UPDATE: What if we organize a debate?
Do you think we could pull off our own Republican Debate? Could we work with PBS or a non-cable company? What about a radio aired debate? Could this be done?
Just thinkin'
We could sell ads to pay for the air time to companies that stand behind Ron Paul:
Carol Adler, President/CEO, Dandelion Books
Charlie Beall, CEO of eKnowledge Corporation
Roy Miller, Co-Founder, Goldwater Institute
Dennis Steele, CEO, Online Chess LLC
R. Michael Van de Water, Owner, Batcave Games
David C Wetzel, President/CEO, Green Pasture Products
There's many more.
UPDATE: Committee to form: Anyone interested email me lynn@industrymag.net We will conference call on Saturday, March 1. This gives us a week to organize a team.

Great idea here
You invite the nominees for the D, L, G, C, and R parties, webcast it, youtube it. Set up a true format where everyone gets equal time.
It's long overdue.
Maybe we should set up a
Maybe we should set up a debate with Ralph Nader
Wow, I really really
like this idea. Maybe Charles Goyette would be willing to ask the questions.
I was just listening to the 911 interview he did and it was very interesting.

What about holding it at the march?
I'd actually like to
see Ron debate Kucinich.
I think it would be facinating to see two intelligent, friendly men discuss politics from the left side vs. the right side
former names of candidates that have dropped out need to be...
Former presidential candidates that have dropped out need to be mentioned in order to get those who followed them to listen. This will broaden the listening audience. If questions that were asked to all other candidates except Ron Paul and a few others are asked then they either can be quoted or a clip can be ran of the answer they gave.
I agree that Huckabee might be interested if not only for the exposure.
I think it is a good idea
Would be especially interesting if you could bring in some real thinkers like Kucinich and Nader.
Then
It is not a presidential debate. It is just a debate. This doesn't really support the original idea.
In preparation for the
In preparation for the Convention, We could host the debate here in St Paul.
Great Idea !
I have been receiving positive responses for this type of event for weeks. I've been responding to emails, blogs and vids. With the remaining candidates being promoted much are are prime for the message of freedom and how it can be saved in this country.
Lets get more feed back. I can try to get through to HQ and feel them out as well, however I believe we need to make sure that the interest of all who are interested is objective and not a temporary fix.
Personally
I don't think it is a HQ thing. I don't even think it is a Ron Paul thing. I think it is a PEOPLEs thing. I think the more general we can keep it, the more successful it will be. Don't make it a Ron Paul sponsored debate.
The People's Debate
Leave Ron Paul out of the title. This group is not a Ron Paul group. We are the PEOPLE.
Then have the debate with ALL the candidates, not just the Republicans. Any viable candidate with say $1million gross raised.
Give them all the same amount of time.
How about a Fusion Debate(s) where
all the 3rd parties nominate one candidate to represent them. A voter poll(s) will decide the winner to be cast under their party's ballot. Winner take all. This can be sponsored by C-Span and hosted by the League of Women Voters.
God will work with you but not for you - Walter Russell
I think we are on to somthing !
Why not have a debate on live television, maybe pbs, etc. or the internet, sponsored by google. of the questions that have already been asked. Have a well known nonbiased celebrity or panel of them. Jay Leno, Caferty,Tucker, etc. Forgive my forgetfulness, Who was the wealthy gentleman that interviewed Ron Paul and was totally taken by him. However the panel or host can ask Ron Paul live, the questions of all previous debates asked to all the other candidates but not to Ron Paul. Questions on all the issues. Play back all the other candidates responses then have Ron Paul respond to the question and or the answers the other candidates gave.
We would want to have a mass coverage of advertising for this event. Internet advertising, communicate with all local meetup groups so they can advertise locally and at the state level. A nationally known host or hosts is very important. This event needs to be professionally produced and directed.
I believe the people would jump on board with this idea. Lets critique this and get goin with it. We need to have it before the march on washington.
The title of the debate can be "We the people" or "Ron Paul still standing", something along that line. I think all of you get the idea.
LETS DO THIS!
You have some great ideas.
You have some great ideas. E-mail me (see post)
Mike Gravel wanted to debate Ron Paul
Fortune Favors the Bold
After the Texas Primary, they should debate. Alan Keyes is sort of wacky. Also, you would get two guys who both respect freedom, but have different view points about it.
