I propose April 19th, 2008 to march on Washington, D.C.
"The March Heard Around the World"
This is my reasoning behind this date.
The 22nd of April is Pennsylvania's primary.
75 delegates are at stake. This is the tipping point.
Between April 22 and June 3....411 delegates are at stake.

Dr. Paul said we need to do this very soon, before the end of the primaries. This cannot wait until summer, he made that clear.
General Washin...er, Paul said this must be done quickly, we have no time to waste. June is too late. May is too late. I think April 19th would be perfect timing. It is on a weekend, and it has meaning.

Alerted by Paul Revere the American Revolutionary War began at Lexington Common with the Battle of Lexington-Concord.
The "shot heard ‘round the world” ignited the American Revolutionary War.
April 19th is a Saturday this year, ideal for people because most do not work weekends and have Sunday to get back home.
April 19th is a very significant date in American history.
FDR took America off the GOLD standard on April 19th!!!
All the dates are in June or July - too hot first of all, and too late...the last primary is June 3rd!
The Revolution's umbrella is much bigger than a tax revolt.
April 19th is over 2 months away.

My Thoughts
I mentioned this in an earlier thread on the same topic. I'll mention it here as well.
Why is everybody trying to align the march on DC on an established or historic date?
Let's make our own history and have the march in DC around the time frame RP mentioned. Three months is mid-May.
Let's select a date in mid-May that doesn't have any historical meaning and create our own history with a monumental march on DC.
I would just love to tell my grandchildren that we made history in May 2008 with a march on DC for their future. They can tell thier grandchildren the story, as they read along in modern history books.
Let's make history, not repeat history.
Any date before April 22....

I do have to agree that despite the significance of 4/19, too many have kids in school or are students and can't travel that soon.
As Dr. Paul stressed, this HAS to be HUGE and numbers mean more than choosing a cool date, imho.

Alex suggested July 4th or Memorial Day, and Ron obliged...kind of contradicting his own statement of doing this rather swiftly.
The power of suggestion is very powerful, and I do not think it is wise to hold a massive march in the middle of Washington D.C. when it's 95 degrees and humid during a major holiday.
July 4th is pie in the sky politics, not reality. There will be so much activity in Washington on that day our message will be in serious danger of being drowned out by all the activities. People will think it's some kind of rally because it's July 4th. They will assume our message is part of the festivities. I personally do not want to be in our nation's capital on this holiday, I'd rather celebrate the day with my friends and family.

I always thought Sunday was the Sabbath for Christians? I did not know 7th Day Adventists worship on Saturday.
For Jews, it is Saturday, Christians Sunday.
The Sun in Sunday is the Son, or our sun...energy MANifested on earth and personified in Jesus Christ.
That's my take...
Don't get me going on the Law of thermodynamics...of how energy can be neither created nor destroyed. The Revolution cannot be destroyed, America cannot be destroyed.

April 19th is a hit with me
April 19th is a hit with me for all the reasons posted below. I also like the suggestion of 3 locations, D.C., Las Vegas, and Chicago. I feel with these 3 locations more people will be able to participate. Getting to D.C. from NM is an all day trip, but getting to Las Vegas is only 1.5 hour flight, so much more doable.

It has the right historical significance and it's a Saturday
A Saturday is the ideal day.
A Saturday is the ideal day.
It won't be too hot, and it shouldn't be too cold in late April Washington, D.C.
People can get home by Sunday night in order to be at work come Monday.
College students will be off from school, people will be off from work, and it is a day we can call our own.

That's one hell of an advertising slogan.
I refuse to take credit for the April 19th date....this is NOT my idea, it's an idea that is going to soon be 233 years old.
Organize it then
I'm not talking about putting up a website and hoping you get plenty of people who share your idea. I'm talking about:
1) Calling every major college and getting dependable students or teachers to get people to D.C.. Start with the Big 10 then go for each state's universities.
2) Contacting every 1700 plus meetup group and make sure they are on board and make sure they have transportation.
3) Contact the National Campaign and tell them that you want to organize the April 15th march and that is the date they should endorse. This is the first step because everyone for Ron Paul respects his word on rallies.
Its alot of work, but we can all divvy it up. Anyone with any web skills that can section off the meetup groups, the colleges etc. or their state?

Seems to me that the case should be prepared for each major date that has a following. I see many pluses for April 19th with the Paul Revere ride...off the Gold Standard etc. and, yes, even the anniversary of Waco. I hope zoo will put together his/her case and others will do the same for other dates. Considerations:
1) Timing-A lot of work will need to be done....getting permits, availability of sites, etc. (And, actually the 4th and Memorial Day could present problems for that very reason.) So...feasibility of a date that early is important as far as getting everything done.
2) Getting others on board. I'm thinking possibly Rolling Thunder might be persuaded to change date as in combination with the Freedom March, all resistance groups will have their voices heard better from this venue. A major portion of this should be anti-war and pro-veterans.
3) Speakers-I believe many who know how dire the situation is will recognize that it is time to take a stand despite the impact it might have on them professionally. Therefore, the sooner the date is decided the better.
There will be no date that everyone will agree with. (Vacation plans, kids in or out of school, good/bad things happening on a certain date, etc. etc. etc.) But once the date is selected and the plans are made....everyone will get excited. Somebody said RP and staff are the deciders. Well, maybe, but I believe that he would LOVE to see the various dates with the cases made for them...add his two cents worth and then let us vote. And it needs to happen real soon.

I know the anti-war site will get on board and I am also thinking that our world-wide movement will as well. Remember the under publicized fact that 100's of thousands marched all over the world in protest of our invasion of Iraq. Perhaps they will again once our world-wide meet-ups get involved, marching with us (wherever they are) in solidarity.
Also, this does present the BEST EVER opportunity for group interests to be heard: For instance, alternative health....farmers...homeschoolers, etc. get huge petitions together re: their special interests in liberties being taken away and then have large contingents march on Washington with their petitions all related back to the constitution.

This is the best date because it is BEFORE the remainder of the primary/caucuses and can have a huge impact on the election.
A Saturday is better than any other day because it gives people the opportunity to travel on Friday, land in D.C. on Saturday and travel home Sunday to be at work by Monday.

There are a lot of reasons to do it this day.
Every Day has had something Negative
to avoid being associated with any of the negatives we just have to make videos and bill the event as The March Heard Round the World - much like the Tea Party donations did.
It also goes with the rEVOLution theme and would be a great rallying cry.

I think a big reason why the Tea Party was so successful was because of the meaning behind it, and the date connected to it. That's a powerful message! The Tea Party money bomb was hugely successful because of the MESSAGE behind it, and its historical value helped in a major way.
If money bombs have proven anything, the DATE is very important.
The 5th of November, the Tea Party, MLK Day, Ron & Carol's anniversary...
It seems like the more historical value associated with the date = bigger numbers and more attention.
The DATE of this march is VERY important, and it will help us if we have a historical event to attach our message to.
Dates Don't Matter to Me
I don't think the dates had much to do for the money bombs. I could have cared less when they were. I was just excited about seeing how much we could raise.
The date for the March could be anytime. I wouldn't associate it with anything. The thing motivating me is to be part of a huge march that will send a message.
