Calling All Fellow Patriots ***
The Bill S1959 is before the Senate - This bill if passed will end the Internet as we know it - remove our basic right of freedom of speech - right to assemble - This bill will totally undermine our Constitution * Our Bill of Rights * & give terrible powers to the Homeland Security Forces. Contact your Senator. Talk to their aids & then leave an email. How in the hell could the house pass this almost unanimously?

I will try & email all the Senators over the weekend. Very easy to do by using the White House Link above & then just copy & paste.
Now is the time to do Something for the good of your Country - Dr. Paul has given the message about this very subject! Time to Get Cracking!

Done! I emailed Sen. Boxer.
She laughed...

And you thought the patriot
And you thought the patriot act was bad? Meet his evil, bionically enhanced step brother.
I wonder
if Barack, Clinton, or McCain will vote for this insidious bill.
We should pressure them to back off this bill. Our Revolution not only supports Ron Paul, but we support everything that Ron Paul is For or Against.
God given rights
If Bush and Cheney & Co. will not be charged with treason, crimes against humanity, and other inhuman actions, then the law of America or even the International law, are worth nothing. These institutions are there to protect the criminals, and punish the innocent. I am a believer in higher powers, and I think the time has come for some balance to be restored to our race. I pray for the Creator of All to recognize this unbalance, and that the People, his creation, are not responsible for what has become to our planet, and will help bring some balance to this ongoing disaster. Let us all pray, it costs nothing.
well...
there are some calls for the right thing to be done. Cindy Sheehan is running against Nancy Pelosi for her congressional seat---funny how the media darling of last year isn't making news on the MSM for this, isn't it? Anyway, she is asking (challenging) Pelosi to do her DUTY and begin proceedings, and has amassed some considerable support. She has a campaign website up, but I can't think of the name just now...
Congressman Robert Wexler is asking for hearings for the right thing to be done, as well (can you tell I'm reticent to say just what that is? Can anyone say "police state"? haha)
It is high time that good people do SOMETHING to right this wrong being perpetuated on the American people....I'm encouraged, at least.
I have been tracking this bill
go to www.govtrack.com.
This bill, known as H.R. 1955 has already passed the House!!
"The Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007 (H.R. 1955/S 1959) was introduced by Rep. Jane Harman (D-California) on April 19, 2007, and scheduled for debate on August 1, 2007. The bill passed the House of Representatives by a 'roll call vote' conducted on October 23, 2007 under a 'rules suspension' subsequently noted by Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) in a Speech to Congress on December 5, 2007 The resolution was next sent to the Senate where it was referred on to the Committee on Homeland Security."
The clock is ticking.
It is currently "in committee", but you must be careful because bills in committee often get "slipped" in with other legislation under a different title.
Funny how this NEVER gets brought up in debates where THREE SENATORS participating have this before them, isn't it?
Sonny, can you elaborate
Sonny, can you elaborate specifically on why you believe S.1959 is bad and also how it will end the Internet as we know it?
I read through the summary and do like the very last part which states:
"Requires the Secretary to ensure that activities to prevent ideologically based violence and homegrown terrorism do not violate the constitutional rights, civil rights, and civil liberties of U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents."
I don't know about the entire Act, and actually do not put much faith into summaries, but I do like requiring that the activities do not violate the constitution, civil rights, etc.
It does sound great...
...but you can't uphold the Constitution AND follow this bill simultaneously.
The 1st Amendment says that Congress shall make no law respecting religion.
H.R. 1955/S. 1959 targets ideological-based violence at the religious level. The bill targets Islam ("organized crime, Islam and other world religions..."), but Islam is not the problem. The problem is with a few people who happen to follow the Muslim religion.
Now, the trend can be seen with Giuliani, McCain, Bush and Cheney (and others) that the U.S. must target and eradicate Islamofascism. In Giuliani's ad prior to ending his campaign, he called Iraq a "nation perverted." So, now the entire nation...every single citizen living in it... is an Islamofascist terrorist, and McCain is willing to spend the next 100 years eradicating all of them.
But, there are Muslims in the U.S., which this bill clearly identifies...
and
So, this bill promotes religious Intolerance by the federal government AND seeks to monitor and censor all internet traffic.
So, yes. This bill will definitely change the internet as we know it. The sad thing is, a very large portion of this bill is designed to tackle and monitor the psyche of the individual.
The major questions to ask are:
1. How are they going to deem what internet information can/will/may/did cause homegrown terrorism?
2. How will they try to predict how each person reacts to a source of information?
3. If someone performs a search for "Islam," will that person be labeled a homegrown terrorist?
4. The media doesn't present all the news of the world, whether due to time limits or by governmental design, so will this law actually censor out all information regarding the Middle East from entering the U.S. via internet, and if not, how accurate/intact/whole will that information be?
5. Is the federal government trying to implement the Chinese standard of censoring everything?
6. Will the federal government eventually claim "islamofascist terrorists are posing as Christians, therefore all Christians are now suspect and must be monitored?"
Now...
How is it even possible to pre-determine, accurately, how one will react to any source of information? Like a Breathalyzer attached to the car of a repeating DWI offender, will we have to wear brain-scanning equipment in order to use the internet? Tough questions!
So, Harman suggested that Universities help with this area. This is noted by the words "local efforts," in conjunction with SEC. 899C. NATIONAL COMMISSION ON THE PREVENTION OF VIOLENT RADICALIZATION AND IDEOLOGICALLY BASED VIOLENCE.
In other words, give grant money to Universities to do their own private research, in whatever direction they want to do it in, to find out how to identify, monitor and prevent (by possibly jailing an individual with what charge? and how will that be defended in court?) to *prevent* a POSSIBLE homegrown terroristic activity.
Obviously I could go on and on about this bill. But the major concern you brought up is that one would be protected by the Constitution.
Well...Habeas Corpus is not a guarantee anymore for people charged with anything related to terrorism or possible terrorism or links to terrorism (web links?). So, this bill really provides NO protection for anyone charged with any crime (if you could call any of these charges a crime).