McCain would NEVER show.
He has nothing to gain and everything to lose from more debates. The more he talks the more fiscal conservatives realize he's a moron when it comes to economy, the more religious conservatives realize he's full of bs, and the more independents will compare his voting record to his stances, leading them to the inevitable conclusion "he ain't no maverick."
Huck might jump at the chance for some more air time... but McCain? NEVER. No McCain? No Press. No Press? No Joe Average.
So what? We could do this.
So what? We could do this. I'm in SC but willing to give it all I got. Anyone else, I can't do it alone.
"We The People Debate"I like it.This will take a total effort...
I am from Indiana. We havnt had our primary as of yet. I believe the final caucus/primary for all states end in June. It would be nice to have this in a state that has yet to have a primary. However, not absolutely neccesary. A organizing committee should be formed. More then one or two individuals. There will need to be a site and account set up for all to see and stay informed. I'm sure there will need to be information gathered on legalaties,etc.. There are many items that will need to be arranged. This will be a total group effort at every level.
As far as a third party candidate. Ron Paul has already mentioned the biased intentions towards a third party candidate. Most of the previous candidates wouldnt show. I agree that the chances of McCain being in any other debate is highly unlikely.
To keep it on the level all can still be invited that have met the criteria to be on the ballot in each state as a candidate for president.
We definitely want to contact Ron Paul HQ to be sure that he would be interested in such a debate. He and or his staff might have suggestions or possible contacts for a event of this magnitude.
So,should we put feelers out to the meetup heads and find out what the support would be. I for one believe the timing is right.
I'm in Houston
And I concur. You lead it, I'm your slave.
Problem is
you would need to at best bribe the other candidates to appear. They simply won't. If RP were a third party candidate, there would be a fighting chance, but standing rules are that if a third party candidate is invited to a debate, the D and R candidates disinvite themselves.
A better way to spend money is to pay someone to run a national phone poll asking people who they would vote for in the group, {Obama, McCain, Paul}, or {Hillary, McCain, Paul}. If the numbers are big, run it in some small media if you have to, but shoot for big media, too, and post to a news aggregator like digg or, better, Drudge Report.
If the numbers suck, then we hit the campaigning harder and try again in a month. We'll get tons of demographic data, too, be able to send word back to meetup groups on changing strategies -- do we target message with economy, or iraq war? etc, etc.
But the prerequisite to this, too, is that Paul runs 3rd party, or else you cannot justify those matchups.
The crazy thing is, that from my local meetup I knew a guy who ran polls, and I pitched the idea to him, but it was quashed by the meetup organizer, who wanted to use the guy to run phone ads instead. What an effing waste.
Later
This might be an idea for later when things settle down.
But this idea in no way affects the idea of a debate. The sooner we could do a real debate, the better.
If someone doesn't come, then that is their loss.
Huckabee has been hurting
Huckabee has been hurting for media attention as well, he may jump on the chance. Possibly with him being broke as well, he would be more willing to get the free publicity.
I think we have to line it up in a state were there will be a primary soon after, a state where they are campaigning already (Texas?) that way it would be more likely for them to attend.
If it is "hosted" as well be a major organization,it would help bring name recognition.
There are plenty of them they may be willing to work with a few in grassroots to make this happen:

Why is the media using Ron Paul to their benefit. They know his supporters go wild on positive articles or honest coverage. Don't they realize thousands more people go to sites or watch their shows when this happens. Some small radio or tv station has to see an opportunity in this. Paul can debate Keyes for all i care.
Paul vs Keyes
That would be a sick debate.
how about
a mock debate at the march, with cardboard cutouts of the demagogue's with audio of there statements at the previous so called "debates" but this time our man gets to talk. This is the closest we can get to a debate.

That is a defeatest attitude if I have ever heard one.

Maybe, but I think our best bet to continue the revolution is to become a delegate. You can also volunteer at the convention.
Well I am looking for information from people who may
have insight. Not really talking about 400+ DP's to stop what they're doing to help. Just some ideas.
