What will you tell your children?
Please BUMP and spread to other sites.
Our enthusiasm is waning. People are beginning to follow the siren's song of 'support a winner' and drift away. We cannot allow this to happen! All the other candidates are bought and paid for, with them nothing will change. I look at the parents and ask: "What will your children say when they discover that you had a chance and did nothing?" I'm disappointed as I'm sure many of us are. However, we need to get over it and get back to educating those within our sphere of influence. Need a little encouragement? Picture your children in breadlines or worse. GET BUSY! What have we become when after the first few battles we just surrender? Now WE have lost our way! I don't know about you, but I'm in this for the long haul. Who's with me?

Hey Jimbo
This movement is much bigger than Ron Paul. He's simply our General Washington.
"Walls are stronger than the men that defend them."

You get to be 100% genuine
hero.
don't worry
this will snow ball bigger and bigger. I think the younger generation will never let this die. We will have more support in the house in the years to come due to the movement today. I think this is a long term movement. And miracles can happen in the short term.
I don't have children
and may never have any. I do hope that my brother will tell my nephew that I did what needed to be done in order to ensure their freedom.
long haul for me! My
long haul for me! My daughter is watching and no longer rolling her eyes when topics come up. Then, my little grandson is watching her as she begins to grow too :-)
I will proudly tell my grandchildren that in
my 11th year as a liberty activist I gave everything I had toward advancing the presidential campaign of very special candidate, a brave man ahead of his time, that helped change the direction of the country.
This isn't the end of anything for me, I'll still be toiling for liberty 10 hrs per week another 11 years from now I'm sure, then 11 years from then. As such, I've never needed encouraging or guilt provoking posts here at DP to prod me to get busy. Small government was only popular with about a half million Americans when I became active. Thanks to Ron Paul, the number is now in the millions. Another 10 million believers say by 2020, and the country will finally make the sea change back to the constitutionally sized government we need to have the most peace and prosperity possible.

I Love this "Here I am"
Youy guys are great!!!!
The Population Bomb
This is what we marched for..... Americans were worried, so they lowered their birthrate but the neocons brought in illegals to keep it all going.... Now where are we?
Maybe we can call it a "field Trip"
Maybe the march could be a field trip that your children could reort on and gain credit.... I dunno, but there is a lot of things to learn in DC....
I hope someone will tell my grandchildren
I hope someone will tell my grandchildren
On February 17th, 2008 mack black says:
what my parents instilled in me. The notion to question things. My father always knew something was wrong with the system
Mack Black you have spoken...I have listened.Trust the truths of Mom and Dad.
"Liberty and Freedom for our Grandkids"
Thank You!
You guys had the right answers to keep me from kinda going whacko. I've watched my friends shun ANY political speech or talk because "it isn't polite" BULLPUCKEY! You guys (even some of the trolls, whom we are winning over BTW) just made my week! Thank You!!!!
I'd say that $500,000
is anything but waning support.
I'm in
Don't worry that there is a lull. Ron Paul is defending his seat in Texas and everyone is just taking a breather. Many of us had our primary and there doesn't seem to be anything to do right now.
That said, if anyone can think of a way to keep people involved and keep it growing I would love any suggestions, but the convention is so far off and it's hard to generate any ennthusiasm right now. I have been donating, but I've notice the numbers aren't as big this quarter. I think we need to address it.
Excellent post
You're right. It's a lull...it's NOT over.
Actually the Precinct program can get you involved
the have a call for paul program. It'd very cool, takes two min to do and is a huge help for states that have yet to vote.
Do I really have to say this...?
Do I really HAVE to tell you that it's NOT over? Do I really HAVE to explain that this forum is a call to arms? All but a few of you DIDN'T GET IT! Read my forum topic ALL THE WAY THROUGH, then comment. Don't bellyache about the campaign, DO SOMETHING!!!!
I hope someone will tell my grandchildren
what my parents instilled in me. The notion to question things. My father always knew something was wrong with the system, and it took him years to figure it out. He was a local politician (county commissioner), who fought for 24 years to keep federal money/federal control out of his county. He's always been anti-establishment, and through frustration, he could be a little reactionary. Goldwater in '64--- Wallace in '68 and '72, He was 70 years old before he got all the pieces put together to figure out how the CFR and the esablishment bankers have played us. I was nearly 50 before I was able to sift through the bullshit and get a solid handle on what's been going on. My children are in their 20s, and with the knowledge that my father and I have accumulated, and with the information that the internet can provide, they are close to 50 years ahead of my father in their enlightenment. I hope they will pass this understanding to their kids and that those kids will understand that past generations did the best they could do with the information that they had. And, that in '08 we had a slim chance at charting a different course for this nation and we did all we could do with the hand we were dealt. I hope this little revolution will continue and, if I live long enough, I will see my grandchildren be active participants. Because, as you know, freedom and liberty are eternal struggles.
