+The smartest Money Bomb idea+++++ old thread returns
right now is for Ron Paul's book to outsell Barack Obama's. I'm sure others have had this idea.
1) It's cheap. For around $15 even the most financially destitute Ron Paul supporter can feel like they're participating. Plus it works for those who are maxed out.
2) It's tangible. Buy a half dozen or a dozen books and you've also just bought the greatest selling tool for Dr. Paul. Giving it to someone is a personal act, more powerful than a slimjim in a mailbox. Besides, the books could be brought to the March on DC.
3) If we want to be able to say something of the scale and power of "broke the online findraising record" and "has more active military contributions than other candidates combined," then we can't do much better than "his new book has outsold Barack Obama's."
4) It's sexy. Charm matters. Buzz matters. Outselling Obama, unless we're stupid enough to announce to the world that 50 thousand of us bought 7 books each, is undeniably intriguing.
5) It creates a promotion machine. Who do you think gets booked on Regis and GMA and Today and Conan and Colbert and Charlie Rose and all the big radio shows and on and on? The producers of those shows are so used to booking authors, the skids are already greased once you say you've outsold Obama.
6) Most importantly, it changes hearts and minds. Perception of Ron and his ideas escape rude and careless marginalization, and rise to the level of intelectual might.
When the book is released, we must organize around this. I'm an author, and wouldn't mind helping if others liked the idea and joined me. We could look into the sales figures. I bet 350,000 books would do it for RP.

Book Signings
Big crowds at book signings don't hurt, either. Today, according to reports, Borders had run out of The Revolution: A Manifesto by 1:05 -- yes, that's right, five minutes after the event started. Hundreds of people were there -- in the middle of a work day. Two hours later Dr. Paul was still signing books, according to someone who went back again.
Now that is seriously exciting.
I bought
2 today!
Thanks for resurrecting this
Thanks for resurrecting this old thread Night Owl. An old thread but a good idea, not necessarily my idea either. If people are serious, organizing this would be very, very easy.

This WILL Get Us Noticed
Book sales DO matter, and DO get free publicity. This is the simplest, cheapest way we can all further the Revolution.
BUMP this again and again.
I think we should MARCH to the bookstore.
Only a handful agree with us? Imagine the website graph of Obama and Paul book sales. Let me add this to the original post's list: the millions of seniors watching Regis would be more intrigued and less frightened by RP-bestseller than RP DC-protester. To many of them, the 60s and 70s marches on Washington signify turmoil and chaos, something to fear. Marching to the bookstore is a wise countermeasure.

just bought the book
just bought the book
It's here!
I bought the audio version and it just now arrived. (Only wish Dr. Paul had read it)
Brilliant
I'm on my way.
Great Idea!
See you all later....I have to go order/buy 7 copies of RP's newest book, mail my delegate nomination form and do some canvassing...
Buying now raises another good point...
though this could be a Money Bomb in the sense it has goals, a website and some serious on-line cheerleading, it doesn't --- it fact it shouldn't --- happen in one day. An early goal might be to outsell Obama by a date of 2 weeks prior to the March on DC.
-JP
I didn't think of that
Especially because you can do it if you are maxed out. I'm not going to buy every copy available at B Daltons today, but I am going to make sure every copy gets bought today. I think it would look bad if one person bought all 20 copies. That way when someone comes in and asks for it, the clerk will have to say "sorry, we are sold out". What creates demand and interest more than reduced supply? Plus I can give these copies to friends who truly don't have much more to give. They have earned it.
Discounted Price
The book is discounted to $14.28 like it is already a NYT best seller. I don't mind the lower price but $17.76 would have been a great price. You can pick up 7 copies for just under $100.
So the math, in round numbers,
is 50,000 Paulites buying 7 books at about $100, and we can leap over Obama. Doable, based on previous money-bomb efforts.
If there is momentum to get this done, I'll build a team and get it done. Not going to cheerlead though. Anybody want to lend a hand?

Obama Selling a Book = The Apocalypse is Near
Obama has nothing to say to anyone other than a brainwashed prolatariat. His followers are hoping beyond hope that he is the one not because of anything tangible, but because of years of propaganda. He is no different than anyone else in the field except Ron Paul (as you all know). I don't like Marx, but the terms prolatariat, serfs, etc., are really correct because the entire middle class (from upper - doctors, lawyers for the most part) to blue collar and below are comprised of the ignorant, controlled masses doomed to be exploited by the Bourgois.
However, there is a current awakening due to pervasive dissatisfaction among the peasants. Hopefully, it's more than a death rattle.
Yep
yepper
I Agree
It would also be great for the long term movement. The key to growing the movement is educating the masses. What better way than with a book. I'm just hoping that it's good.
Isn't the new book fresh in
that it is not a reprinting of his floor speeches and letters to constituents?
-JP
I agree with you.
I think we need to set our sights on a very successful launch for this book. This book could potentially be huge for the revolution, and I would love to see it bring us much needed momentum going into the march in DC and the convention.
We need this book to become the next "it" book. It could bring a lot more people into the movement.
Why Not On Those Shows
I wonder why Dr. Paul can't get on shows like that. There are so many talk and news shows out there. Charlie Rose you think would not be hostile to him. He is a fair guy.
