Could Huckabee/Paul be the ticket? to win
I know. The thought of Huckabee winning is distasteful to me too, but here's my thinking.
Huckabee is picking up steam and he "presents" well in interviews etc. He has that mainstream presidential look. We all know, however, that his politics change like the wind. He is a weak man with no mind of his own. He's been stealing Dr. Paul's talking points and gaining steam because of it. People are listening. They are getting used to hearing it. But with him they'll never get to see it.
Now, what if we had a strong man, who stands by the Constitution, who is able to sway others in that direction, calling the shots behind the scenes, similar to Cheney and Bush only not insane and evil. With a strong VP, I think Huckabee can be easily controlled.
Should we suggest to Huckabee that he consider Ron Paul as VP if he wins? Should we suggest to Dr. Paul that he take the position?
I think we should. We should get him in there in any way we can. Forget third party. He just CAN'T do it. But, why haven't we asked him about Vice Presidency?
output

huckabee
Paul would not go for it
I would probably throw up on the voting machine if I saw that.
Are you suggesting that if you put a nice bowl of (Ron Paul) ice cream and a pile of (Huckabee) b**l s**t together it would be a good?
what good is a brokered convention if you wont make a deal with
either party?
Let's be clear. We can not get enough delegates to win outright.
There are not enough left if we won every single one.
There are three possibilities IF we get to a brokered convention.
Paul/Huck - Huck/Paul
Paul/McCain - McCain/ Paul
Huck/McCain - McCain/ Huck.
There are also cabinet positions, but we would have to gather a lot of delegates by the second ballot to be in a strong enough (leading) position to not offer the presidency or vice presidency.
We either need to decide where we can compromise, give it to McCain and Huck, or come up with another plan.
I'm going to be at the convention, and I WILL make a deal to get Paul a spot on the ticket. Yes, he will take the VP spot for US and the USA.
Now is your chance to speak up.
won't work for me
I am not sure I would vote a Paul / Huckabee ticket. I do not like Huckabee at a deep enough level I would simply not vote, if that were Ron's choice.
Im for a Huckabee,Paul ticket!
Vote early, and vote often.
Foreign Policy
And the "War on Terror."
Polar Opposites.
Never gonna happen
Thank God for that.
Ron could give
Ron could give Huck a position in his cabinet, maybe uh, uhhhhmm....
I don't know.
How about the sending
the Huck over after our troops have left to see how Iraq and Afghanistan are doing with NO military assistance.
Yeah, you're right
Yeah, you're right; maybe not.
You've got to be kidding :/
You've got to be kidding :/
If Huck
If Huck, under oath, denounced the CFR and their influence, then, maybe.
...and pled guilty to the
...and pled guilty to the crimes he and his wife committed while he was governor ,returned $70,000.00 worth of furniture, etc., etc., etc.
they should form a coalition
they should form a coalition to ensure there will be more debates. Hey, if McCain doesn't want to show, then fine, let it just be Paul and Huck. I guarantee if he didn't there would be more backlash towards him.
as far as Paul and Huck on the same ticket... well if and only if Huck were to see the light as far as our foreign policy is concerned, then maybe.
I would vote for Huckabee/Paul if...
At the convention, neither McCain or Huckabee had enough delegates to win the nomination.
1. Ron Paul gives his speech at the convention.
2. Ron Paul makes a deal with Huckabee for the office of Vice President in exchange for his delegates.
3. Dr. Paul drags Huckabee out on stage, in front of everyone there, and makes him swear on a Bible to uphold the constitution much like an inauguration.
Should Huckabee break this oath, Paul would immediately step down and the GOP can deal with Vice President Pelosi.
Live Free Or Die; Death Is Not The Worst of Evils.
when will this fucking
when will this fucking thread die?
Do you really think...
Huckabee would accept a VP position in a Paul administration?
well, RP believes
that not only are the powers of the President regulated and restricted by the Constitution, but he also believes the VP position to be heavily restricted versus what Chick Deney believes. In other words, he would only do work permitted...Plus, I just don't think he would even vote for any other candidate unless they seriously had a change of heart and believed in the COnstitution and so forth, so I don't see him jumping on the Huckster campaign any time soon. IMHO.
The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, self-appointed, or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny. James Madison
This could work.
If Ron Paul doesn't win the nomination and is offered a position such as v.p. why turn it down. The arguments I read here seem reasonable but I disagree. Should he not run for congress because of its leadership? Imagine the influence he would have as v.p.! And if Huck is as some say and can be swayed easily by those around him would you not want one of those to be Ron. R.P. could take over this country with ideas the same way two barrels Chaney did. But not insane and evil. Good topic to think about.
Ron Paul is a man of
Ron Paul is a man of integrity. I can only imagine him choosing another person of integrity to be his VP. I do not believe that person could be Huckabee.
