The DC neocons think their old dream is about to come true. They think they can defeat me in the Republican congressional primary in Texas on March 4th. And you know what? They may be right.
My opponent, who describes himself as a traditional conservative, is a dedicated servitor of all the special interests who have given us the disaster of recent years, from unconstitutional wars to a looming recession, from huge deficits to massive new welfare programs.
A Republican operative allied with the worst forces in DC recently said: "Give what you can [to Ron Paul's opponent]. Ron Paul is running scared -- using his Presidential campaign's donors' money to subsidize a desperate last-minute attempt to save his Congressional seat."
That is a lie, of course. It is illegal to use presidential campaign donations in my congressional race. The congressional campaign has to stand on its own. But so far, we have raised only about a third of what a well-funded effort would need.
In my 10 terms in Congress, I have not only been able to serve my constituents, and help them, for example, negotiate federal red-tape. I have also been able to defend our principles of less spending, lower taxes, no inflation, and strict adherence to the Constitution. Some people in DC laugh at the idea that I should obey my oath of office, and ask first of any proposed legislation, is it constitutional? But I know that you share my support for the vision of the framers.
My friend Congressmen Wayne Gilchrest (R-Maryland) was just defeated in his primary election by a neocon fraud similar to the one I face. My friend Walter Jones (R-North Carolina) is under heavy pressure as well. People like our hand-picked opponents will do anything to gain and keep power. They represent everything that is wrong with DC.
If I am defeated in the upcoming congressional primary, our ideas will be held to have been defeated as well. It will be proclaimed from the rooftops in DC that such "ridiculous and outmoded notions" as the free market, sound money, personal liberty, limited government, and a pro-American foreign policy are through.
I am determined not to let this happen. All that you and I believe in is far too important to the future of our country, and to everyone and everything we love, to let the neocons dance on its grave.
Please, help me stop the lies, the distortions, the pressure groups, the special interests that benefit from DC rip-offs. There is still time to run radio and tv ads, to set up phone banks, to get out the vote. But unless you help, my reelection to Congress may be in jeopardy. Please help me return to Congress to fight for the people of my district, and for the ideas that can save our country from the path to trouble we are now on.
I hesitated to ask you, since you have already done so much. But my wife Carol said, "When you need help, you ask your best friends." So I do ask you, to hold out your hand in support.

I hope this isn't too off subject but I recall three young ladies awhile back stating that they were ashamed to be from the same State as George W. Bush for the obvious reasons. Now that Ron Paul has stepped up to offer his country a remedy for all the damage the Bush and Clinton families have inflicted will the Dixie Chicks use their high profile status and endorse our next President?

I'll be happy to fund Ron's next venture, but not as a Congressman. He should do some serious soul-searching and think about moving on to the next stage in his life.
He cannot affect any serious changes from within the system, and anyone who thinks he's doing better for the country by sitting in Congress is just nuts.
I'd contribute to his efforts to carry out his vision for our country as an influencer of politics, not as a politician.

I Will Send a Check. I got this letter via email the other day. I decided i must give some $ to Dr. Paul for this Congressional fight. I can't afford much; my CC company hates me right now, partly cuz i suppose i overextended myself with the Presidential campaign. But we must keep RP in the system, as a politician. So i do hope we all help him with this. I would make calls or whatever too if that was practical.

just did some phone canvassing
here in rp's own town. i must say that if my phone calls were any indication of the support in his own town, he would win with 75% of the voting public. i was very encouraged. it was a good thing to do. it was our meetup group - about 10 of us participated this evening. me and dodobogo went to the college where early voting is taking place. that was also very encouraging. i still have hope - much hope that he will do well in texas.

Ron Paul's alleged Presidential campaign difficulties
Given the unfortunate existence of an EXTREMELY hostile Party establishment, on both the Federal and State (Texas) levels, the nearly complete media embargo, and the existence of a hugh field of dull-witted, prowar, pro big government, and pro inflation neocon clones polluting the Republican field, it is downright AMAZING that we have got as far as we have.
Short of divine intervention comparable to the raising of Lazarus, or the parting of the Red Sea, it is impossible to imagine how we could have done any better than we have--and there is still at least ten months to go!!

