Tenative Date to March on DC: April 30th

There are a few good reasons for April 30th to be the day. First off, it is both soon enough, as Dr. Paul requested, and not too soon which gives us time to plan.

Secondly, that is the release date of Dr. Paul's book "The REVOLUTION."

How fitting would it be to march on the date of its release just as we are being "released" to the public.

One thing to keep in mind is marching on Washington on a Wednesday works best in our favor for a number of reasons as well. As with all major marches announced on Washington there is ample media coverage before hand in the anticipation of what is actual going to transpire.

Also, after the GREAT SUCCESS of the march on April 30th, we get 3 days of media coverage afterwards. Weekend news is often overlooked and this is the importance of giving up a a week or so of our time for the cause.

Kick this date around and see how it corresponds with what we are trying to accomplish. There is more to picking a date than just a time of "convenience."

April 19 - GATA Anybody Seen Our Gold

On weekend 18 - 20 April GATA (Gold Anti Trust Action Committe) is having a conference called GATA goes to Washington - Anybody Seen Our Gold http://www.gata.org/node/...

The amount and whereabouts of the nations gold reserves - which are in question - goes to the heart of the problems in Washington and the nation ie the printing of money out of thin air, so this is the ideal weekend ie Sat April 19 to send a massive message to Congress while at the same time bringing attention to Anybody Seen our Gold and the finances of the country. It allows 2 months to plan and spring blossoms should be in the air.

June 21? Constitution Day!

Walt Thiessen proposed this:
(1) First and foremost, it's the day that the Constitution went into effect. On June 21, 1788 New Hampshire became the ninth state to ratify the Constitution. Since Dr. Paul is so strongly associated with strict Constitutional support, it seems most appropriate that his rally be held on the date the Constitution took effect.

(2) June 21, 2008 is a Saturday. It's going to be important to make the march occur on a weekend day, so that people from far and wide can actually attend it.

He also said that it appears that are no other rallys that weekend.

Weekend

We need a weekend for the numbers. Dr Paul seemed to stress that numbers were important for this march. Screw the media, we can record this event ourselves and spread the word.

The media is what has been missing...

We need to make this translate from the web to the MSM and on a weekday it won't get buried!

How many times have I heard, "who has time to sit and search the web?" or "I don't have a computer" or "I have never used a computer in my life and I'm not going to start now". This all from the hard core voting block.

Remember, the general public still believe their getting all they "need to know" from the television or radio (Am/FM). It's unfortunate - but that's the way it is.

I'll be taking an exam in

I'll be taking an exam in Atlanta. No way out of that.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who will be booked.

April 30th

April 30th is good as it's a weekday and congress will be there. It also ensures it doesn't get "lost". During the weekends "Breaking News" tends to get buried.

But we need NUMBERS to make the media sit up and take notice. Since, the college kids are a large part of this revolution, why don't we wait until after May 16th when most of the colleges will be out??

From a PR stand point we have to look at:

1). Weekday ( max. media exposure & congress is in).
2). Numbers (need for a large participation)

Week day? Are you kidding?

You won't have the turn-out during a weekday.

Wouldn't you take time for Dr. Paul?

We can take off of work for this.

The college kids will start loooking for summer jobs after May 16th. Better they know now when it will be so they know how to proceed.

We have to send a message to congress and get media exposure.

APRIL 15 TAX DAY

March Against Taxes and For Ron Paul

Yes

This is the way to get more media attention. Many people will be doing the last minute thing, especially people who owe a lot. Even if it only gets a blurb of media attention, it will weigh heavy on people's minds.

Revolutions are NOT about "convenience"!

We are at a crossroads...This could be the most important moment in OUR history. I don't care what the date is, my family will be there.

I believe early April is too early. We need this to be planned far in advance. Pennsylvania...I get what you are saying, but just be thankful that you have that long to canvass and convince people. Think how this march might affect other delegates that go to the National convention. Believe me the Republican party knows they are in shambles...they WILL see the light.

April 13 - Sunday before Tax Day! 10 days before Pennsylvania

What's the point of a march AFTER all the primaries are over?

Plus, June is too hot! And it is touriam season - so hotel and transport will be too expensive. Remember - most people will have to spend at least one night in a hotel.

I may be a vegetarian, but I'll defend to the death my right to eat pork!