"Consistent principled integrity" is what we get when we support Ron Paul, nothing less.
NO NO NO!!
Paul/Romney I might be able to swallow---at least he has business sense but never Huckster or McCain.
ok that's the first new suggestion I heard.
I suspect we will make a deal for his delegates too, but that won't be enough to win.
No, no, no...
Oil and water do not mix.
Mike Huckabee is a panderer that will never mis a chance to use God's name in vane to get himself some votes. He is slicker than Slick Wille. They must learn that slickness in Arkansas.
I am sure he was a good preacher, cause he could talk the money out right out of your pockets. His next job will be on television.
There must've been
something slick in the water supply in Hope, Arkansas during Bill Clinton's and Mike Huckabee's childhood years
I believe they called it
LSD

Get real.
Get real.
you get real. Please
give me something to work with at the convention.
authentic an fake together? why?
it's always wrong to cheat yourself!
Yeah right! Just as soon as hell freezes over.
Get real.
I don't think the ends ever
I don't think the ends ever justify the means and we need to stick to our principles through think and thin, and carry on getting the word out and just getting this movement that has gone so far in just one year to keep on growing until the people have the power again. Huck doesn't represent our principles and therefore we have to keep him out unless he changes a whole lot. Carry on the movement no matter what happens on this race and keep on getting the word out!
"Gates of Hell" - remember
"Gates of Hell" - remember that one? Saying CFR Huckashill should unite in any way with RP demonstrates a tremendous naivety.
I love Paul
I love Paul, but I would do everything in my power to keep him out of the White House if Huckabee was anywhere near him.
Huckabee -really?
Huckabee said he wants to bring around Biblical Law into the Constitution. Seriously? You people would vote for him?
Besides the VP doesn't do anything. He just kind of sits around the Senate and votes when there is a tie.
You all are fools if you entertain putting Huckabee into office. If I wanted to live under a theocracy I'd move to Saudi Arabia.
Vice president's role
Depends on the Vice president. Some of them have wielded real power.
I do not want Mike Hockeypuck certainly. But Dr. Paul MIGHT be a counter balance to mcCain, IF he wins the nomination. (Which I am not yet ready to concede.
Dr. Paul got double digits in 2 out of 3 states yesterday.
If our organization is as strong and effective here in VA as I hope
it is, we might do really well on Tuesday.
This thing is NOT over!!!!!
Seriously?
Depends on the Vice president. Some of them have wielded real power.
Outside of being the next-in-line and chilling in the Senate, the VP's role is completely at the pleasure of the President.
People think because of Dick Cheney's role that the next VP will do the same. Anyone remember Charles Fairbanks or Alben Barkley (where we get the term "veep" from)?
Judging by how McCain acts towards Paul -well, I'm not going to hold my breath. The VP selection doesn't have to come out of the pool of running candidates.
No one's saying it's over -but capitulating to the "front runner" psychopaths who are running is a dangerous form of appeasement.
Mr. Huckabee will not be helping Ron Paul shape foreign policy
"If the President gives the Vice President important diplomatic missions, the Vice President can help shape United States foreign policy."
http://www.gallatindesign...
Remember, Mr. Huckabee told the world that he is more interested in saving face and coming home with honor from Iraq than doing the right thing which is correcting the mistake of going there in the first place. Ron Paul and Mike Huckabee have two different perspectives on foreign policy.
You misunderstand the VPs role
That whole foreign mission is distinctly at the will and whim of the President. The VP doesn't get that role automatically.
Huckabee, as President, is totally responsible for the foreign diplomatic mission (i.e. Secretary of State is the President's appointee).
As defined by the Constitution, the only thing a VP does is sit in the Senate and fulfill a roll in the Continuity of Government plan.
So, as you said Ron Paul and Mike Huckabee have two different perspectives on foreign policy. Hence, in the unrealistic chance that Huckabee had Paul as a VP, Huckabee would not be sending Paul out on the diplomatic envoy.
I think what you meant to say was "Mr. Paul will not be helping Mike Huckabee shape foreign policy".
Oh silly me,
and I was looking at it from a Ron Paul (President) and Huck (VP) scenario. My bad.
Either way, the point is moot because they have very different philosophies on foreign policy.
I was correct as to the role of VP as noted.
"If the President gives the Vice President important diplomatic missions, the Vice President can help shape United States foreign policy."
VP has the tie breaking vote in the Senate
And he is the one who will be POTUS if something happens
Those two things are big. I'd like RP for Prez, maybe VP if the Prez was just like Ron Paul. Period.
