The so-called "liberal mainstream media" is a total myth. The mainstream media is consolidated into a handful of enormous corporations whose interests are corporate profits---and who ran liberals like Kucinich and Edwards out of the race with the same kind of slant-and-ignore treatment that Dr. Paul has received.

Forgetting about the t.v. networks, just look at the New York Times and the Washington Post, considered by many to be the flagship "liberal" papers.
The New York Times reporter, Judith Miller, acted as a sounding board for the neo-con lies which were spread to instigate the Iraq invasion. So Rove could say, "Don't believe us---believe the 'liberal' New York Times." This is not the same paper that published the Pentagon Papers in defiance of the White House 40 years ago. Most recently, this so-called liberal paper added Bill Kristol, intellectual architect of the Iraq war and correlated policies, as its newest opinion columnist.

Furthermore, neither the print media of newspapers and magazines, nor the old broadcast networks, have anywhere near the influence on public opinion that the radio talk shows and the Fox channel cable t.v. propagandists exert.

Scores of millions of Americans spend their commutes fighting traffic, gettting riled up with adrenalin, and listening to Rush and Hannity and O'Reilly and those even more opinionated and angry, like Glenn Beck and Michael Wiener.
Those are the voices that shape the debate and define the issues in what passes for political dialogue in this country. Of course, these so-called conservatives are also only puppets of corporate masters. Rush went down in flames for Romney---whose business interests include Rush's corporate employers, i have heard. A bunch of chickenhawks, they promote war, all war, with enthusiasm---not for our country's sake, as they pretend, but rather because modern war is so damn profitable that their corporate string-pullers never want it to stop. And McCain, whose vision calls for a hundred-years'-war, will suit them even better than Romney or perhaps even better than the power-hungry Giuliani. Mack will do their bidding because he BELIEVES in it, and doesn't even want a cut of the take.

As for the Washington Post, it's a Bilderberger/CFR mouthpiece through and through. While they limp-wristedly criticize the Bush/Cheney administration for lapses in style, this is definitely NOT the Post that pursued the Watergate break-in all the way to the Oval Office.

As Dr. Paul said in Minneapolis two weeks ago: "Thank goodness for the internet!"
