It's Official: The Freedom March is Coming!
Ron Paul 2008 has formed its March Exploratory Committee and is giving careful thought to the best date, specific format, and other details of the upcoming Ron Paul freedom march. We’ve also set up a new e-mail address for the committee, so supporters can send their ideas, suggestions, questions, etc. Please remember that the committee has a lot of information to sift through even before suggestions start pouring in, so be patient. This will be a great event, and it requires careful planning.

Pull your kids out of school
and take them with you to the march. Make it a protest to the public school system. Besides, they will learn much more from being in the march than they would being in class. Instead of learning "history", they can be a part of making it.
Field Trip`
You can make it a school day and call it a field trip.. That's what I am going to do.. woot woot...
Children Safe At This?
With the ways things are going with the Gestapo, do you feel it will be safe for our children to attend with us?
Yes
It will be safe... I promise I wont throw water balloons at them lol.. kidding my kids love to do that .. But this will be a friendly march and they will get to see their parents standing up for something that our country is gradually losing.. Happy day to ya!

Of course there needs to be some age considerations by responsible parents -- I know I personally wouldn't want to bring my six young grandchildren along even though they have every right to be there same as I do. That's just too many people to me moving around in and too many people can make for a wild ride at times. And then there's all that missing children disappearance thing to consider. I would think it wouldn't be such a good idea to treat this as a pic-nic or a Sunday stroll. But that's just me talking.
I'm bringing my child. I
I'm bringing my child. I think it will be safe. I trust all of you to protect me! In return, I will protect you.
Ride Sharing // Help Others Get There & Back

For me the distance to travel is of no concern (I live @ 80 miles from DC) but for others it is certainly a BIG PROBLEM -- would be a good idea if folks opened up their hearts (and cars, etc) and provided transportation to and from the march. Perhaps a bulletin board (here in the forum) for those having space to share and exact location for meet up might be a feasible plan to consider. Or maybe some of that RON PAUL $$ donations we've provided to-date might be used to rent multiple bus transport -- that might be even a better idea, I think, than sharing a ride with complete strangers. I know that parking for automobiles is entirely out of the question in DC -- I have trouble finding a parking spot just when visiting museums in the area.
Still there's the matter of lodging to consider for long distance travellers isn't there. Maybe a bit more of those $$ for discount hotel space. I can see the problems of transportation and lodging taking a monster turn just thinking about those as potential problems. Maybe getting permission to set up circus/revival tents on the Mall might be somehow possible -- for lodging. It could all work out couldn't it -- somehow; I would think so. Maybe each person travelling long distance might be encouraged to bring a sleeping bag and necessary items for a one night stay over. A massive amount of food necessary to feed all those people is another problem -- and then toilet facilities. How in the hell are these things normally approached?
I like some of their ideas
-Bring lots of camcorders
-Buy Ron Paul's book, read the book, bring the book
-Wear a tag - "Talk to me about": ..then a couple of things you're interested in..and try to connect as much as possible, exchange emails and numbers
-Bring a stack of $1 bills for a big bonfire outside the Fed
-Wear gold
-Bring the Constitution
Let's hear from the committee
The date, time,place please.
Interest is starting to fade.
Let's start to accumulate names
March
I would keep the march date away from major holidays like July 4th..DC is mobed on major holidays and there is no sense spending all day stuck in traffic..Also, when huge crowds are expected in DC security is also tightened..On a less crowed day we would be seen as a less threat to anyone and probably would be more visible and allowed more freedom to protest...Also, I think a lot more thought needs to go into the EXACT theme of the march !
me too....
I'll be there too. I can't wait. I'll bring the entire family. Ron Paul rocks!!!
Count me in! Ill be marching
Count me in! Ill be marching side by side with Ron!

Attend a Church of your choice this Saturday
On "march" date:
Thinking about it, first week of May or so may be best date: Time to plan it and weather still not too hot. It shouldn't be a particular date in history. It should be a date we choose and call it "Ron Paul Freedom Day." I can think of no better tribute to one of the greatest Americans this country has ever seen.
