Idea to fix congress.

The House needs a committee..

Called the Committee on Constitutional Compliance.

Every bill goes through the CoCC prior to open debate.

Members of the committee are nominated by the Supreme Court justices from the current HOR members and approved by the Senate.

No more than 21 members on the committee and all bills must pass by 2/3 majority.. They must ensure that all parts of a bill, including amendments, comply with the consitution.

Lets see congress make government bigger with those rules in place..

That's a Great Idea

for any new law under consideration. Have a Constitutionality litmus test to insure future laws fall within the framework of the Constitution. Maybe the first draft could be reviewed by a few high school civic's classes and be graded by them before moving to committee. I am sure the kids would stay on the straight and narrow much better than most of the current Congressional members.

Then for the myriad of the existing un-Constitutional laws already on the books they can simply be repealed and Sunset-ed with appropriate transition provisions.

Whew, we have a lot of work to do.

First we need to get RP elected, so canvass, canvass, canvass. This is our most effective grassroots endeavor. There is nothing like a people to people campaign. You don't have to sell Freedom. It is something we are all yearning for.

Let's link each MeetUp with the closest one down the street or the next neighborhood and then we both work toward the middle bringing in dozens, no hundreds, no thousands of new members each week all accross the country. With the apathetic non-voters numbering in the millions, maybe more than 30 million, we can bring them back by showing them there is a REAL Candidate with REAL solutions - Ron Paul! But we have to dig in and work. So let's roll up our sleeves and get to it. We can make it happen if we all want it badly enough!

We have more than 8 months until the November election. If we each set a personal goal to find 5 new members a month, and they in turn each find 5 more, then our eforts will become viral. We can write in RP on the first Tuesday of November, regardless of what happens at the Convention in September.

LET'S TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK. LET'S WIN IN NOVEMBER

I was actually just thinking this same thing the other day..

You know how our government is setup for checks and balances. I even thought up a name - 'the constitution committee'

The sad part is this just inflates an already overwhelmingly sized bureaucracy that is supposed to be checking things against the constitution to begin with. If we just keep instituting new bereaucracies pretty soon everyone will be a government employee and everyone will spend the day watching everyone else.

And that takes us FAR away from what we believe in on so many levels. I think the best action is to form an unofficial watchdog committee that keeps track of state and federal officials votes and targets those who fail to abide for unelection, be it by impeachment, campaigning for an alternate during re-election time, etc. Do what we can to get the bums out of office.

Bottom line: we are already paying these nitwits to uphold the oath they took to uphold the constitution. It's time to weed them out and trade them in on a newer, more efficient model.

my .02 (which is now worth about 5 cents)

Not a bad idea, except that it should be a citizens' panel.

I've thought for years that a big mistake in Philadelphia 1787 was not requiring a judicial review of legislation for constitutionality before it passes.

We'de do better running a

We'de do better running a National Referendum and trying to get a Constitutional Amendment.
