The latest Conspiracy Theory.
You just had to open this topic, didn't you? Just because of those two little words. They are powerful words, indeed. The media has spun them over the years to use them as a quick and easy way to marginalize someone. But what is the real meaning behind those words?
conspiracy theory
n.
A theory seeking to explain a disputed case or matter as a plot by a secret group or alliance rather than an individual or isolated act.
(The Free Dictionary )
That doesn't sound too bad now, does it? A Theory seeking to explain something done by a secret group or alliance.
Now, we Ron Paul supporters have one thing in common that the majority of people do not... we've taken the blinders off, as it were, to what IS the norm and what SHOULD BE. Otherwise we wouldn't have gotten the message in the first place. Then why do we here at this forum throw the word around so much at each other? Technically, the Federal Reserve Act was a conspiracy.. history has shown that. There are doubtless plenty of other ~conspiracies~ that our government is busy with as I type this.
What then is so wrong with throwing our own theories out there? Keep in mind that on this forum there is a wealth of information being held in the minds of the posters here. Should we not then trade information on this medium to possibly connect some dots?
First and foremost, as the owner of this forum states, the reason that this forum exists is to get Ron Paul elected... failing that to keep our own ~Ron Paul Republican~ ideology going strong, by education and recruiting. So this is not a ~public~ forum, per se. It is private and has a specific mission statement. For that reason alone, we need to probably keep some of the ~mainstream~ conspiracy theories off of this forum.. it hurts the good Doctor's campaign. This I highly agree with.
However, we need to educate as well.. and that means speaking about world affairs, the economy, etc... things that are the REASON why most of us are here.. we know our current deal sucks and we want it fixed. And this is where I am finding that we have a problem.
If you are not aware that something is happening, that does not make it a conspiracy theory. It just means that you are not aware of it. By throwing the words ~conspiracy theory~ at everything that you are not aware of you are not helping the site, the people here, or Ron Paul. You are marginalizing the people posting that have a genuine wish to impart thier thoughts and have them critiqued by thier peers. By throwing those two words around, you are actually doing the media's job for them. An idea can be brought up, examined, researched and then either debunked or deemed worthy of more attention. I've had, for instance, a lot of posts on the Iran Bourse... I personally think that it REALLY bears watching, as it could be a key tipping point for our economy. In going through the seperate threads this morning, it was called a conspiracy theory no less than 19 times. Conspiracy theory?
Then Bloomberg is in on this conspiracy as well.. they seem to think that it is international news that effects the US economy.
The upshot of this post is that if you are not aware of something in a thread, it is not a carte blanche to start throwing the CT words around. If you find it interesting, stop and research it, discuss it with the other people here. If you don't find it interesting, close the thread and keep going. If you find that it is, in your opinion, a waste of database space for this forum, say that, flag it, keep going.
But stop throwing Conspiracy Theory around as an attempt to marginalize an idea. Some of us have different ideas and we are busy connecting dots.

Conspiracy theory
chinkadaro
Good comment. Exchange of ideas and thoughts is always good. I think everyone here is capable of doing their own research and I for one like when people give me an idea or thought to research. So if some people find the term conspiracy theory objectionable, what term do you find more appropriate to use to question what is going on? I think most people who support Ron Paul know that something sinister is going on, or the nation and world wouldn't be in the mess it's in. Is everything related and intertwined? No one knows for sure.
Hey, hey! Whats going on?
Twenty - five years and my life is still
Trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination
And I realized quickly when I knew I should
That the world was made up of this brotherhood of man
For whatever that means
And so I cry sometimes
When I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out
What's in my head
And I am feeling a little peculiar
And so I wake in the morning
And I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream at the top of my lungs
What's going on?
And I say, hey hey hey hey
I said hey, what's going on?
Ooh, ooh ooh
And I try, oh my god do I try
I try all the time, in this institution
And I pray, oh my god do I pray
I pray every single day
For a revolution
And so I cry sometimes
When I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out
What's in my head
And I am feeling a little peculiar
And so I wake in the morning
And I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream at the top of my lungs
What's going on?
And I say, hey hey hey hey
I said hey, what's going on?
Twenty - five years and my life is still

My favorite CT...ever!!!
My favorite CT is that: Hurricane Katrina was actually perpetrated by the Japanese Mafia using a weather controlling device that they bought from the Russians and used against us in retaliation for the nukes we dropped on them.