Any agree?
I agree with most
of what you are saying, except, this is a big country and there will be lots of driving to be done and everyone cannot leave their kids at home, so I am thinking right after school is out. Many more attendees after school and college is out. Early, early June??
June is better than May
May conflicts with college/university finals. It would be kinda dumb to automatically eliminate so many supporters, many who will be willing and able to participate. The campaign has already harnessed college power in Iowa and NH. Commonsense says more people will be able to attend after school is done.
I'd personally prefer earlier but it doesn't make sense.
March date
I agree May
Pick a date and let's get going.
What About This
A Modest Proposal:
Ron Paul Revolution:
“March to Restore the Constitution”
June 21, 2008
VISION: Restore the Constitution and Bill of Rights for Our Children
MISSION: Get out Ron Paul’s message, break the MSM blackout and educate America
STRATEGY: A red, white and blue Freedom March on Washington to “Restore the Constitution and Bill of Rights” led by Ron Paul and Rolling Thunder to Mall for speakers and concert
TACTIC: Follow-up red, white and blue July 4, 2008, Ron Paul Revolution Picnic with speakers and concerts on each state capitol’s lawn
These dates provide both symbolism and practicality. Other weekends in Washington will be described by MSM as mostly tourists to minimize our numbers. When our nonviolent Revolution arrives we want them to know how many we really are without leaving any doubt. The July 4th follow-up would probably be huge after Washington and give those at home an opportunity to join us to let MSM know our numbers continue to grow. Ron Paul Revolution media must secure our broadcast streaming over the internet to every available media outlet for simulcast to the world. It’s time to put up, show up, stand up and be counted like our founding fathers and mothers. I believe we could include the convoy from the west which would grow moving east and parade into Washington with over 1.5 million people in attendance. The July 4th Revolutionary Picnic easily could draw over 50,000 people to most state capitols that Friday and would force local and state media coverage through the weekend. It is not just about an election; it’s about restoring our God given Rights and the Constitution for our children. I believe we are many more than what we think or imagine. Truth is on our side and it is very powerful. It’s time for We The People to do what is Right for US and our children.
The Plan
Here's the entire plan: It includes three (3) events. First, the March to Restore the Constitution on June 21, 2008, to Washington. Next, reinforce it with the July 4, 2008, Ron Paul Revolution Picnics at each state capitol. And finally, a huge march with a mass rally of Ron Paul Revolutionaries surrounding the Republican convention in St. Paul, MN in September. That should get us MSM attention, educate the public and let the world know we represent millions of Americans. Much can happen between now and Election Day!
That sounds pretty cool. Good things come in threes =)

will be marching for freedom alongside of everyone marching. If someone gets violent, it will be the adults jobs to sustain the person until the authorities can take them away. We need to have this march done in an orderly fashion in columns and have people volunteer to be security every few coumns. Security personnel will need some type of shirt for this or distinguishing mark handed out to them before the march, so they are not copied by plants in the march. If you are not security, and some craziness breaks out, your only responsibility is to get out of the way and realign with the person(s) next to you. Security will hold the man or woman until the police arrive. Let's march people, I am INNN!!!!
Peaceful March
There is already great discussion about training security personnell the way that we did delegate training.
Anyone with any martial art/other useful training should contact their meetup group and offer to train willing individuals to peacefully subdue someone without injury to themselves OR the person they need to subdue.
By being prepared we CAN have a peaceful march, no matter what.
We take our marching orders from the Constitution!
Meet me at the National Mall.
"We don't have to start a brand new revolution...All we have to do is restore the original Constitution." -Ron Paul
March on Washington I suggest April 16th
The Pope will be in town and I think the international exposure would be
at an all time high!
Another perspective on the march
I posted the link at the bottom of this post because I liked the writer's idea of creating a political organization of our own and a conference to educate and empower. We need somewhere to go after a march. What is the end result?
