per: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/politics/5528537.html . This means he still has about $700K left over from LAST quarter, and hasn't even begun to dig into THIS quarter's $5.35 million!

They need to do National attack ad Now!!
The truth on the Media and vote fraud, even if they spend the 6mil !!!

AMERICAN NEEDS!
Ron Paul!
AMERICAN NEEDS!
Ron Paul!
where
Please tell me where there was vote fraud...
I have not seen any legitimate proof, you are speculating.
And as far as the media bias, he is polling less than 5 percent nationally, he is a non factor in the race.
I am the biggest RP supporter here, I have been following him for 20 years.
Yet it pisses me off how stupid some of you people are...........
no go ahead and flag me all you want, I have just about had it with this web site.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?!
Just go to youtube man, Voters fraud is happing all over the palce, on Ron Paul behalf too i might add!
AMERICAN NEEDS!
Ron Paul!
AMERICAN NEEDS!
Ron Paul!
Okay, let's look at what this articles says.
Paul's spokesman Jesse Benton said the national staff would likely be reduced from 150 to about 50, with those who worked in the Super Tuesday primaries in states such as California being let go.
In addition, Benton said, he and other national staffers will transfer to Paul's congressional re-election operation.
But Benton said that even as Paul wages a primary campaign he will also continue running his presidential campaign in Texas. Three staffers will be assigned to his presidential effort here.
So, all the rest of the national staffers besides 3 in Texas are transferring to Paul's congressional operation. So what are they doing with the rest of the money for the presidential campaign. Besides the $700,000 for radio and cable tv ads? And the presidential campaign gets a lousy 3 staffers.
I'm sorry I have never posted any negative articles ever on this site, but this leaves me wondering.-
You need to re read that
You need to re read that article.
The National staff is now at 50, 3 more staff have been added to the Texas campaign for President. A few of the staff have gone to Texas to work on the congresional seat.
Man so of you just flat out can't read. You see what you want to see.
go ahead and flag me, I am sick of this crap.
I copied and pasted straight from the article.
Here is exact text:
In addition, Benton said, he and other national staffers will transfer to Paul's congressional re-election operation.
But Benton said that even as Paul wages a primary campaign he will also continue running his presidential campaign in Texas. Three staffers will be assigned to his presidential effort here.
It says 3 more staffers will be assigned - not added, and other national staffers will transfer -not a few of the staff have gone to Texas.
So, I'm sorry but you completely changed the way it read, I'm not trying to make it say what I want. Just stating what it says.
So with this $600K of offline donations that just got added in..
...I guess it's more likely that the campaign HAS already spent all of the $20 million from the 4th quarter (most likely on Super Tuesday). And all they've got left at this point, is what has been donated so far THIS quarter.......