June 6 and school is out for our family to go

In the early morning hours of June 6, 1944, Americans received word that three years of concerted war efforts had finally culminated in D-day--military jargon for the undisclosed time of a planned British, American, and Canadian action. During the night, over 5,300 ships and 11,000 planes had crossed the English Channel and landed on the beaches of Normandy. The goal of every soldier and civilian involved in that effort was to drive the German military back to Berlin by opening a western front in Europe.

General Dwight David Eisenhower was in command of the invasion, which was code-named Operation Overlord. Just months prior, the 1915 West Point graduate had led the invasion of French North Africa.

IT LOOKS LIKE JUNE 7TH FOR THE WASHINGTON MARCH!!!

Your family can enjoy that weekend; according to www.ronpaulmarch.com

SEE THE DATE IN RED LETTERS AT THE TOP ON THE RIGHT HAND CORNER!!!

Many younger kids are still

Many younger kids are still in school early June, alot of people will not be able to go. Great day though, my B-Day

I hope not -

If you delayed it just a week or two later, the school year would be over and many many young people could attend. To have it in June but not wait till school was finished is, forgive me for being blunt, pretty damn stupid IMO.

I vote the weekend of June 21 - the day the US Constitution was ratified, after schools have let out.

Since June seems to be the ideal month...

what does everyone think of "Father's Day" June 15th. A little play on words but its a weekend.

I hope we figure out a date soon.

April way too early!

Ron Paul recognized the importance and *necessity* of a good turnout and suggested 3-4 months...May or June. Earlier than that will make it a failure...It takes time and preparation.

Sometime in June (middle to late ) is best.

The march is intended to influence the convention-not the primaries..

Make it a success ! Don't rush

Joe Ureneck

Timing of the march

is going to be critical. I live in Pa. and I believe our primary is April 22. If it could be successfully held immediately prior to this It just might shake a few of my fellow Pennsylvanians out of their media induced coma's. I'm not sure but there might be a few more states up around this time too. Regardless a consensus must be made as to when to pull this off and soon. A sidenote...yesterday while enjoying a cold beer at a local drinking establishment I was asked by a casual acquaintance what happened to my candidate that was the UFO nut. After I was finished laying some very choice profanities upon him we had about an hours talk about Dr. Paul and I am convinced he walked away a convert. Keep the faith guys, theres a lot of lies out there that need to be lain to rest. Count me in on the march and anything I need to do to make it come to fruition.

EXACTLY what I was thinking - get RP into the Public Eye!

BEFORE Pennsylvania!

I will be so pissed off if we do not take this opportunity to help him win his home state!

I may be a vegetarian, but I'll defend to the death my right to eat pork!

Might be too early - kids in school still, etc.

I like the middle of the week idea however. Less overlap with media.

I'll be there whatever the date that is decided!

It's a long haul from NW Missouri but I wouldn't miss it for anything.

on the east coast

This is the beginning of finals for most college students. This would reduce the attendance of this group. Further, many people work for a living and would find it better to have a weekend date.

As for news coverage, saturday would allow coverage on the SUnday morning talk shows. Plus, we could perhaps have a simulcast for people who can't travel.

"Convenience" is important if we want people to attend

If the date of the march is inconvenient for many people, we won't get the kind of attendance that is so important to the success of this effort.

The weather on April 30th should be good, but college kids are still in class then, so I vote NO.

April 13 = NO FINALS!!!

It might even catch some Spring Breaks.

It is the Sunday before Tax Day - people can drive in on Saturday, spend the night, march on Sunday and then head home.

I may be a vegetarian, but I'll defend to the death my right to eat pork!

I see the your point...

it is inconvenient which may deter some people to avoid attending. However, we do in fact have enough time to prepare a few study groups and coordinate some help to the college students.

Is it feasible to set up some study groups for those who wish to attend and make arrangements withe the Instructors and Professors that may actually support their students?

Open minded on this effort people. Dr. Paul truly feels we are going to make something huge happen, and its just not possible to pack up and go. We have to get all our ducks in a row.

Yeah, but finals may be in

Yeah, but finals may be in session for some students on that date. Study groups won't help if we're missing the actual tests. It's probably safest to wait until the end of May/early June.

good points

It will come together and I am also open-minded. Not going to rock the boat. Just want it to be the best that it can.

Also, there's another

event on this date - George Washington's First Inaugural Address.

On the negative side, being on a week day and with college-aged people in school, many might not be able to get there.
