Out of office notice. Friends, I'm going to be away from the site Friday, Saturday & Sunday. I won't have email access, either. I have a friend looking after the site just in case things get too crazy! But for the time being, you're in charge! -- Michael Nystrom. Please buy a poster and support the site!
Great idea about the Iowa Forums.
Saw a great idea on the Lew Rockwell Blog about that forum in Iowa posted by James Ostrowski. Rather than trying to get Dr. Paul in we should stage an event across the street to show them what real support is. Check it out.

I'm wondering about whether
I'm wondering about whether Failor's decision to not invite Dr. Paul resonates with the rank and file of the two organizations. It seems to me to be nothing more than an effort by a McCain supporter (Iraq war hawk) to exclude the only anti-war candidate and thus prevent the membership an anti-war choice.
Is there some way to bypass the leadership and appeal to the delegates? Maybe an after forum invitation to a local eatery to listen to Dr. Paul?
great idea
I would be more than willing to drive the 4+ hours to show support, and I know others who would be happy to travel from further distances. The Ron Paul movement needs a major offline event to disprove the theory that we're just a handful of spammers meddling on the internet. With the proper organization this could be a huge step in the right direction. We should at the very least show up in the general area to be seen and to hand out pamphlets, in a respectable manner of course.
Make a stand in Iowa
If enough people show up in Iowa at the forum and stand outside and make a racket that they can hear inside while the forum is going on they will never forget who Ron Paul is. The myth that Dr. Pauls supporters are just internet spammers will also be seriously challenged. That would make some serious news. So go sign up for the meetup.
idea
Dr. Paul should simply do an on-line event where he answers and addresses all forum questions and issues.
Idea
Yes, the online event is a good idea. Doing something across the street from the Candidates' Forum would, IMO, be in poor taste after the extremely bad behavior exhibited by some RP supporters. Barraging Mr. Failor's home with tel. calls and speaking combatively with him, his wife and children is bull crap. Those people need to grow up.
When This Becomes More of A Protest
......than an election, we are all missing the point. WARNING: Look at your meetup groups. If they are not drawing all age groups, socio-economic levels, genders and past political leanings, go back to the drawing board. You are more like a fraternity or sorority choosing your members by your actions. I have decided against two meet-up groups here for that very reason. To me, some actions are not only counter-productive, they are destructive. For instance, anything that undermines the credibility of the internet which is our best friend now is absolutely destructive. Angy people coming from an "I'll show them" standpoint will secure ZERO votes for Ron Paul. Conversely, they will be an enormous turn-off,
Any group for Ron Paul where my voice can't also be heard and where I am an active member only if I do things that are beneath my own code of ethics or integrity is not a group I want to join. I will put my time and efforts in another direction.
Just ask yourself, am I taking part in a protest and what do I expect to gain for Ron Paul by doing this. Twenty or Fifty or even 100 angry people means zippo. Twenty smiling faces handing out information about what Ron Paul stands for to people who want that information or will take it speaks volumes.
Across the street? Or across town, either way...
I think that an event in Iowa near the offending debate forum is still a good idea, despite the home phone calls and such. If we have more people on hand than all the other candidates put together, the story would write itself in the Iowa papers. Online activity seems pretty easy to dismiss, since so many people don't understand this world. A real-life gathering is much more effective at demonstrating support. How many people in Iowa can we really muster? There's nothing inherently rude about a campaign rally.
I'm still hoping that they cave, though. That would be a better victory, IMO.

Boycott the companies that support those two groups.
If I was Dr. Paul, I would not accept an invitation for the Iowa Forum now if they sent it in gilt. Personally, I think that after the way he and the American people have been insulted, I would boycott every company that supports these two Iowa groups until they don't. I am for snubbing the self-righteous arrogant snobs. Each and every one of us can be Ron Paul's forum....get out there and tell as many people as you can each day, but do it with class and dignity. Principles don't mean a thing, until they cost you something.