The phrase conspiracy theory is actually uniquely american
It barely exists anywhere else.
No 9/11 people actually post here because they already did and they would be preaching to the choir.
The only 9/11 posts come from disinfo bots.
It's not an issue.
9/11 should not be an issue on DP
because RP asked us not to associate him with it, I agree on that.
What I don't like is someone throwing CT at every post that comes up that didn't get covered by Faux. There is crap going on that isn't in the MSM.. we need to discuss it, debunk it or figure if it's worth reasearching. That was the only reason I posted this. There are people on this site that are RABID about anything that they are not personally aware of being a conspiracy. That's sillier than some of the real pieces of fiction that some tote as fact.

I have daily conversations sailing very close to the wind. Yet on occasion now, someone will chime in just a moment too early and try dropping the "CT" debate-killer play. When I pull out a story from their OWN media, and ask them where they get off using "CT" in the pejorative, it slows them down a moment and we can tighten back up to the wind.
Six months ago, one in a hundred knew about Real I.D.. Now, it's more like one in ten, if not one in five. THAT, is how the liberty of FREE SPEECH kicks the ass out of tyrannical pinheads.
The FRN/Amero vs. Liberty Dollar worked the same way. The NAU can be broached by asking when they first considered the REALITY of the EU and its Euro. Cointelpro study for new activists. Mockingbird for writers and journalists. 1913, fractional reserve banking and fiat currency, for people interested in money. Big Pharma and GM foods for the naturalists. CO2 credit folly, and the solar driven hydraulic cycle, for environmentalist.
Not that long ago... ALL of those were derided as "nothing but wacky conspiracy theories." Not anymore.
Everyone has a soft spot for honesty and truthful real reality truthy-for-it-ness. With honest effort, patience, a lot of understanding and empathy... at some point, the philosophy of liberty combined with a republic of laws... rings like a bell inside their own head.
I support Ron Paul's run for president... because I trust he will support my right to seek redress (if only for our good standing in the eyes of the world stage)... and have places like Iron Mountain cracked open for any remaining evidence from 9/11... and put it to bed with disinfecting sunlight.
Please revel in the hottest debates, rather than dumping water on them... the warmth of it is useful. The internet IS NOT at risk of running out of room for these very important conversations.
Nazi Death Camps were once Conspiracy Theories...
People who always spoke about them were considered conspiracy nuts until they found the death camps.
A lot of conspiracy theories have proven true. Although most are composed of separate truths that are not connected.
nazi death camps
Apparently, even with agents reporting back on them, British intelligence still didn't believe the story for some time. It was unbelievable in a modern world at that time not too long ago.