Following is a summary by the Congressional Research Service:
The following summary is provided by the Congressional Research Service, which is a nonpartisan government entity that serves Congress and is run by the Library of Congress. The summary is taken from the official website THOMAS.
8/2/2007--Introduced.
Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007 - Amends the Homeland Security Act of 2002 to add a new section concerning the prevention of violent radicalization and homegrown terrorism.
Establishes within the legislative branch the National Commission on the Prevention of Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism to: (1) examine and report on facts and causes of violent radicalization, homegrown terrorism, and ideologically based violence in the United States; (2) survey methodologies implemented by foreign nations to prevent such radicalization and terrorism; and (3) build upon, bring together, and avoid unnecessary duplication of related work done by other entities toward such goal.
Directs the Secretary of Homeland Security to establish or designate a university-based Center of Excellence for the Study of Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism in the United States to assist federal, state, local, and tribal government homeland security officials in preventing violent radicalization and homegrown terrorism in the United States. Requires the Secretary to ensure that activities to prevent ideologically based violence and homegrown terrorism do not violate the constitutional rights, civil rights, and civil liberties of U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents.
Home Grown Terrorism - That is insane
Piece by Piece their Legislation is getting passed - Soon every citizen will hear these frightening words - ' Papers Please'
&
The National ID Card -..is another step towards a communist/socialist society here in our grand country the United States! This ID will make it so that we can not open a bank account...enter a government building(even the post office) it would be an automatic jail-able offense if one is caught driving without THE ID CARD Also the Canadian and Mexican governments will have access to all of our information thanks to this act!
Remember These : Now Largely GONE!!!

Received a Encouraging Reply
From one of my State's Senators! He too is very concerned about our Civil Liberties & Constitutional Rights being in harms way! So IT DOES WORK! NOW YOU DO SOMETHING & CONTACT YOUR SENATORS!
Whose your Senator?
Which state? I want to move there.
What do you mean by
"Asking questions & seeking answers is an act of Terrorism"?
If this bill is passed
Many innocent situations could be labeled Home Grown Terrorism -
Asking questions & demanding answers from one's Government on the Subjects of the War for Oil - or Health Care etc. at a rally could easily get one 'Listed' - Asking questions of a sensitive nature online. Do some research & be enlighten. I have nothing against a strong Terrorism Bill, just not one that also takes away our precious & dwindling Civil Liberties
Home Land Security is ready to become much much more involved in our everyday lives. They just need a few more pieces of legislation to pass
That's what I thought . . .
Shouldn't it read "Asking questions & getting answering is NOT terrorism"?
Yes I agree I should of worded it that way.
I would be the first to admit that I am lacking when it comes to providing a well written post. I suppose I strive for the message. I do admire those who can just make their words flow & their idea's thought provocative. If it wasn't for spell check, most of my posts would probably be unreadable. I do know one thing for sure - Ron Paul is indeed a rare jewel of the sort that no longer walk this earth!
