out, he just suspended his campaign. This means that he is still holding on to ALL of his delegates so that if he wants to, he can jump right back into the campaign.

The GOP is very smart and they have the deck stacked against Dr Paul. McCain, Romney, Huckabee and Guiliani have all worked out a deal to keep Dr Paul out of the nomination. If Romney had dropped out then his delegates would have been available to any candidate that could have convinced them to go to their side so it is literally almost impossible for Dr Paul to have enough delegates to win the nomination.

This quote "In the presidential race and the congressional race, I need your support, as always. And I have plans to continue fighting for our ideas in politics and education that I will share with you when I can, for I will need you at my side. In the meantime, onward and upward! The neocons, the warmongers, the socialists, the advocates of inflation will be hearing much from you and me." tells it all to me.

Dr Paul is fighting for his ideas and public support of those ideas so thus, the more votes and delegates he obtains, the more he can say that Americans want the war ended, Americans want solid money, Americans want nonintervention in other countries.

This is all well and good but the problem is that if McCain wins the majority of delegates then this negates that theory. This means that Americans want MORE war, Amesty for Illegals, higher taxes and no monetary responsibility.

If you have a Revolution, you have to have a leader to guide you. Dr Paul is our leader and I truly hope that he again wins his seat in Congress, how lucky the citizens of Texas are to have him and I wish that I lived there. But Dr Paul is a dedicated man and will give his constitutents 100% of his time which leaves little for the Revolution.

I have the utmost respect for Dr Paul and regret none of the time and treasure that I have given to him because it was worth every second and every dollar to finally have a candidate that has given me hope. My anger goes to the fact that our elite, our government and our media has so much power as to control the American people and has the ability to fight freedom and liberty for power and their own financial gain.

This is no longer the America that I remember and I cry for what could have been every day. I will continue to fight for Dr Paul and what he stands for and I hope that we can find someone in addition to him to keep our Revolution going because the alternative is unthinkable.

I don't believe in miracles

but a lot can happen between now and the convention.
There is enough dirt on insane McCain to prevent him from becoming president.
The Democrats are counting on him to be the nominee so they can "expose" him and have a sure win.
Perhaps the dirty truth will come out before the Republican convention, Ron Paul could still come in and save the party.

Ummm

No.

Mike Stahl

Ummm

Ummm, no to what?
No dirt on McCain?
Not a long time till the convention?
The Democrats don't want McCain as the R nominee?
Ummm, what?

I second that

But... He is not giving up and neither will we. We've got some potential splash left and who knows what will happen between now and the convention. Remember, Romney's people HATE Huckabee and he'll be on the McCain ticket.

The least we can do...

The lease we can do is continue our fight for DELEGATES! Then, minimum, we can have a huge showing of support when he addresses the National Convention. (Whether or not it is broadcast on TV is another story). I'm in!! There is also a chance we could still get 2000 delegates and completely change the outcome of the vote - it is slim, but might be a fun Phase II challenge!

Band-Aid.

Many are reading into this letter what they want to read into it, and are not reading it for what it is. It's a Band-Aid.

Paul knows he won't get the Republican nomination without a brokered convention, and tells you himself that the chances of a brokered convention are about nil.

Since there will be no brokered convention, McCain will secure the nomination. He already has Bush’s ‘unofficial’ endorsement from yesterday. He’s got the blessing of the Republican party. He WILL get the nomination.

Since Paul outright REFUSES to even CONSIDER a 3rd party run, in the interest of retaining his Congressional seat, he will OBVIOUSLY not devote many resources to the Presidential campaign. He’s continuing because he’s a man of honor, and because he said he would, not because he thinks he can win. The Republican party has already picked it’s favored son, and that’s McCain.

It’s simple math folks. If Paul isn’t going to run 3rd party, he sure as HELL isn’t getting the Republican Party nomination, which means…. No Presidency.

There is zero chance of a

There is zero chance of a brokered convention. You people need to wake up and smell the morning air. McInsane is the nominee. He will implode once the MSM turn on him. Worry about getting a block of freedom in Congress. Movements are typically built from the ground up, not from up to down.

He is telling us to continue this fight for him

We need to continue fighting for him as he continues to fight for his congressional seat. However, with the slim possibility of a brokered convention, we will have a tougher fight. So get out there and continue the fight so we can get him to the convention in september.

The poor reading comprehension here astounds me

Ron Paul has not said he is quitting or turning tail or abandoning the revolution in any way shape or form.

I've always thought part of his problem appealing to the general public is the fact that he speaks over the comprehension skills and educational level of the majority of Americans. Having grown up and received his education in the early 50s, prior to several generations of scholastic "re-norming" I believe, has placed him at a disadvantage when it comes to communicating his complex ideas to the masses. Perhaps Ronald Reagan was called the great communicator because he could tune his speech to the audience. Maybe his Hollywood training had something to do with that. ;-)
What this email is about;
1. He must first and foremost keep the voice of the revolution alive by retaining our seat in congress.
2. Since we are not donating as much anymore and the media blackout is quite effective in suppressing the message to new donors, in order to go the distance he must conserve the donated funds presently on hand by tightening up on expenses.
3. This campaign has always been about the message. If the message can be conveyed to enough Americans then the election of Dr. Paul would take care of itself, if not the message will still be out there and cannot be put back in the bottle.
The Old Media can mess with the opinion polls and Diebold can mess with the counts but NOBODY can mess with an idea who's time has come.
Fight on, in Liberty!