Oh, and by the way. We're in it, three generations, to the bitter end.
Good Luck to all.
I will tell the children the truth...
I will tell the children the truth.
I will tell the children that despite the tremendous efforts, the money, the blood sweat and tears of hundreds of thousands of individual supporters in all 50 states around the nation, that a campaign staff... who utterly refused to hire professional people, or to even accept the assistance of professionals in their ranks of supporters, to create ads and pursue solid public relations work for media exposure...
And instead arrogantly presumed that THEY knew better than anyone else how to create ads, how to run a campaign, how to "win" votes, and how out of an ignorant pride and hubris, from the early days of the campaign increasingly to its end, created and festered a needless animosity and adversarial relationship with the press...
...and wasted the opportunity for placing the option of Peace, Prosperity and Freedom plainly before the nation, squandering away the $30 million of hard earned money donated by a large number of working men and women in the process.
That while there was still time to correct course -- instead of owning up to their own mistakes, their own inexperience, ineptness, incompetence, and indeed their own hatred of the media which caused the "blackout" -- instead of rectifying that, resigning or changing course to bring in and listen to experienced people -- the campaign staff management chose to feed supporters false hopes and vague conspiracies; and then hid behind a veil of "victim-hood" and blamed the media for the "blackout" -- continuing to draw their salaries, but refusing to schedule campaign events, or to even answer emails or return phone calls -- and finally placed the blame on the reluctance of the supporters to give them even more money, when those same supporters were not allowed to know where it would be spent, nor how past monies had been used, nor indeed even how much was left at any point in time.
And that even such a man as Ron Paul, of otherwise solid and upstanding character, still had human flaws and that among these was one which proved to be his downfall on repeated occasions: that -- over and above the trust he had asked of and therefore owed to his supporters -- he again foolishly placed and kept his loyalty to individual men he considered friends, allowing them to cover and hide their mistakes rather than hold them accountable, and thus refusing to re-examine or change the "prescription" of his campaign tactics or strategy, though he should have known it was killing the last chances of his patient: the remarkable uprising of the remnant that had coalesced around him.
That in the end, by choosing to abandon virtually all active advertising and campaigning when the greatest chance of gaining ground was before them, and instead turned his focus on retaining his current political office and position -- the candidate and campaign brought to nothing the hard work and steadfast efforts of hundreds of thousands of supporters in multiple states around the nation.
And then the blind and uneducated people of the "democracy" -- being unable to have confidence in an "invisible" candidate with an unclear message, and still wholly dependent upon the media the campaign spurned and angered -- did what they had always done in the past, and faced with no real choice at all... voted for what each of them felt and thought was the lesser of evils ...and were once again betrayed.
And I will tell them that from all of this they MUST learn a lesson -- that every man who stands for accountability must also BE ACCOUNTABLE -- and that they should be very wary of those who have a history of "covering" for anyone on anything... especially if it reveals that they will place personal loyalties above their duties and responsibilities in a position of trust.
THAT is what I will tell the children...
I will tell them the WHOLE truth.
Give me a F'ing Break!
What is this B.S.? You blame the Ron Paul campaign for everything. Sorry, but it doesn't matter if we all bent over for the F'ing media and took it up the A-hole everytime they wanted it- they were never going to be on our side. Ron Paul has fought the best battle against the pieces of sh*t running this country there has ever been. You spend 95% of your post blaming the Ron Paul campaign. WAKE UP! The God Damn little decisions and intricasies of the campaign don't mean crap. This is good vs. evil and the good is gaining ground because of Ron Paul. Blame the Establishment, the Moronic Sheeple and the corrupt media. If you don't see that it is a conspiracy against sane minded people by now, then you have a lot to learn.
Ask Not What Your Country Can Do For You, But What Your Country Is Doing To You.
The Only Thing We Have To Fear, Is Government Itself.
The campaign was given $30 Million -- what did they do with it
that was even REMOTELY effective?
Go ahead, buy into the whole "victim" mentality if you want to.
But I've looked at the financial data in detail and aggregate.
The sad but simple truth is that the campaign was very poorly managed, in fact it was mismanaged so abusively and ridiculously that it borders on (but does not quite reach) fraud.
The only reason the campaign even continued past NH was that an extra $8 Million was raised beyond what the $12 Million they had requested (and which they did not expect to reach) -- and they had no clue what to spend it on. Likewise, they have not spent the $6 Million raised this year because they again do not know what to spend it on.
Simple verifiable objective facts. But if you prefer the wonderland of blame, excuses, conspiracies... well be my guest.