I do disagree with the writer that this march is pointless. It sends a message to Washington that we are a movement of informed and dedicated citizens who love America and the freedom she stands for, not isolated groups of the "Fringe-element."
However, we need to be careful and aware when we march. I recommend not bringing the kids. Consider possibility of "plants" in the crowd who may become violent (see this link for example- http://www.youtube.com/wa... )
When we march, bring video recorders, voice recorders, extra film and batteries. We need to document the truth. I believe we need to go to Washington DC to experience the size, commitment and energy of this movement, uniting us towards the goal of Liberty.
This march is not just about Ron Paul, but about restoring the Constitution. Invite other groups who are fighting for our freedoms, such as those in the battle over the Trans Texas Corridor and about to lose their homes and land (the beginning of the NAFTA super highway), groups protesting the war, the Constitutionists, people who are fighting against big media...I believe many would march with us to uphold our Constitution.
Pledge to march at RevolutionMarch.com
In Liberty,
Marita

My kids are going too
We homeschool, and our two oldest boys will be coming with us. How could we let our children miss out on such an historic event? What a lesson in government... if only I could have learned all they are learning about our Constituion, our government, and liberty when I was a child. My 7 year old is sold on Ron Paul. He said that if he were president, he wouldn't 'charge' taxes, abortion would be against the law, and he would stop the war in Iraq, just like Ron Paul.
I'm a homeschooling mom too,
And I'm really hoping we can do this as a family. I would love meet you there with my 7 year old daughter. She has learned about the tax on labor, the rights afforded in the Constitution (basic overview), and a little of our history. She has attended two debates, goes with when we canvass, and loves Ron Paul. She would abolish the IRS, the Federal Reserve, and sign the Human Life Amendment.--sounds like they would get along great.
Libera me, let the truth break, what my fears make--Leslie Phillips
my kids are going
too important to not go.
I intend to bring my daughter
No way she's going to miss out on that. And if anybody tries to get violent in the vicinity of my daughter, I will calmly hand her to my wife, and then it will get ugly between me and him.
Actually the complete
Actually the complete opposite with regard to children. With individuals, families and children together the FEDS would be less likely, I believe, to instigate confrontation....
AND they will want to instigate problems.
I agree
With children there,it doesn't
look like an angry mob, just a bunch of families.Gotta love families!
Re "don't bring the kids"
The character of the march changes without kids. This is something that may have to play by ear.
We should probably leave the alcohol at home. And we might want to have our own "security" detail, along with first aid, etc.
It would be a shame for kids to miss out on what may be a pivotal moment in history, and lots of fun (depending how old they are).

That's been updated, it now goes
first they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they really ignore you, then they fix all the numbers, then you lose, then they ignore you again except when they stop to ridicule you some more.

Not well thought out
I've heard two possible dates were proposed by Dr Paul on Alex Jones Show. Memorial Day weekend or 4th of July weekend? WTF??? Who are the geniuses at HQ that come up with this kind of stuff? I'm completely baffled. These 2 dates have to be thee worst dates of the entire year except maybe Christmas.
There are an average of 300,000 people in DC for the fireworks every 4th of July. Of those 300,000 about 40,000 on average are there every year the last 30 years for the Great American Smoke-In. Have you ever heard the news report "40,000 attend pro-marijuana rally in Washington"? No! The other events completely overshadow it. If a million people showed up for the Ron Paul March, the media would report it as "Record crowd turns out for Capitol festivities". There are bands on every corner. You have to park as far away as Rockville Md and Vienna Va. and take the Metro train into Dc. Security checkpoints every 30 yards.
Memorial Day weekend is'nt as bad, but pretty close. Not to mention the Libertarian Party Nation Convention is in Denver that weekend. The Lp nominates a Presidential candidate that weekend. The entire weekend long event is broadcast live on C-Span. Denver is expecting 10-15 thousand people that weekend. Libertarian oriented bands from all over the country have booked gigs all over Denver that weekend. It's been planned for a year. Thats 10-15 thousand people that otherwise would likely attend the Ron Paul March. They're not going to cancel long made travel and room reservations to go to a Ron Paul event in Washington Dc thats going to be overshadowed by national holiday festivities, and be completely ignored by the media because of it.