It pretty much looks like divine intervention and a parting of the seas. Look how the candidates-who seemed so big and powerful, have just fallen away. What we have left absolutely should not beat him.
Gotta hair cut today and told them that Ron Paul would do away with tax on tips. The whole place was instantly excited and did not know. So easy.
After I finish calling my precinct, I am calling every hairdresser I can find.
Support the ideas, not just the man
Aw, c'mon. You do realize that the idea is more important than the man? Ron's inability to express our ideas in a direct and personable way also hurt this campaign tremendously. No doubt about that. However, what Ron introduced to the public at large was far, far more important.
Tears at the moment.
I left work early today to cast my vote for Dr Paul. It felt good even though I had questions in the pit of my stomach. I even watched the counter flip...from 915 to 916.
I got home, cell phone rings, it's my sister. I said, "Well I just voted for our little Ronnie" and she proceeded to tell me (perceiving that I did not know) that he is going to announce tomorrow...
I told her "what?" "I am in shock..." "I must hang up now...."
So I logged on here to ... I don't know exactly...maybe to make my last post...
I am feeling quite ashamed about being "American" - what does it even mean anymore if Dr Paul and his family are ridiculed instead of thanked for all their dedication to our country's freedoms and values? And he fights more insidious evil in his home district and state, this man who stood by them and fought for them...appallingly a disgusting neocon may take his place.
I am sick at heart, and in tears. All I can do is turn to my dear sister, my few loyal friends, and my Lord. I feel that I am aware of the dark times that loom just around the corner.
dailypaul has been a source of camaraderie and information and awareness and support. What will happen to this site? Thank you Michael for your tireless efforts and help for Dr Paul, and for giving us this forum.

I'm French Canadian and I live in USA since 2002, since I got married to such a wonderful American man.

It is illegal to you to give money to Ron Paul.
But it is not illegal for you to give money to Chip In's.
Ron Paul officially has a campaign. This is controlled under law.
The R3volution (truly like your own), is grass roots. Just people spending their time and money working to get Ron Paul as President and protect his seat in government.
I'm guessing that every dollar that goes to the official campaign one dollar goes to the grass root efforts.
For example, the Granny Warriors helped get the re-count in New Hampshire. This recount showed that the election system is flawed and possibly corrupt. The Official Campaign did not challenge the vote and did not pay for the re-count. We, - the grassroots did. You could have too!
Even buying Ron Paul's' book helps. Just look at the "chip in"'s on this page or google Ron Paul for all his supporters who need money but have time. Don't believe Americans are all rich. Like you they make just enough and the government (Banks) get the rest.

Pajamas Media has been unabashedly anti-Paul from the start. I had never heard of them before. They were among the ones that ran polls and either omitted Ron Paul altogether or censored the results. I would not pay a bit of attention to anything written there.

This "poll" is very untrustworthy. My district borders the 14th. I do not think that Peden even has 20% name recognition. Now, I wouldn't doubt him getting close to 40% in the primary (I hope not, but I don't doubt it). What I doubt is this supposed poll. The only people reporting this poll are clearly anti-Paul bloggers. Peden wouldn't even say by how much his poll showed him ahead of Paul. Peden simply claims that he is ahead. Paul could lose, but all signs point to bogus for this poll, and I'm someone who believed the MSM polls for the presidential election were pretty accurate (and I believe I was right about that as well). Remember, just a few months ago Paul had a 70% job approval rating in his district.

I don't think you're overly negative, but we already know the polls are being "rigged". We have to wait. I don't know how the caucuses work in Texas. They may be hand counted, while the population does their primary "thing" which won't count anyway.
There is no caucus for congressional races
Texas is a primary. Caucuses only apply to presidential races, and besides that Texas is a primary, anyway. However many people vote for whoever, those votes determine the winner...plain and simple.

Tax Returns