OK, What is your solution?
Going forward... What is your POSITIVE suggestion on what WE can do going forward?
I'm sorry, but this surrender mentality is beyond belief.
Long Term "war" is to takeover a major party.
It is NOT a "surrender mentality" (jeesh, can we quit with the BushCo propaganda phrases already?) -- but there's no point in wasting your efforts and ammo shooting guns into the air. And there's no point following a losing strategy of a bunch of confirmed "idiot" 90-day wonders who couldn't find their way back home along the yellow brick road.
The Paul campaign is just a minor "skirmish" in a long term battle to retake our country (if we still can). Yeah, they wasted $30 M and we got nothing to show for it but a couple of bloody noses.
But many of us have woken up, found each other, built some resources and are digging ourselves into the party learning the rules so we can flip the tables on them.
This is a Long Term "war" to takeover a major political party machine -- no more trying to reinvent the wheel from scratch -- GOP is a party that has "stated" principles that match our own (however much they ignore them currently), and is also at a very weak point. It will be like a ship with only a skeleton crew after McCain is done decimating the ranks this summer and fall.
We just need to hide in the engine room and the various other nooks and crannies... and then, when we take over the ship next year... we patch it up, get the engines running and revved up, grab the wheel & turn the ship around. (And throw overboard the toadies than refuse to tow the line).
Call it a retreat or a fall back and regroup if you have to use military terminology -- but ditch the BS Bush propaganda please!
They DID hire "professional" political campaigners
Some of whom worked on very prestigious campaigns in the past. And THOSE PROFESSIONALS ARE THE ONES WHO SOLD US OUT. The grassroots kept asking for professionals, GOP insiders, etc. And Ron Paul responded and hired on those professionals and insiders. And those guys and gals destroyed the campaign from the inside. THAT is the truth.
Those were low-level drones.
I'm talking about hiring a Public Relations or Media Relations FIRM or MANAGER.
And hiring a solid Advertising Agency to create EFFECTIVE ads and to place them properly (you know, so you're NOT running "crappy" ads on cable TV channels 6 hours AFTER the polls close in a given state).
Neither of those necessarily needed to be standard "political" agencies that are hired by other campaigns. Indeed -- they could have easily identified and VETTED firms run by or staffed with solid supporters (say people who donated substantial cash a few months earlier, AND have solid references and resumes... you know the thing NORMAL business people do BEFORE they hire someone for big $$).
The RP campaign didn't hire ANY "professionals" for the management people -- the shipdits you had in Alaska were just a bunch of hacks (and I don't recall the grassroots EVER asking them to hire those kinds of "professionals").
Besides, the campaign wasn't even listening to the grassroots until late January, and then gave us lip service instead of any actual change.
Don't forget to
tell your children what part YOU can take responsibility for.

That they will continue the Revolution!
In the world's broad fields of battle. In the bivoac of life. Be not like dumb driven cattle...be a HERO in the strife.
Hm
It's kind of funny when you see how many young kids support Ron Paul, it's funny because they actually know what's better for the country and our futures than most adults, lol. I'm talking about McCain voters of course :P I'm only 22 and don't have kids, but when I do in the future, they'll be well informed of the good doctor's teachings.
Hineni --Here Am I
I'm in for the long haul -until my last breath on earth . If we can, we will be at a march on Washington. Reason magazine's site has an interesting video on their site concerning a revolution singing with hope. I thought it was very inspiring: www.singingrevolution.com. I thought a singing march would be great, any suggestions for songs?
I will tell my children that freedom is worth standing up for, we did what we could in the time we had, and their father and I will do the best we can to help restore their freedoms and protect them from harm. We will stand up to defend their rights as long as possible.
BTW- My daughter is in a you tube video called 'I Don't Want Hillary, I Want Ron Paul,' later she painted a shirt with flowers and asked me to paint her reasons for liking Ron Paul on the shirt : 1. stop the IRS 2. lower taxes 3. smaller government 4. more protection for the borders.
Libera me, let the truth break, what my fears make--Leslie Phillips
That the people were sheep...
And that the masses had been brainwashed to such an extent, that truth was laughed at...mocked.
In looking at the 3 candidate choices the media and the masses asked for, it was clear to me that the average person DID want Socialism.
I will tell my kids that the United States of America fell fast, and great was it's fall.
A Second (Bloody) American Revolution will be the ONLY way Socialism, NAU, or NWO will not come to this country.
I agree
Socialism is high on the list for most people. Dr.Ron Paul has brought the issues that ail our nation such as foreign policy, economics, and the monetary system into the discussions between my two sons and I. We have been and will continue to spread the freedom message.
Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
what will I tell my kids----------------
HYDROMAN
Bring Guns,money and lawyers!!!
**RonPaul Bombshell**
Here it is.... Ron Paul is the BEST Candidate!
Now, will you answer the question? What do you say to the next generation about what yoiu did/didn't do?
What will you tell the children that you know?
OK, so a lot of us don't HAVE children. However, most of us have children in our families or friends that we care about. What do we tell them? What? we don't have children, so we weren't responsible? What do we say to the next generation? WHAT CAN WE SAY, IF WE DON'T DO EVERYTHING WE CAN?
I'm really trying
To keep this topic front and center.....
Please comment. Answer the question. Keep it going.
Let me sum up what I'm hearing....
With regard to the coming fascism (or corporatism) and 4 or 5 years down the road what we tell our children. Well, I was busy. I had work and obligations and etc. I wanted Ron Paul to win, I really did. But there was nothing I could do. You see, I couldn't stop and talk to my neighbors because I was just too busy. Besides, the whole thing was rigged anyway. You understand right?
Tell me I'm wrong. Tell me you're not the "sheeple" you deplore.
Yes, get your children involved
They have a better chance at changing things if their eyes are wide open. Don't we tell our children not to talk to strangers? Why do that? It's silly because it doesn't matter, if things keep going the way they're going, they'll all be abducted anyway. Really, come up with a better argument, this ios pathetic. Again with the throw up my hands and surrender to the powers that be. Are you for REAL? I mean c'mon, thats the BEST you can come up with?
I ask again; What do you tell your kids?
My son is very involved and
My son is very involved and outspoken. He went to a rally with me and couldn't wait to give Ron Paul a big hug. He went with me door to door canvassing our neighborhood. I'd be telling folks about Ron Paul, and he'd chime in, "AND.. He delivered over 4,000 babies!". He asked to make a video because he was mad at the news for not mentioning Ron Paul and wanted to tell America the deal himself.
http://www.youtube.com/wa...
That was AWESOME!!
Thank you so much for sharing that. It was FABULOUS! I feel his pain and frustration! Loved his analogies.
You're welcome. I love the
You're welcome. I love the dirty diaper analogy. Another thing I just noticed while retrieving it was the names he used in the video; they're all still in the race. But the video was made when everyone was still in. Pretty cool, huh/
What?????????
Get your children involved?????? If we don't stop the madness now, our children will be slaves.
WAKE UP AMERICA
KT
Thank You Retrocon!
Nice answer!
Why not get our children involved? My mom got me involved at an early age. I have been aware ever since.
So, to the rest; What will you tell your children?
I know exactly what to tell my children
My preschooler already runs around saying "Ron Paul Revolution, give us back our Constitution!". He also asks me every day who is trying to rip Ron Paul off. He really listens in when I'm talking to people, I'm proud of him. He recognizes Ron Paul and his voice, it is really great. I've told him the basics about the Constitution, I'm not going to let it drop.
The Retrocon
Hope for America, Ron Paul for President in 2008!
Helpy
I'm supposed to look at the topics and then decide C'mon! Answer the question!
What will you tell your kids?
A Sign I Saw.....
I saw a sign last week while driving up to Sacramento. It was on I680 and said "Ron Paul 2008 A Vote for Freedom is NEVER a wasted vote". It actually made my day!
Back at you Helpy
Yes there is an organized disinformation campaign going on. But, you've missed the point. What are you going to do about it? If you're going to throw your hands up and surrender, then I'm REALLY interested what you tell your kids. Something like: "Honey, there was nothing we could do. The cards were stacked against us" Which, by the way, is a major COP OUT!
jimbo!
Just go and see the topics on the right column of the forum and you will get the answer!
who is responsable!
The revolution is Death! The Dr. has no desire to fight despite all the support he got! The Congressional seat is more important!
This is what you have to say to your children:
The entire election is a show with the following slogan "You vote, we elect"
Who are "We"? the Special interest groups who manipulates the entire election using the leadership of the two parties.
They use you to legitimate their action and control the process.
The best example is how the MSM treated Dr. Paul.
In conclusion keep telling your children that the election process is the best in the world and nothing else.
Any dream has an end, so wake up!
All the best!
Thanks for the comment Jane
It is nice to know someone is paying attention.
So again, parents, what will you tell your children? (provided you even have the opportunity)
Once upon a time America was
Once upon a time America was much different than it is today.... A long time ago everyone was free and people weren't afraid of their government...
I took part in a great movement to attempt to save freedom in America... indeed, it was a Revolution. There was a man, named Ron Paul, and he showed us the way. After him, things were never the same....
I don't know what I'll tell them actually... it kind of depends on the outcome.... but at least I'll be able to say I helped in the effort to regain freedom...
