I'm confused about Louisiana
Excuse my ignorance...
I had heard the man himself say that he had done very well (1st or 2nd, there was apparent confusion) in the Louisiana caucuses back in January, but he has done poorly today in Louisiana...
Did Louisiana split up it's voting dates?
I'm so confused.

Coming from an actual RP La. delegate
Three step process as is similar in Washington and some other states.
A caucus to elect state delegates to the state convention, where RP did well, but did lose to McCain
A primary where 50%+1 gets you a dedicated 20 RNC delegates, no one got that today
Next weekend the state convention will convene and will elect 44 delegates to the RNC by the state delegates who won in the first round above
Liberty Freedom Peace
being from Louisiana originally...
I can tell you that Louisiana does everything backwards from the rest of the country, including elections.
The last vote in Louisiana
The last vote in Louisiana was a caucus, and this was a primary.
Only if a single candidate won more than 50% of the vote would the primary results count, so now they go back to the Caucus resluts where Ron Paul won at least 3 delegates, and possible all of them if the legal challenge works...
Here is how it works
Okay in Louisiana we received the most delegates according to the Ron Paul campaign (its in the courts right now) at the very least we received the second most of any candidate.
That was the caucus that chooses the actual delegates, but the Primary binds the delegates to a particular candidate that wins the today.
However, and this is BIG, in Louisiana a candidate must get at least 50% plus one to bind the delegates to him/her. Huckabee and McCain DID NOT DO THAT - sooooooooooo the delegates are free to vote for who they want, and guess who that is? Ron Paul :-)