Rooms for 100 miles around Dc will be impossible to find either of these weekends and very expensive. Charter busses are already largely reserved for theme parks and beaches those weekends, and those Charter busses that are going to Dc those weekends are likely set aside for church groups and private organizations. Gas stations raise the price of gas on those holiday travel weekends. Airports all over the country will be packed with holiday travelers, and flights will be running behind schedule as always.
If the March is held on either of these two weekends you can count me out. I'm not wasting money, canceling already made plans, and going through the holiday travel headache, to attend an event that, because of a national holiday, is not going to have an impact.
4th of july is a dreadful date
Others are OK. Summer in DC is a disaster.
Spring is absolutely beautiful.
I think that it is so cool that for the first time we are getting a direct order form the Doc.
I also think it means something.
It means that he is worried. We have to bring everyone. I don't know how we are going to do it, but, we have to bring everyone.
Everyone in our government needs to know we are behind Dr. Paul....all of us.
I agree and hope that you send your post to the HQ commitee.
"First they ignore you. Then they ridicule you. Then they fight you. Then you win". --Mahatma Gandhi
Remember
If we trust him to run the country, we MUST trust him to give us proper marching orders.
I personally disagree with his choice of a holiday, but perhaps he has a plan.
He has yet to let us down on his timing. Every time we get discouraged, he reveals what's really been going on the whole time and then we remember the trust.
Try to remember the cycle while it's happening...
Also remember that he cannot tell us everything. In all of his recent videos, he has hinted at dark times coming, but is not able to discuss it. We must trust him, now more than ever.

" Legendary Funds Manager Julian Robertson Predicts Utter Global Collapse Stemming
From Bursting of Property Bubble
In a recent interview on CNBC with Ron Insana, one of the “old-timer” funds manager, Julian Robertson, predicted “utter global collapse” as a consequence of the bursting of the world-wide property bubble.
Often called “Never Been Wrong Robertson”, the former head of Tiger Management (once the largest hedge fund in the world), is extremely worried about the speculative bubble in real estate.
Specifically, he is very worried about a world that is sustained by American consumer spending which is in turn 1/4 sustained by a property bubble. He predicts that 20 million people could lose their homes once the property bubble bursts.
Even more worrisome, he thinks central banks around the globe out of desperation will try to re- inflate the world economy with more liquidity that will create an inflationary spiral unseen in the economic history of mankind. “Where does it end?” Insana asked Robertson. “Utter global collapse,” he answered. But not just economic collapse - collapse of epic proportions. Collapse and disintegration of all infrastructure, including government. Inflation will run into the double and triple digits. “Food production will fall. People will be carrying around U.S dollars in wheelbarrows like Germany,” he said.
There will be “total collapse of public infrastructure. Total collapse of medical care systems. All public pension plans, Social Security will collapse. All corporate pension plans will collapse.”
“The American consumer is effectively now supporting the rest of the planet,” he continued. “Consumption rates in all other nations are falling, have fallen to the point that the tax revenues to governments, that the business and industries those nation states are providing is now a net negative number relative to total debt service and public cost, that this exists in virtually every nation state on the planet now.”
And for much of this “doom”, interestingly, he blames the Bush-Cheney “regime”. “They have now consolidated power and money on the planet to the maximum extent possible. The planet’s net liquidity that is its, net free cash flow. Is now a negative number. The planet is not simply sinking into a sea of red ink; it is already sunk. The people just don’t realize it yet,” he said.
According to Robertson, “the Bush-Cheney regime is preparing the nation for transition from democracy into dictatorship because a dictatorship will be necessary to control, in 5 years time, food and water riots.” He said “the federal government, that part of Patriot II Act, the internal exile, that the government is going to have to build now huge detention compounds on federal lands, probably in the West where the land is available, to potentially house 50 million or more citizens that will be in financial ruin.”