Ron Paul = Red Pill
They should pick there battles better
Maybe another stop in north dakota, minnesota, montana, washington, nevada. Dr. Paul appearing gets the local media attention. I'll bet if he concentrated on those states before the caucused we my have won the straw vote which gets the media attention we need.
If any of you..
..have actually worked on a political campaign, or worked in a similar career, then I'd be open to hearing more about what you think the campaign should be doing.
I know that they've made mistakes, and I've done my share of complaining, too.
But the self-proclaimed armchair campaign staff among us can't stop pointing fingers at the official campaign when things don't go as planned. The grassroots has made their share of mistakes, too, but why keep trying to blame someone or second guess every move? It makes RP supporters look like a bunch of people who can't even agree among ourselves enough to have a united front. Every thing we say and do is scrutinized by the opponents and used against us.
Don't you realize what Ron Paul is up against? He could have the best campaign staff on the planet AND the best grassroots, and still not make it because of the PTB and their enormous control over the meda and the political game.
Worked in Advertising and Print industries for years.
And I can tell you that the campaign has wasted major dollars in rather foolish (inexperienced) ways.
The initial TV ads cost WAY too much. In quality and effectiveness, they stunk (and the campaign staff would gain a LOT of credibility if they would, even now, admit that fact, rather than doing a CYA). The current crop of ads reveal that they have learned the lesson on cost and "quality" -- but not yet on effectiveness.
Likewise, the print media campaign was poorly managed in New Hampshire -- far too much money was spent on both printing AND mailing (again inexperience in purchasing) -- the weight and method of the items mailed was unbelievable to anyone with experience in the industry. And likewise the documents themselves were and still are rather ineffective.
Conversely the "slim-jims" as the main literature being used by the grass-roots supporters while VERY inexpensive and high-quality, are also sadly ineffective, and possible counterproductive -- from multiple first hand interactions using them, they seem to turn OFF more voters than they turn ON, not a good sign.
While the "message" comes through fairly clear from Ron Paul himself when speaking (and ignoring that he could use coaching & speechwriting) -- the "message" does NOT come through very loud OR clear from the various campaign advertising pieces. The problem seems to be inattention to "shaping" or "refining" the message -- we are attempting to teach far too many controversial things all at once. The net effect is not the desired one.
This is advertising 101 -- or even "sermons 101" (you do THREE points and close with a prayer). You cannot teach the entire BIBLE in one sermon, people simply cannot drink and swallow fast enough. And this does NOT mean you have to "dumb down" your policies or issues, but you MUST refine your message (i.e. instead of 20 bullet points some on minor issues, you need 3 or fewer that address major ones in a cohesive way).
In addition, I have significant experience dealing with professional PR people -- and know how effective they CAN be even with a limited budget in getting their client's desired messages (even controversial messages) some substantial play in the media. And professional media people KNOW how to "cozy up" to the press by making their jobs easier -- and thus at least avoid creating outright animosity and prevent an adversarial relationship from developing. To date, the campaign does not have a single experienced PR or Media Relations person on staff or even on retainer as an advisor. This is unfathomable in the day and age of the 24/7 news cycle. And again, this is all PR 101 stuff. You can learn it at any local technical college in a matter of weeks.
Finally, while Ron Paul himself has instinctively come up with several "catchphrases" his campaign materials and advertisements are entirely devoid of them. It is as if the candidate and the campaign are two different entities.
Now the above are basics and the realities of the "media-saturated" and "media sophisticated" (or conversely "media dumbed-down" if you want) aspects of our current culture.
People with experience in some minor "campaigns" for local, state, or even Federal offices are NOT the people to put in charge of a national campaign. Why? Well simple, the "audience" is entirely different. Many local candidates get elected and/or re-elected for reasons entirely distinct from the effectiveness of their advertising campaign. In addition, when considering a Presidential or even Senatorial Primary Campaigns you have to remember that 90% of those campaigns FAIL, so hiring "experienced" staff is no guarantee that they actually know what they are doing (they MAY, as the candidate can have lost or won for other reasons.)

Well said
The 12-page mailers that went out in SC were a symbol of success to some people, but were in fact a symbol of inexperience. The debate performances that the true believers thought were amazing made the campaign seem non-serious to most viewers.
Frankly it seems like the campaign and candidate had no interest in "professionalizing" even after money started rolling in during Q3. They continue to act like an educational gadfly campaign in many ways. The most important changes only took hold after the primaries had already begun and we had already effectively lost. For instance, the precinct leader program is a wonderful idea, but it was introduced (in January) about 4 months too late.
There is some VALIDITY to the thought that it IS intent on
Being just that -- an "educational gadfly" operation. I have no doubt that Ron sees his "job" for these past 30 years as something like the one defined by Albert J. Nock way back in 1936 -- that of Preaching to the Remnant and getting US to rise up (now or whenever the time is right) and to then take control and change the country's direction.
And as a LONG-TERM strategy, it may just work.
But in a sense, if this is true... we may have been "duped" by the campaign (though NOT in a self-aggrandizing way) -- at least to the extent that those who "get it" in being Nock's Remnant have been enticed to step out of our hidey-holes and almost forcably put in contact with each other in our local areas. The long term impact of that happening is uncertain; many will return to their hidey-holes again (what I think of as the "groundhog mentality") but others will not and will STAY active, at least for a while.
Yes, preaching to the choir gets hearty "AMENS"
...and may even fill your churches coffers.
But it is note necessarily the most effective means of preaching to the congregation, much less evangelizing and reaching out to people OUTSIDE of the church (to merely continue the analogy).
No they didn't change course. As I have written elsewhere, the 4th Qtr FEC data confirms that they spent the greater part of their $17M campaign plan that was centered (indeed almost completely focused) on winnning New Hampshire. If that failed, the campaign really had no major plans (other than grassroots) beyond that point. (And the $23M request was most likely for executing a similar plan in 8 of the 20 Feb 5th states -- since the money didn't come in, they pulled back dramatically on that.)
The only "hitch" in their plans is that the grassroots actually OVER-raised, by $8M -- beyond the wildest dreams of the campaign staff. They LITERALLY did not know what to do with that money, and if in fact there is $6M left, it shows that they spent that funding on ads and the expanded staff and materials in the additional offices they placed in certain Feb 5th states.
What they can or will use the remaining $6M on is anyone's guess. They have at least learned (at great cost) how to get professional quality TV and Radio ads done in a cheap manner (something they SHOULD have known before) -- but they have yet to come up with a cohesive and effective "message" to get out, and until they pass THAT high hurdle any ads they air will remain vehicles for little more than name recognition (which IS important, but insufficient in a Presidential race -- they have to cast a "vision" for people to buy into. And at that they have failed miserably, no matter the amount of money spent.)
Possible, but it's Jesse Benton talking...
...and face it, he sometimes tends to get things a bit mixed up.
If they have $6M left, then they ought to be thoroughly chastised for breaking faith with the supporters (there were several pre-Feb 5th statements that they were planning to "go for broke" in those races), this could be forgiven if...
If they sit on it... awaiting an opportune moment (which IMHO would be NOW) and then truly USE the money effectively in CAMPAIGNING efforts, then it could/would still have a solid possible effect.
Hopefully they are NOT holding it to drag this out and make certain the central campaign staff can draw salaries for another seven months.
{And they had better not try to put it into some "Ron Paul Educational Foundation" thingee -- as much as I might like to see such an entity, it would virtually amount to fraud (IMHO actionable fraud), because the money was donated for the PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN, not for some other unannounced "educational organization." If they want to set something like that up, they can do so and then MUST solicit donations for THAT independent of the campaign.}
TV ads have been AWOL
Yes, I thought that "going for broke" meant we would be seeing on TV lots of RP ads 6 days out from Super Tuesday....and radio commericals on rightwing radio....we saw neither.
Not a happy camper.