Walter Williams / Allan Keyes
I interviewed attendees in Philadelphia when Dr. Paul came & spoke some mentioned Kusinich - my thoughts are with Walter Williams or Allan Keyes ----- I think it would appeal to those who only see color as to why they are supporting Obama. I see it also as a way of keeping Dr. Paul safe as President from some hater trying to stop his Presidency..We are still working in Pennsylvania - delegates, yes, precinct leaders yes - possibly starting a Republican Liberty Caucus in Lancaster after all this is over in November - possibly yes - why? Because as a third party member for years, the signature requirments are horrendous & a waste of hours - we never get our candidates into major debates & are dismissed by the MSM....All the way with Dr. Paul focus, focus & thank you dailypaul supporters for explaining all this BS with popular vote, delegates, etc - there still is hope.
At this point I would have
At this point I would have to support this ticket either way, the thought of mccain as the nomination is just too damn sickening. However, I think Ron and Huck would have to sit down and have a good long talk on the Christian Just War doctrine, and just what would Jesus do.
You've perhaps been
You've perhaps been subliminally influenced by the "Cheney Era." Ron Paul wouldn't want to run the show from behind the scenes like a puppet master, because he understands the proper and intended role of the VP: to twiddle his thumbs until the President dies or the Senate needs a tie-breaker.

Liberty for Dummies
Normally, I'd say NO! However, after Meet the Press today
I might have to change my opinion of him.
He has taken on Romney's role as flip-flopper!
He has not only stolen RP's economic stance (get rid of the IRS), but today he totally stole his Healthcare platform - No government control.
Please remember, all last year he was talking about how the government must cover everyone, he would ban smoking and junk food.
Russert even showed a clip of him saying that - he tried to spin it that he was defending workers, not attacking smokers.
ANyway, he is a total Ron Paul Parrot!
I think the Huckster is secretly in LOVE with Ron Paul!
I may be a vegetarian, but I'll defend to the death my right to eat pork!
Ron Paul as Pres Huck as VP
Ron Paul as Pres Huck as VP would possibly work better, we should have more delegates there so we may be able to swing that deal. If that is what it takes to get President Paul in THAT IS polotics. Huck could look to 8 years as pres afterwards he is much younger than President Paul. Would make the GOP happy to have a viable run for the futures set as well. I hoping to be there would vote for it. In a prefect world we would ask Bill Cosby to be VP (ever heard him speak, not being funny? Amazingly intelleigent!) but we seem to not be in a perfect world.
Plus, Huck makes Ron Paul's issues sound even better than RP!
There is no doubting that the Huckster is the best rhetoritician ever!
He has totally flip-flopped to become a Ron Paul clone on every issue (other than the war), yet no one even noticed!
He has skill!
Also, for some reason even liberals like the guy (Aw, shucks, it's Huck!)
Seriously, the combined votes and delegates of Huck and Paul DOES BEAT McInsane.
The Evangelicals will be happy, the Conservatives have no choice!
Also, remember we brokered that deal with Huck's supporters in West Virginia.
Let's start forming this alliance NOW!!!!!!!!
I may be a vegetarian, but I'll defend to the death my right to eat pork!
No Huck
Huckabee is CFR.
He wasn't until December - when the GOP appointed his FP advisor
FP = his senior foreign policy advisor.
That's because he didn't know shit about shat when it came to the rest of the world!
I may be a vegetarian, but I'll defend to the death my right to eat pork!
not this shit again
CFR isn't everything. There are a LOT of CFR members, only the senior CFR members really are involved in the big shit, for most its just a line on a resume. Just because Huckabee doesn't understand what it means doesn't disqualify him.
An apologist for the globalists?
The big s***? And what IS the difference between the big s*** and the little s***?
Huckabee doesn't understand what it means? Lol!! Even if true, then more of a reason to not have him as VP.
You're either a globalist or you're not.
If you're a globalist, then you're beholding to corporate interests and not American's interests. If you're a CFR member, then you're a globalist.
You're part of "the club." Remember, Ron Paul was never invited to this club. That's just one of the reasons why we are supporting him. He's not part of their agenda. He votes against their agenda.
If you're a policitian, you're either in favor of the North American Union or you're not. Globalists are in favor of a NAU. Ron Paul is openly opposed to the NAU.
You are vastly mistaken
If there were such amazing support for the NAU it'd already be reality.
You are using it as a straw man -- something that NOBODY actually supports or believes in. It's easy to say "they" all support the NAU and the NAU is evil. But nobody actually believes in this nonsense. It's entirely made up by Ron Paul supporters in order to make the other candidates look bad.
This is such conspiracy bullshit.
Oh, how about Ron Paul and Cher?
She's great!
That's insanity
Mike Huckabee's surge in popularity started when he became a Council on Foreign Relations member. A CFR member would never, EVER, consider running on the same ticket as Ron Paul, and Ron Paul would never, EVER consider running with a CFR member either.
Ron Paul has too much integrity to run with the likes of Mike Huckabee, and that's part of why I support Ron Paul!
