UPDATE - - - looks like we need 200 signatures not 500!
We've got an emergency here in Indiana relating to getting Ron Paul on the ballot. Due to disinformation that I still can't sort out, we need to collect about 500 signatures from Indiana residents especially from Monroe County. I've been out of town working with the grassroots campaign in New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida and Missouri.
My name is Aaron Jones - I'm the assistant Meetup organizer for the Bloomington Ron Paul group. We need your help getting this urgent need out to the public. Anyone who cares about the democratic process would want every choice to be included on the ballot in Indiana. You need not be a supporter of Ron Paul to sign this petition. Please urge those who would sign this petition to go to "Baked of Bloomington" located at 113 W. 7th Street, in between College Ave. and Walnut St. next to Max's Place.
YOU CAN TURN THEM IN TO THE COUNTY CLERK BY NOON
ON TUESDAY 12TH.
We must have these petitions by Monday night. (feb 11th)

We still desperately need sigs in the 4th, 8th, and 9th . . . they have to be turned in to the respecitve county clerk by noon on Tuesday Feb 12, retrieved by whomever delivers them to the county, and then immediately gotten to John Downey so we can file them with all other petitions the week of Feb 18th. If we don't get 500 verified sigs in each of the nine congressional districts, we don't get on the ballot anywhere in Indiana.

Once crossing that bridge-namely, the one connecting primary elections to the constitutional constraints on general elections-the Rockefeller court did not have far to go in declaring this particular collection of restrictions to be "undue" under the First Amendment. The court first emphasized the uniqueness of a presidential campaign: As opposed to state and local elections, presidential candidates must campaign throughout the nation and contend with more than fifty different ballot access laws. Thus, to make a state "not worth the effort" of a petition drive or a campaign, the state's ballot access laws need only be "substantially more burdensome than other states."78 When taking into account the actual number of signatures needed to qualify for the ballot in each of the thirty-one congressional districts, New York's ballot access laws were perhaps the "most restrictive," at least twice the number required by second-place Indiana. Then, the court turned to Forbes's particular experience: He spent about $1 million solely on a petition drive, hired 320 petition circulators (who worked a total of 37,500 hours), and he still came up short (after challenges) in four districts. (Pat Buchanan, who allegedly ran a "grass roots" campaign, was able to get on the ballot in twelve districts.)

i live in IN and would love to hear how this happened. 2 weeks ago nothing was said about a need for signatures. not even a week ago. then all of a sudden with just a few days before the deadline we need massive amounts of signatures. i'm pretty sure in a conference call over a month ago the Paul campaign said we were good. so either we have a traitor in our midst who didn't turn in the signatures like they said they would, or the people accepting the CAN-8's are Paul haters, or somebody can't count.
i'm already on the ballot as a delegate and will support nobody else but Ron Paul. so don't break my heart and tell me i won't get a chance to support the man.

Just a suggestion: If you can go to the supermarkets and department stores you will pick up plenty of signatures.

My guess - The counties didn't accept all signatures submitted.
They did this to my dad in Monroe County, Indiana in 1976 saying that the names were not written out exactly as they were on the voter registration rolls. Of course Dick Lugar (F- Gun Owners of America) and an insider Rhodes Scholar was my dad's competition.
Bottom line - If you forget your middle initial your signature is thrown out. Its crap but this is a tpyical strategy employed by those in power to keep the establishment in power.

Why were the other Indiana meet-ups not informed?!?! I'm in Fort Wayne and this is the first we have heard about this! WTF?! I have forwarded the info to the Kokomo group and my FW group, I hope it can generate some help!! Why wasn't the national HQ on this? Indy group indicated that we were a go in Indiana!

district 4 counties are: Boone, Clinton Hendricks Lawrence Montgomery Tippecanoe and parts of Fountain Johnson Marion White and Monroe.
district 8 is the western/southern area from Evansville to Terre Haute and surrounding areas.
district 9 is the eastern/southern area including New Albany (south) and Columbus (more to the north)
Hope this helps...can anyone find exact counties for 8 and 9?

In Indiana voters don't register by party, so anybody registered can sign these petitions.