Nice post Devon.
A lot of the detractors of what is being said in posts regarding what the government and/or others are doing behind our backs are the ones pasting the "conspiracy theory" label on the posts and not the authors of the original posts. In my one big post on the CFR, that is not exactly the case. I used the word "conspiracy" in the title but NOT the word "theory" because by definition it is a conspiracy, but it is also FACT. Here is a link to that post:
http://www.dailypaul.com/...
The shenanigans of the CFR are so well documented that any detractor who denies the CFR's leanings toward globalism and subversion of sovereignty and their plans regarding them, are strongly implying a hidden agenda on the part of the detractor. If not, then it strongly implies that the detractor is ignorant, take your pick. I'm one for telling the truth. If the one-world CFR types have, in the slightest way, tried to keep their agenda from the FULL, PLAIN view of the American people, then by definition, it is a conspiracy. The ultimate end of their means is detrimental to freedom and therefore it satisfies both prerequisites in the definition (secrecy and bad intent).
Yes, the information is out there, but one has to be dedicated to seeking it and the truth in order to find it. THAT is why I made my post, because it is up to the dedicated ones to inform the others, who are dedicated as well, just less informed on this particular topic. This is not an insult to those that aren't fully informed, for how can one know there is "another truth" out there if one has never had the occasion to stumble across it? What happened in my case was a definite stumble. Thus my statement earlier about full and plain view.
I mean, it's not like we see or hear this every day:
"Hi, Brian Williams here and this is the NBC evening news. We have with us this evening, Robert Pastor from The Council on Foreign Relations, and he's here to tell you of his organizations plans for a North American Union. He will also let you know how his organizations deep involvement in our government, big business, academia, media, and the financial system makes their ideals all possible."
So, I do not disparage the uninformed. It's the detractors I have a problem with. Most, if not all of the detractors have seen enough evidence by now to know that what is being said in regard to the CFR is true. Given that, the detractors must have another agenda and I generally won't waste my time trying to figure out what that agenda is, nor expose it unless it's readily apparent and it helps further the message I'm trying to get across. That message is the pro freedom message. If our freedoms are being lost, that must mean that there are people trying to take them away and the ones attempting to do so ARE the enemy. How can one fight an "unseen" enemy? Obviously you can't, and that my fellow patriots and friends is the reason for MY posts. I can't speak for the others.
Sincerely,
Paul C. Hanson

"The members of this rapidly growing group, called InfraGard, receive secret warnings of terrorist threats before the public does -- and, at least on one occasion, before elected officials. In return, they provide information to the government, which alarms the ACLU. But there may be more to it than that. One business executive, who showed me his InfraGard card, told me they have permission to “shoot to kill” in the event of martial law."

Note that the website, http://www.wanttoknow.inf..., uses "credible" MSM news stories, so if people are total believers in the MSM, how can they refute these stories the MSM itself has publicized?
And when the above links are in a *single* e-mail, when I have thousands of sources over many years, where there's massive, thick "smoke", it's hard to think there's no "fire" at all, even if it's in a slightly different direction.

I have a few reasonable questions, and I get the "CT" tossed at me for asking them. As for me, I am willing ot fight to the death to defend any crazy conspiracy theorists right to think any old crazy conspiratorial thought the want. Is the Daily Paul
'first and foremost to get RP elected'?
B/C if you look at the top of this very page,it says 'dedicated to the restoration of constitutional government for the USA'.
In light of that, your 'theory' that we have ample room to discuss, share and inform, educate, etc. is indeed a valid one. And not a conspiracy, but simple a theory on it 's own.(:
RON PAUL himself has said consistently that his campaign is only one facet of restoring liberty to this country. Absolutely, sharing information is essential.
RP believes that using the GOP as a vehicle to restore freedom is the way to go. He also believes that the GOP has lost it's way in part due to the globalist ideology/agenda of some. In this regard,he believes that both 1)the NWO/globalism and it's infiltrates/helpers [NAU/CFR/etc] and 2)restoration of our country's freedom, the constitution and our economy, are tied together. They are not mutually exclusive.
Stay on track with freedom,is my opinion.
Not libertarianism,not 911 truth,nor free markets...
But FREEDOM,at the root of each issue/question.
How does this relate to freedom? Is the question I ask.
I LOVE CT!
CT is my absolute favorite entertainment. Whether it s about a NAU or Nibiru, or Ron paul running to save the GOP because he thinks saving the GOP is going to save America, or that Ron Paul really didn't want to be president and why he hired a staff that worked against him sabotaging Meetups, or JKK, Illuminati, UNNWOMSM911...etc.
CT exists when the dots don't connect to "the rest of the story". TRUTH is missing. CT will NEVER be resolved, not online, not with a rEVOLution, not with Ron Paul and most definately not in Daily Paul.
Daily Paul has been a bucket of Pots and Kettles all armed with their own conspiracy theory telling the other theirs is TRUTH, or better for one reason after the next and why the other's is invalid. It is a shame it's been divided rather than everyone accepting everyone has entertaining one CT or another (as if anyone was actually better).
The latest CT is the world as we know it is going to end in 2012 (not that this hasn't been entertaining for some time, I heard about it back in 1992, Jose Argullia, "Surfing the Zavuya", but it seems to becoming out on line from all kinds of places, even FEMA concentration camps.
Bottom line, truth is stanger than fiction, some truth isn't the truth because the truth is there are many truths.
Yes,and Arguelles
is peddling the 'false Mayan timeline' and is rumored to be in cahoots with certain camps, that wish to unfold the timeline according to their own predictions.
But 2012 is not really new, though you are correct it has 'hit mainstream'.
If you read the history of the UN and the New Age Movement, you will find them interconnected, and on purpose.
Alice Bailey and her connection to the UN is also predictably interesting, and straight out of CT boot camp.
Yet,it's not theory,it is what happened.
The true Mayan calendars-anyone's guess-preferably a Mayan,in my opinion.
However, the best 'theory' I've heard on it,is that what it meant to 'the Maya',is the end of their DNA on planet earth.
btw: Maya of course is known to mean 'illusion' in sanskrit.
ps-the truth is there are many truths-well,that is exactly the plan!!! 'moral relativism'....so that it's all 'opinion' and 'sharing your truth' 'no right or wrong'....so diluted that we will accept as normal violations to our persons.
While I cannot 'prove' this in a brief posting, you can find it to be 'true' by checking out many other sources, including UN/Alice Bailey,as well as www.deliberatedumbingdown...
Anyway,I think the thing to also remember is that none of these can be explained away or proven in 30 second sound bytes,or brief postings on DP.
Alice Bailey
AB is a great example of entertainment. Where else does one get to watch a waif bringing the childhood of Hitler to life (as if this is what the world really needs?). I would like it if she would channel the man for whom "Marphy's Law" is named and see if he's really the after christ.
Devon! Thank You!
This is an excellent post and I thank you for it! :-)
Some ...hmmm?? ...(we know who )...on this site are a perfect example of the CT that the "Dumbing down of America" is an agenda that has had quite an effect to quell those that are open minded, do the homework and give careful and thoughtful consideration before posting the "blind sheep mantra". Let those types only serve to remind us of what we are up against!

