Poll: Leaving Iraq Will Help Economy
From Military.com | WASHINGTON - The heck with Congress' big stimulus bill. The way to get the country out of recession - and most people think we're in one - is to get the country out of Iraq, according to an Associated Press-Ipsos poll.
Pulling out of the war ranked first among proposed remedies in the survey, followed by spending more on domestic programs, cutting taxes and, at the bottom end, giving rebates to poor people in hopes they'll spend the economy into recovery.
The $168 billion economic rescue package Congress rushed to approval this week includes rebates of $600 to $1,200 for most taxpayers, the hope being that they will spend the money and help revive ailing businesses. President Bush is expected to sign the measure next week. Poor wage-earners, as well as seniors and veterans who live almost entirely off Social Security and disability benefits, would get $300 checks.

out of Iraq
In my opinion US military should quit Iraq. US is using a very big amount of money for that. Remove these money investing for military and give it to poor people will be the best. I think Obama will do it.

here's a crazy idea
What if someone set up a bipartisan website asking this simple question of the American people...
Should we stay or leave Iraq?
Imagine what would happen if it somehow went viral and hundreds of thousands of people logged on and said leave. Would our voices be heard? It would definately send a message.
Here's a Bigger Crazier IDEA
Request every Family, wife, husband, etc., etc., to list their lost one's in Iraq & Afganistan.
The government says about 4,000 but I hear it's way more then that. Like 73,000!! All for the RICH & Special interest!!
Learn the TRUTH Behind stimulus bill
It's an ADVANCE on your 2009 TAXES!
It helps Wall Street, Bankers, and the RICH. It does not help The People!
They (Congress) should be ashamed of themselves to try to pull this on us!
Forgot to place websites plus about Obama

Spread the WORD folks...
People are finally realizing what was said the last time...
...this was tried: "A one-shot check stimulates the economy the way a gallon of gas stimulates a gas tank: good for a few mles, but then what?"
In 2000 I pointed this out in the local press in Colo Spgs. and I mentioned a continued stimulus, ongoing, is what was needed: cut payroll taxes/withholding and give people more of their hard-earned take-home pay.
I ran the numbers back then assuming 200M workers, an average salary of $40K, and a withholding rate of 20%. If I recall correctly, that ran into $80B every two weeks--now *that's* a stimulus!
Proving once again, Dr. Paul is right on--as usual!
I KNOW WHERE MY REBATE CHECK IS GOING!!!
"Poor wage-earners, as well as seniors and veterans who live almost entirely off Social Security and disability benefits, would get $300 checks."
They're just trying to appease us with their meager rebate checks. Reminds me of Marie Antoinette's phrase, "Let them eat cake".
I will be donating my rebate check immediately to Ron Paul's rEVOLution!
I agree. Bring them all home.
That includes Korea and other unnecessary military bases around the world. Look at the money we will save just in the loans to China.
Let's utilize the troops here at home to secure OUR borders. Not South Korea's, not Iraq's. And at the same time we can take the corporate profit out of these unnecessary undeclared wars.
And who's economy is the stimulus package REALLY helping. I think China will end up being the beneficiary of those inflation creating dollars.
You may not like this post
I agree that we should not be involved in any of these foreign intrigues. BUT, I truly believe that these wars are mainly to support the dollar. The push to go into Iran has the same cause as Iraq--the dollar. If the dollar is ever successfully decoupled from oil we will be hurt VERY badly. I personally feel that we should take our medicine and then rise from the ashes. But I don't like the thought of seeing so many people suffer from the 30's style depression that will inevitably follow.
I like being the richest country in the world--the benefits are awesome- but I'm not willing to sacrifice my freedom or the freedom of the rest of the world to support my own appetite for the good life. When the dollar finally loses it's support, it will fall like a rock. The fed will hyperinflate to try and save the financial industry, but it will destroy us anyhow.
Sorry, but it looks this bad
Stimulus a hoax...Nothing can help as much as Iraq withdrawal
Now, if we withdraw from Iraq, billions stay home. Thats a lot more than the stimulus, really an economic hoax.
A stimulus, the few hundreds? No! a rush to inflation with printed money.