if he has that much
he should do the nascar ad thing that everyones talking about. i think this is a great idea, especially if the car wins a few races. didnt he say "lets have fun with this revolution!" it wont take all his money, and im sure if he did this, that money would be replaced by us in no time. we would really be having fun, win or lose, this would rock! i dont even watch racing but i know for damned sure i would if ron pauls car was in it. and i would be more than will to contribute to this as long as it takes. look, the tv ads arent working, but when people are watching a car go around the track for 2 hours or so with ron paul plastered all over it, its got to have an effect. especially if the car wins! racing is huge everywhere! he would be the talk of every sports bar in the country and every armchair racer fan at home.win or lose, this will rock!
Travel Is Key
Ron Paul needs to get from State Convention to State Convention to sway the delegates. He needs to staff the phones to take donations, send materials and keep someone to update the website. He needs staff to arrange for his press interviews and issue press releases.
I don't think NASCAR is anywhere close to a priority.
This campaign's greatest strength is the Meet-ups. That's where we blow them all away, even the Democrats. The job of HQ is to support us.

Yea!
This is great news! We need to add to that total. Donate everybody!!!
Ron we sent you the money to
Ron we sent you the money to spend on this presidential bid- Spend it now- you can make a difference- Shake this republican party up!!!! It will be easy to show how voting for McCain will actually take the party more to the left, this is our chance, lets stick it to them NOW!!
That's awesome!!! He'll keep going!
I think Ron Paul needs a taste of his own medicine. He fires us up every time we hear him speak, see one of his signs, convert another voter, etc. I think he's tired and in a slump. How can we get him fired up?!! We need to find a way to help him get his second wind.
Suggestions?
Blessings )o(
Maybe
I'd like to see a well made infommercial put out across the remaining states. Like a big "go for broke" surge! I think if RP really flexed his muscle in the remaining states, it'd get some great attention and more donations. His CPAC speech could be used.
Maybe he could also recruit volunteer managers. I'm sure there are a ton of GREAT RP supporters and activists that would work full time for free, just pick up the travel and lodging expenses.
My two cents. I'm just sayin'....
I agree ....GO FOR BROKE.....
this would galvanize the supporters to GIVE if he would do this.
People would see that he finally was able to get his message out and this would bring in alot more donations.
USAToday just put up article online stating that the Paul campaign has just sent out e-mail that 4th quarter projections have passed 12 million.......
The word is getting out!!!