Great Post Devon
I too am tired of the 'ct' police.
Once again, it just proves how much political correctness is out there...to marginalize anyone that would DARE to question a situation.
To me, this is ROOTED in PRIDE.
People that are not of the 'herd mentality' are those that desire to do their own research and not just believe something b/c the masses do.
Scoffers on the other hand are usually intellectually lazy and lack discernment....and this is why they will fall for anything.
Exactly/Thank you.

And thank those that present things I havent thought of or been exposed to as of yet! I then follow up with research and careful consideration to form my opinions! The ones that recite the "sheep mantra" only make me more curious and determined to educate myself on what they are so willing to "label" as CT!
Special thanks to Jane Aitken and Suzan!
And of course Devon!
if our government didn't keep secrets
then we wouldn't have governmental conspiracy theories. Get it all out in the open, CTs disappear.
Indeed. "Conspiracy theorist"
Indeed. "Conspiracy theorist" has received its negative connotation as a pejorative label largely from the Corporate Military-Industrial Government-Media Complex as a means to limit "acceptable" opinion and to end debate on a given subject, such as the proposed North American Union.
This method of limiting "acceptable" opinion is a self-reinforcing model. People who subscribe to these limits on rational debate serve to reinforce the model, collectively and individually. Many people think that because their arguments fall within the "mainstream" limits of debate, that for that reason their arguments are rational and sound. That, frankly, is fatuous in my opinion and part of the reason that, as Ron Paul has articulated, our Constitutional Republic is in remnant status today.
Too many people do not question their government or hold their elected representatives accountable. Ever hear this old cliche: "You can't fight city hall."
Too, this model serves to generally discourage rational debate in the sense that people who would otherwise vigorously debate a given subject, such as the NAU, are dissuaded by their sense that they do not want to face the rejection of the "mainstream" and the stigma of any of a buffet of pejorative labels (kooky, lunatic fringe, conspiracy theorist, "not serious," etc.).
Nonetheless, rational people agree: there is a singular Truth to discernible reality.
"This is no time for ceremony. The question before the House is one of awful moment to this country. For my own part I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or slavery; and in proportion to the magnitude of the subject ought to be the freedom of the debate. It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our country. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my country, and of an act of disloyalty towards the majesty of heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings.
Mr. President, it is natural to man to indulge in the illusions of hope. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth, and listen to the song of that siren, till she transforms us into beasts. Is this the part of wise men, engaged in a great and arduous struggle for liberty? Are we disposed to be of the number of those who, having eyes, see not, and having ears, hear not, the things which so nearly concern their temporal salvation?
For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth -- to know the worst and to provide for it." -Patrick Henry
Great post JKap
Couldn't have said it better.
One more thing....there is only ONE truth. There is right and wrong. These are the basic principles "they" want you to forget. It is the war on your consciousness. Change yourself and you change the world.
March on soldiers!
Peace and light
Well said!
So sick of the 'CT' police.
Some troublemaker just posted a thread with generalized attacks, including...you guessed it- 'conspiracy theories'. (Probably the one that made you bump this.) Sure looked to me like the poster just wanted to start a fight and pit people against each other.
I do think bogus info should be called for what it is, but that is not what is going on here. People are harassing with the 'conspiracy theorist' label just to do it and antagonize.
I hope people will not be dissuaded from informative discussions because of these harassers.
Thanks Devon for the post.

