Wiki Article on Kenny Wallace
"Kenny and Armando Fitz announced on February 7th, 2008 that Kenny will be driving in the Nationwide Series in the #36 Shark Energy Drink Dodge Full-Time in 2008.
Wallace has announced his support for presidential candidate Ron Paul and plans to race with Ron Paul logos on his car."
If he already plans on doing it, then why do they need the money? I'm sure Kenny Wallace can foot the bill if needed? If you finish dead last in nascar, you could still make a six figure check for that one race...
You trust Wiki?????
wow...
Faily objective statement
Do you trust anything you read on the internet?
Edit: Obviously you do.
Not a blind follower....
....when I'm asked for money to support something. The statement about Shark is fine, however I have not seen a cited source for Kenny's support. It does not matter if he likes RP or not, his statement does not give any weight to the request for funds. Than being said, if you could cite his quote on NASCAR.COM or Jayski; that helps.
Your arguement...
somewhat coinsides with mine... If he likes RP so much, then why isn't the ad free?
Agree
Most teams will place charity ads on their rides gratis; Petty- Victory Junction, Hendricks- Bone Marrow.
Again, all I would like is an official confirmation for the potential sponsership. I have spoken to some one at activ8, and hope to have that confirmation in a few hours.
Just to venture a guess.. a
Just to venture a guess.. a 'price tag' has been put on every square inch of his car. The price for the spot the RP sticker will go on is $100k down, $25k per month (if I have my figures right, that is).
If wallace were to say "I'm going to put the sticker on my car", since the car is basically considered an advertising venue - then it would be like saying "I am donating $100k to the RP campaign", which is quite a bit more than the $2300 limit set by campaign finance laws.
The only way they could legally do it would be for the Wallace team to set up a PAC of their own - and there's probably some bylaws of NASCAR that prohibit drivers from paying for sponsorship out of their own pockets anyway.
you got it all wrong
He'd be giving the money to the Liberty Racing PAC, not the campaign. Ive seen plenty of cars run sponsorless and if they wanted to put a decal on there, they could as long as it was approved by nascar (meaning it wasnt offensive)
Infact, this decal could technically be free... all they have to do is put it on. The price is set by the owners of the team.
Also, i dont think this car is going to be referred to as the Ron Paul Car, its going to be referred to as the Shark Energy car that happens to have a Ron Paul decal on the back.
Also, how many people collect Busch (Nationwide) series cars anyways?
Owners are not sponsors.
A car owner can put anything on it they like. Most will run a blank car if no sponserships, since decals cost money. The sponsors help the owners recoup money they have spent.
Until this is confirmed by...
...activ8 (the company that co-ordinates all of the sponsers for Fitz Motorsports), all my money goes direct to RP. I work at a track for NASCAR races, I know what this can do for the cause. Just give me the proof.
Maybe coming from someone
Maybe coming from someone who had serious doubts about the RonPaulRacing site, this might change your mind.
All the information we had available pointed to RPR being a potential scam - and even the 'potential' of a scam, at the level of information we had at our disposal, is cause enough to err on the side of caution.
The RPR site has set up a political action committee (PAC), which I have already verified at the FEC site. They have set up the Liberty Racing PAC.
The RPR organization seems to have had some serious problems with management when they first arrived on the scene about a month ago. Whoever it was that was running things had little knowledge about how these promotions work, or how politically based fundraising operations need to be set up.
Some (in my opinion) unwise choices were made at the start of the promotion that started the RPR promotion on a long and rocky road of speculation and problems that is hard to steer off of once you get on it.
They have since replaced their management team with people who have more knowledge about these promotions, and though we were not getting the answers we asked for here (basically it all came down to providing a PAC number), my own belief is that they are legitimate.
I have, as I said all along that I would, donated to the RPR promotion already. Since you work at a track for NASCAR, you know the potential of any sort of sponsorship on a car.
As far as confirming the sponsorship with activ8.. I dont know whether they are actually capable of saying "Yes, we are working with RPR" or not, since the sponsorship isn't official until the funds are generated to pay for it.
It's kind of a circular fallacy.. you cant get funds until the deal is verified, and you cant verify the deal until you get funds.