I suppose you missed the part

Where he said there is no chance of a brokered convention.

I think the disappointment

I think the disappointment stems from the fact the national campaign looks like a shell. Look at the future events, nothing. If I were the good doctor, I would have gotten rid of the PR hacks after not making a move in NH. The advertising was terrible.

Upcoming events?

https://www.ronpaul2008.c...

Upcoming event:

Feb 28th MSNBC Presidential Summit in Houston, TX 9 PM – 10PM EST.

That’s it!

Only one even on the calendar the entire month.

Does this TELL YOU SOMETHING???

Save your money and find

Save your money and find candidates who are running for Congress we can support. Donating to the presidential campaign now is only going to line the coffers of the inepit management of the campaign. The advertising campaign was a major flop. The television ads were garbage for the most part. The 9-10 percent in the early states was not built upon. That goes back to the campaign.

More and more Americans know something is wrong with the country. But they are willing to shuffle between the Repubicrats still. Once they shuffle to the Dems this election and find out nothing changes, we can then present legitimate alternatives. Our focus right now should be three-fold. Get Dr. Paul back to the Congress. Support independent Congressional candidates with a platform of freedom. Begin preparing for the 2010 Congressional elections and 2012 Presidential race.

I personally plan on running for office once I leave college.

Someone is getting rich

The advertising campaign was a waste of money. I wouldn't be surprised if a few people in the campaign or friends of the campaign staff "producing" commericials got very rich out of this churning out cheap shoddy product.

By the way, the email doesn't even look like it was written by Dr. Paul. I've been looking at the style since the campaign started and I'm convinced that there's a ghostwriter writing around half of the emails being attributed to Paul. And others are doctored.

Ron Paul is a straight shooter

and if he were giving up he would have said
1) stop wasting your time canvassing
2)stop sending money
3)vote for so and so in the such and such party
4)i'm outta here

Ron Paul would not lie to us. What a hypocritical attitude that would be, and as we all know, RP is no hypocrite.

My take....

I think RP is saying.........let's see what happens before we say more. Alot will be told next few weeks.......brokered conv? he win his tx seat? I think he is saying it is not over we just don't know yet the BIG plan because have to wait and see results.... BUT..........he did tell us to work and be ready with delegates so let's do it

Exactly

He will take us and them by surprise with his strategy, we better be prepared! Donate, register as precinct leader, register to vote and keep up the great work for the campaign!

My thoughts

You know how sometimes when Dr Paul speaks at debates or engagements? For the most part many say " I wish he'd dummy it down for those that don't understand"

So, I took the liberty and "dummied down" the e-mail so i can understand, and I came to the conclusion that Ron paul is asking us to unleash the lion, go all in. Can we organize and show our disdain for the current state of the union? Or will we accept the "oh well,we tried excuse" or the "maybe next time excuse" or the "they are too poweful excuse"

Ron Paul's message and bravery should smoke us out of our holes and create a swarm of highly focused agitated citizens who are on the right side of goodness.

From Ron Paul's website, TODAY

"Ron Paul is not going to surrender, and John McCain will not take the Republican nomination without the fight of his life. Your donations and work as Precinct Leaders are needed now more than ever. Thank you all for everything you’ve done so far — the revolution has just begun."

Don't listen to our local losers. We are still in the game.

It is time to re-evaluate

Focus on Congressional candidates, and look for a third party candidate to support - maybe even try to draft someone else.

After this letter, anyone who wants to continue to the convention is either extremely out of touch with reality or is making money from the campaign, and wants to milk it for those last few dollars.

This is the most dangerous time - the RP revolution could easily fall apart if people can not deal with the fact that the GOP nomination process is essentially over. This is not a football game with last minute heroics. This is "a bridge too far" and if we spend all our resources on a last act of defiance, it will severely damage any hope to continue into this fall.

It would be nice to hear from some of the most active leaders, after they have had time to reassess. What is Larry Lepard going to do ? Vijay, or Trevor, or Michael or Jane ? Perhaps there needs to be some meeting, or something set up to help focus our powerful movement.

Ironman doesn't get the rEVOLution

This has nothing to do with Ron Paul the man, it has to do with the ideals espoused by Ron Paul and the CONSTITUTION.

The little man is protected by the Constitution - it is only when the republic is suffocated and democracy (this is NOT what we are folks!!) is introduced that the little man is suppressed and eventually the nation goes into socialism (already done) and then tyranny (1/4 of the way in the door). Then it goes to anarchy, then a republic, then...

I think you get the point of the circular nature of social structures.

When corporations invaded our Constitution and were allowed to lobby our politicians after 1886 due to CORPORATE PERSONHOOD being implemented through an erroneously labeled court case file the lives of every American changed and they were no longer number one as in the Constitution.

What is corporate personhood you ask?

Well here is the best website I could find on it. http://www.poclad.org/art...

THIS folks, is why our nation isn't what it used to be five to six generations ago but it can easily be returned with knowledge and our own lobbying to supplant that done by all the lobbying firms of the corporations.

Blow me again...

Ironman you need some lead mixed in.

Go away troll

"Ron Paul is not going to surrender, and John McCain will not take the Republican nomination without the fight of his life. Your donations and work as Precinct Leaders are needed now more than ever. Thank you all for everything you’ve done so far — the revolution has just begun."

That's taken from his website, today. I guess Ron Paul is "out of touch" .