Wrong Telling Noelle To "Shove It" Would Be Totally ........
inappropriate. It has been revealed to me by higher ups from the 9th command of Zarkon that Noelle was abducted by a by a renegade group of "Greys" that abducted her and she was "probed quite severely". She needs compassion as this severely traumatized her.She is having great trouble relating to others at this point because of this violation.
I think Noelle was the underpinning for this post
Looking back at Noelle's posts, what he/she/whatever considers conspiracy theories are not limited to but do include:
Education, Economics, Anything to do with the government not being a perfect thing, food, water, beans(?), the internet, Iran, Iraq, the US, South America, air, the Bourse, Democracy, big government, limited government, no government, and conversation.
The first thing people like he/she/other posts as a reply is ZOMG, you whacky Kooks here at DP are all conspiracy theorists! Because (fill in whatever topic here) is actually a good thing, pretty and shiny and stuff!
So I just wanted to point out that people like that should be the ones considered unbalanced in the first place.
I know I guess I just didn't want to beat around the bush ;D

It think it would be in the national best interest
to re-investigate anything that is of monumental importance. I say "If there is nothing to hide, there is nothing to fear". People who are opposed to re-opening cases often act like they have something to hide.
Consider the Budget for:
Bill Clinton/Lewisky investigation - $60 million
Laura Bush Library Fund - $24 million
Original 911 investigation - $3 million

Great post! I just got through watching all four parts of "The Century of the Self" and someone like Edward Bernays (Sigmund Freud’s nephew) would have had no trouble crafting the "conspiracy theory" smear/stereotype/label in the public mind through the media. Your Stated Goal
If, as you say, the goal of this forum is to get Ron Paul elected, then it is our responsibility to NOT talk about things that most people are unwilling to accept.
Well
That's why I posted this topic... there are some things that we obviously need to discuss, such as world events and the economy... if you look at the other threads, there are a batch of people here that may need to learn a little more. Others here are interested in the topics because you can't get any more in-your-face then our current economy.. as RP points out, this is the first time in a long time that it is one of the focuses in this election. As such, RP supporters need to know what's going on if they want to have any kind of realistic conversation with other candidate's supporters.
So we as RP supporters at least need to be up to speed on the economy. I've converted people on that alone. If they are unwilling to accept our economy, that is thier issue.
I'm just tired of the CT tag being thrown on EVERYTHING that is not ~conventional media~
As stated in my post, I've had the Bourse called a conspiracy theory for weeks.. it opened today. The label needs to stop being thrown around so much by people that profess to support RP.
Bump!
you said what needed to be said!

So you're on target there, RPIT... the other agenda here at DP... GROUPS attempting to get others to join thier mindset, usually ones that are anti-RP. At least they are easy to spot as well.
