I hope everyone reads this thread, because the advice given would apply to almost anyone in the Ron Paul movement.
Another pearl that I have discovered recently is an organization in tune with the policies and philosophy of our movement which encourages positive political action. Although I have not yet joined, the web site and a video that I have seen make a lot of sense. I would encourage everyone in the ongoing movement to join this organization in addition to any other good continuing organizations that will help us expand and make our efforts more effective.

that's what I'm running for. That's a position that's for areas where you have commissioners instead of mayors, so you'd have to see what's available to you in your area. As joeolive said, though, it may be too late already to get your name on the ballot this year. I'd recommend attending town meetings regularly, though. That's probably the best way that all of us can get involved.

YES, you absolutely should run for Congress! I saw a thread here before asking why it is so important for Dr. Paul to keep his congressional seat if he is not able to win the Presidency. The truth is that we would have MORE power with a majority of Ron Paul type people in Congress than with one man in the Presidency! We ALL should do whatever we can to support any Ron Paul type politicians at all levels of government, but to get our country back on track we must really focus on Congress.

To answer your specific question, you are very young which is great because you will need to start small to get some public service experience. Try to get on a school board, or city council, or some other local public service position. Next, try to find a pet project which your area really needs help with, something newsworthy. For example, charities fit in very well with Ron Paul's libertarian leaning platform. Do a bang up job for your position and pet project for a few years. Last, get back in to the Ron Paul grassroots network, (which should still exist even after current elections) to seek support as you run for the House of Representatives, or better yet the Senate! Since there are less members of the Senate than the House of Rep., we would definitely have more political muscle faster by going for the Senate, but with enough time we might eventually be able to get a majority in the House of Rep.

Last words of advice: Be careful of the charms of power, as it does have the ability to corrupt. You will see what I mean if you do go down this road. It is your responsibility to stay true to yourself and the people, as limiting government's power is what you are trying to do. Read a lot as well. It's not only great intellectual enjoyment, it also helps raise your level of spelling, grammar, and vocabulary - very helpful for public service and speaking (note: your wording above should be 'utmost' instead of 'upmost'). And definitely remember what Ron Paul always says: Have fun!

Too late to run for anything this year....... you would have had to collect signatures at the same time you were collecting signatures for Dr Paul.....

Become a delegate PA delegates are no bound for the convention so any delegates there can vote for who ever they want. Become a precinct leader in your area. WE NEED DELEGATES AND PRECINCT LEADERS

That is where you start : Learn the ropes in the delegate process then next election in 2 years run for office : City council, Mayor or even Congressman

I would love to run for congress. I am from Illinois, unfortunatly our congressman for district 19 is John Shimkus and he is not going to give it up any time soon. I am thinking about runing for some thing like the Illinois general assembly. I know the age requirement for the Illinis general assembly is 21. Any advice? I am 21 an associates degree in aplied science. Any thing I can do to better myself as a candidate?

my own city has a min. of 25 yrs old...no felonies, etc...before going through the exspense.

Often times city council election
winners are decided by absurdly
small numbers of people. You'll
have to let people know you are
a Ron Paul supporter though for
them to find you.

Call the board of elections and ask if you can get an application
to be a precinct chairman in your district. Get voted in during the
Pa Primary. Don't let anyone tell you that they don't need anyone
right now. You have the right to run.

Also become a precinct captain on the ron Paul website.
You can still canvass in PA. You have till April!
Ron will still be in the race then.

Then you can work your self up to committee person.

Get some experience there. Then you will be able to decide what to
do.

But don't let them corrupt your thinking. Change the Party.

I believe it's possibly that's it the best way to become knowledgeable with politics. Particularly Murray Rothbard. I'm studying him right now actually.

Once you become educated, then I would recommend running.

to be a part of some "committee" in your local city or county. Like being a part of City Council.

I have thought of doing things like this too. But I would go in and try to get fluoride taken out of the water, ban pharmaceutical reps from soliciting drs, raise the tax on tobacco and lower it on food, reject the RealID, put in toll booths and get rid of state tax (just a thought...it works in FL?), etc etc etc...

They would assassinate me :D
