Real ID Concern

Real ID is supposed to be implemented in May, I believe. The Convention is in September.

I expect there will be compliance issues with Real ID, and that the Ron Paul supporters will be fairly consistently against Real ID. So it might not be much of a stretch for the cops in St. Paul to check IDs for everyone wearing anything Ron Paul when we show up for the convention, and to detain those without their papers.

This would be completely consistent with the Neocon regime. Make sure Ron Paul supporters are kept from the convention, so their guy can win.

We'll need a strategy to prevent this. Any ideas?

I remembered I saw something

I remembered I saw something on "the news" about this a little while ago...

Getting you up to speed

North Carolina has already implemented theirs. 17 governors are fighting it in their states, so those could drag on. The only time you are forced to have it on your license is:

1. Your state has implemented the program.
2. Your license renewal date has come up.

If your license does not need to be renewed for 2 years, then you won't have the Real ID for 2 years. The convention will never be a problem. Probably less than 1% of the population will have it by then.

I don't think so...

While many states are not yet complying with the real id act I think you would only be stopped or detained with great difficulty and embarrassment, not to mention the unbelievable uproar you would hear from the unsuspecting folks at the convention who might get wind of it. Can you imagine what a shock to the system it would be for those who don't know or understand real id to see people arrested in America for not having their papers at the RNC?!?! If it were to happen(which I doubt very seriously it will), I think it would do the country a great service. Maybe then people would wake up and see that their rights have been stripped away. Maybe they'll stand up and do something about it.
On a similar note, I was in the tire store yesterday when a local policeman came in to take a report about a guy who ripped off the store. I asked the officer if he knew anything about whether our state was going to comply with the real id act and what the repercussions were going to be. He had no idea what real id was. I didn't bother to tell him that he has one in his back pocket. These are the guys who are supposed to protect us, and this is how ignorant we are.

D'OH, Is the convention to be held

Is the convention to be held in a "federal building?" Some states are holding out and refusing to comply. Will this be a "push" for compliance? It would be sad to think some would be denied access bc they didn't have "their papers." Just a thought............

Use your passport

Just use your passport.

Ta-DA!

No Real ID issues and no denied access.

Its a great backdoor to compliance with the REAL ID system.
