So we lost a battle. Welcome to the war.

A few years ago, at the company where I worked, we hired a new guy.

He was good. Young, new to the industry, but had a brain and enough talent and was enthusiastic. It was his first job out of college, and he had moved cross-country to join our company.

Two months later, the company hit hard times, and laid off our whole department - including him.

I felt bad for him. I wanted to give him some helpful advice, but didnt want to lie to him.

So I told him the truth. As we all walked out the door that day, I patted him on the back and said:

"Welcome to the industry!"

I explained how disturbingly common this was, and that it was the nature of the industry (which it truly is). Unfortunately for him, his introduction was an horribly-timed one. But so be it.. learn and move on.

I saw him at a trade show a few years later - still in the industry, and doing alright. I was glad to see it.

That being said.. welcome to the civil rights movement, people. So we lost the Ron Paul 2008 battle. Guess what? We lose most such battles in this country! Ask the Kuccinich camp. Ask the Gore camp - you think this is depressing, imagine how they felt!

Why do you think the nation is in the sad state it's in today? We've been losing more than we won, for decades now.

If you fought the good fight for the right side, congratulation yourself. (Ignore these shrill, self-serving, ungrateful hysterics crying "traitor!" and "quitter!" They're crying out of fear, because they know they'll be alone again now.)

Maybe your next cause wont be as glorious as a maverick presidential bid. I have to admit, this was more exciting than most.

But if you truly cared about Ron Paul's message, about the freedom message, then you're not done. Freedom is under attack daily, all around us, everywhere you look - so much so, that you probably turn a blind eye to most of it, just to keep life livable.

Whatever cause brought you to Ron Paul, I assure you there are people already fighting for it year 'round, in ways that are not plagued with the ups and downs of political campaigns.

Even in your own city, county, or state.

They need your donations. They need your membership. They need your volunteer effort.

Google is your friend. Just as we begged and pleaded for people to just Google Ron Paul and learn the truth, these groups are out there right now wishing you would just do the same thing - Google a cause for your area, and find them, and spend 15 minutes learning about them, and join them.

Welcome to America's civil cold war.

This will be my last visit to DailyPaul. It's only a time-waster now. Entertainment, nothing more.

I hope I'll see some of you around, down the road.