If a PAC number would be enough to validate the validity of RPR, for anyone's concerns, you can go to the FEC website at http://www.fec.gov/financ...
When you get there, type 'Liberty Racing' in the committee name field, press 'Get Listing' and you'll see the record.
For even more information, you can click the number toward the top left of the screen under 'Com ID' to see details.
You can even click on the PDF link on that page to see a copy of the original FEC Form 1, Statement of Organization which was filed on February 11.
Why it was not filed sooner than the date RPR announced the 'live funding button' was put on their site I am not sure, but at this point it doesn't matter anyway. An FEC PAC number is what many of us were asking for - and we now have it.
Mike Simon, the treasurer of Liberty Racing PAC, provided the information about it last night. Until this morning I had assumed it was another non-RPR related poster who had found the information, but I now see that it was actually an RPR representative after all.
Perhaps this is enough to overcome the doubt you have, perhaps it is not, but after the wringer RPR was put through (justifiable, even if incorrect) I personally have waived the doubts and support their efforts.

Nope, doesn't help a bit
I would like a release from the company that takes care of all the deals. It is a very simple request to make on the part of RPR. The marketing company should not have a problem with this, as it would raise the needed funds. You can run around the net all you want, this is a simple way to put this to rest.
I can't support this.
I'm certainly not trying to derail anyone's enthusiasm in regard to promoting Ron Paul, but if there is anything we all shoudl have learned by now is that novelty causes like these (money bombs, blimp, etc.) have not helped Ron win a single primary.
Heres an idea that has been suggested a number of times over the last few days and would do much more to help Ron's (and our) cause.
Take the money you would have spent on this decal, buy as many copies of Freedom to Fascism as you can get with it. Spend $30 at Staples to get a stamp with a dedicated e-mail address (just create one on Yahoo, Google, wherever) and a note "For more information on how you can help change America for the better, please send an e-mail to...". Organize the members of your Meetup group to go out and distribute these to your neighbors. Focus at the precinct level (become a precinct leader!!!) and track replies, build local groups with those who have responded, and don't stop until you have at least made contact with every single person in your precinct. You won't get them all, but you should be able to get a lot of them. Ask them to pass the DVDs on to their friends, etc.
Again, I'm not trying to burst your bubble here, but having Ron Paul's name on a race car isn't explaining to people the danger America is in. We need people to understand, not just to vote.
Agreed
I really can't agree with you more. I mean... The racing decal is good and all and gives us good branding, but branding only gets us so far. Coca Cola, Pepsi, etc etc... Can use branding as a marketing technique because the masses already know what pepsi and coca cola are. Im afraid most dont know who Ron Paul are. Will they inquire to find out? Probably. Will that change their vote? I dont know? If we do get this car, we need people outside of the race tracks handing out all the information we can, to pound Ron Paul in their heads so they don't forget about him.
Will this raise awareness for Ron Paul? Most definately, and I'm not knocking the idea, I just think there are better ways to get to masses while communicating the issues as well.
But what do I know? For good measure I'll chip in $10.
There are defiantely pros and cons, even to the post Im repsonding too... We can send people Freedom to Facism, but as you may know, many people (including my family) are close minded when it comes to videos like that. Example, if my grandmother received a copy of freedom to facism, she probably wouldnt even watch it, she'd just toss it. How do I know this? I bought her a copy of Fahrenheit 911 and it went in the dumpster.
Like I said, pros and cons, but we all need to stay on the same page and realize that getting the message out however we can is the main objective and anything that does that... we should go for it full throttle.
Do this
Guys there is so much energy around NASCAR, this is the thing to do. None of the other candidates have it. We should do it for sure.
This will be huge in the South
As I keep saying.
It's Kenny Wallace's car they're going to put these on - he was a big rival of Dale Earnhardt's back in the day so he retains a good deal of respect. He's a good driver, so we can expect some wins and poles from this guy. This is a great idea - please support.

Live Free or Die - Amen to that
No, you're thinking of Rusty.
The 2 car banged doors with the 3. Lack of subject knowledge does not help this funding.
