becoming a congressman
I want to become a congressman, some time in the future. Is it possible to become one without serving in the military?
I'm not afraid of doing it or anything, but my mom is extremely anti-war and said if I joined the military and killed people which she says is wrong, she would disown me and never speak to me again. And as much as I like being independent, I like my family a lot...
I know I could never be president without military service, but is it possible to become a congressman or senator?

I bet if we had a rule that the President had to go to battle when we wnet to war, there would be no wars.

Right! At least in the old days, the king rode into battle at the FRONT of his troops, and not infrequently bit it in the middle of the fight.
Can anyone picture George Bush or Hillary Clinton at the head of a platoon? The mind reels even attempting it!