In 10 years time, whoever is left will be effectively starting again, he said. “More importantly, and I’m trying to think how we imply this or how we express this to the people, what extraordinary times we are living in and how the destruction of the planet has been engineered by the Bushonian Cabal from 1980 to 1992, and then from 2001 to present, which has effectively destroyed the economic liquidity of the planet,” he said.
Robertson ended the interview by saying that he hopes he is not alive to see this. “The lucky ones are the ones who are my age now,” he said.
Bill Gross in the FT: Rescuing monolines is not a long-term solution What is good for Ambac, the bond insurer, is good for the country. Well, perhaps in the short run if it prevents a run on the shadow banking system – our over-leveraged system of financial conduits that have provided the spending power to keep the US economy going in recent years. But not in the long run.
Those who put their faith in the ability of a finance-based economy to remain healthy are being similarly challenged today. A critic can find numerous examples of incredible, bubble-popping asset structures – from subprime mortgages to structured investment vehicles to collateralised debt obligations squared – that are threatening to reverse the expansion of the shadow banks and break our finance-based economy’s back. The most recent one, however, centers around the monoline insurers with Ambac as the most important link in the chain that presumably cannot be allowed to break.
In a real sense, the monolines have taken on their shoulders a supersized portion of the guaranteed solvency of modern asset structures. In combination with overly generous triple-A ratings on not only these assets but the monoline companies themselves, they have fostered a bubble of immeasurable but clearly significant proportions.
That the monolines could shoulder this modern-day burden like a classical Greek Atlas was dubious from the start. How could Ambac, through the magic of its triple-A rating, with equity capital of less than $5bn, insure the debt of the state of California, the world’s sixth-largest economy?
Mr. Gross articulates a theme we made in yesterday’s missive – the alchemy of wrapping crappy paper in a derivative or insurance contract and making it investment grade is being realized as the fraud it was.
Moody’s downgraded GMAC to Ba3 from Ba2 on Friday.
The IBD/TIPP Economic Optimism index fell to 43, the lowest reading in its history.
AP: Bush reached his lowest approval rating in The Associated Press-Ipsos poll on Friday as only 30 percent said they like the job he is doing, including an all-time low in his support by Republicans. Congress' approval fell to just 22 percent, equaling its poorest grade in the survey. Both marks dropped by 4 percentage points since early January. We want to take a moment and disabuse our readers of the propaganda that has been spewed for years, ‘if only the Fed had pumped more credit after the 1929 Crash, there would not have been depression.’
This is patently wrong. The Fed and NY Fed went Bernanke after the 1929 Crash and pumped as much credit as it legally could until late 1931 when a global gold run handcuffed the Fed. Interest rates then increased, but for only two quarters.
We pulled out an old reference book over the weekend, Economics and Public Welfare - A Financial and Economic History of the United States, 1914-1946, by Benjamin M. Anderson, a professor who taught at Harvard, Columbia and Cal, and was Chase Bank’s economist from 1920-1939.
Professor Anderson notes the Fed and NY Fed aggressively expanded credit after the ’29 crash until they exhausted their ability to create credit in Q3, 1931.
By Q3 1931 the Fed had bought as much collateral they could – the US government only had about $3B of debt issued. This was before FDR created the welfare state and budget deficits generated large issuance of US government debt. And at that time, US law forbade Fed reporting of most instruments.
The stuff hit the fan in 1931, when a series of global crises created global depression. First, Kredit Anstalt went bankrupt on May 12, 1931. Austria collapsed on May 29, 1931. A foreign run on Germany commenced just three days later. The runs of Austria and Germany’s gold supply precipitated an international effort to bail them out in July 1931. After the international bailout effort failed, a run on England commenced on July 13, 1931.
On September 20, 1931, England abandoned the gold standard. Sweden abandoned the gold standard on September 27, 1931. The first run on the US’s gold supply commenced after England’s abandonment.
The run on the US gold supply devastated banking reserves and by law sharply reduced Fed reserves and its ability to create credit. Glass-Steagall mandated that Federal Reserve Notes would be backed 40% by ‘free’ gold. All the Fed’s gold was ‘free’ gold.
“Moreover, Federal Reserve notes were not created by the Federal Reserve banks...they were obligations of the government of the United States issued not by but through Federal Reserve banks. They were issued to the Federal Reserve banks by the government.”
Poignantly, Professor Anderson pens a sub-chapter as, Reckless Buying of Government Securities in 1930 Made for Money Market Tension in Winter of 1931-1932.
“The Federal Reserve System was gambling, using dangerous devices to stave off and unpleasant liquidation, and hoping for a return of the prosperity which was “just around the corner. They succeeded in making cheap money. They succeeded in bringing about a further expansion of bank credit against securities. Sound familiar?
But the Federal Reserve System also succeeded in bringing the banking system of the United States into and extremely vulnerable position, tragically revealed when the foreign run on our gold cam in late 1931, and when depositors, fearful of individual banks, were taking cash out of these banks and hoarding it.”
Foreigners repatriated gold and other securities from US banks. US citizens and businesses hoarded cash, which produced a cataclysmic collapse in system reserves – sound familiar? We are back to the future. Interest rates increased in Q4 1931 to Q2 1932 due to the above-mentioned factors. Treasury notes, which had declined from 4.58% in September 1929 to 0.41% by July 1931, increased to 2.41% by December 1931 and 2.42% by May 1932. Commercial paper went from 6.25% in September 1929 to 2% by July 1931. The rates then increased to 4% by December 1931 and declined to 2.75% - 3.5% by May 1932. The Fed shot all its bullets and that fact precipitated a global run on gold and securities in 1931.
One chapter in the book is, The Consequences of Cheap Money Policy in the United States Down to the Summer of 1927. (Five years of cheap money policies)
A long period of egregiously easy money precipitated stock bubbles in the ‘20s and the past 10 years. When the bubbles burst, the Fed created even more cheap credit until the global financial system revolted.
The WSJ: Federal Reserve officials are acknowledging increasing weakness in the economy, signaling a willingness to cut rates again at their next meeting. But inflation concerns are rising among some officials, indicating the magnitude of their next move may be a matter of contention.
In speeches this week, policy makers said they are expecting a sharp economic slowdown during the first half as the housing slump, credit crunch and market turmoil take a toll on consumers and businesses.
Jeremy Grantham makes a trenchant point in his Barron’s interview. In 2000 to 2002, there were several places ‘to hide’ – bonds, real estate, emerging markets and REITS. But now, only bonds haven’t cascaded. In fact, bonds are very dear, very overvalued, which makes them the final candidate to burst.
More from Grantham: Greenspan and Bernanke have taken a hands-off approach for two consecutive great bubbles, first in TMT -- telecommunications, media and technology -- and second, in housing...And what is the point of a 125-basis-point rate reduction, other than to provide reinforcement for the people who borrow short and lend long? From bankers who have committed every crime you could possibly accuse a banker of, to hedge funds who borrow short, leverage, and invest long in the stock market -- that's who really benefits from the interest-rate reduction. The economy, broadly defined, does not.
I have an exhibit that shows the 30 years prior to 1982 when the debt-to-gross domestic product ratio was completely flat at 1.2 times. Total debt is defined as government debt, personal debt, corporate debt and financial debt. Then in the 25 years after 1982, the flat line goes up at a 45 degrees angle from 1.2 times to 3.1 times GDP. Massive. In the first 30 years, when debt is flat, annual GDP growth is its usual battleship, growing at 3.5% and hardly twitching. After the massive increase in debt, GDP, far from accelerating, grew at 3%. So debt in the aggregate does not drive the economy. The economy is driven by education, man-hours worked, capital investment and technology."
March On!
Doomsday it's almost here. Liquidate. Obtain dual citizenship if you can.
In the meantime, march on Washington.
