Kerry Lewis writes:

"In this piece from the PBS Religion & Ethics Newsweekly, E. J. Dionne pointed out that Obama is actually speaking in the fashion of a revivalist. I've noticed the same is true of his wife Michelle. This seems to fit in nicely with the idea of Obama's movement being a sort of cult following. Revivalism from the beginning has only thrived insofar as a single individual is the focus of the devotion of the faithful, and that individual is chosen based on his ability to stir up excitement in his followers. Objective truth and deep sustained intellectual reflection are substituted with shallow rhetoric and easily attained emotional fervor. So, in fact, Obama actually has more in common with Charles Finney than with any former president, in that his views on policy are largely irrelevant to his supporters. In the modern context, Joel Osteen comes to mind. People don't care what he says, so long as he makes them feel good. But what we're witnessing is a sort of resurrection of the Caesar cult. People believe that the government is to be their savior, and they think Obama would make a good messiah."

GenBeau I find the devotion to Barry, I mean Barrack Obama's boot-licking followers, including the media, to be chillingly similar to the devotion ordinary German citizens had at one time to another gifted orator, Der Fuhrer. Seriously, if you look at old footage of stadiums full of chanting devoties... Again, the similarity isn't meant to be drawn between the two men, just the spooky effect they have/had on people.

Moron Obamanation....

Can I get an Amen

Can I get an Amen Brother?.....I've noticed the same thing.... Long on rhetoric, short on substance.

On the bright side

I think Lou Dobbs is turning the helm of this ship. I think his exposure of the TTC is going to get us on course. He is doing it for his own Presidency, but hopefully Ron Paul will be the beneficiary.

Also, all and tell all hair salons and resaurants about the no tax on tips. I am finding that to be a big success in those arenas.

Obama raps

Rap was born in the black community and has been glorified in the white community. Obama is the power rapper now. Good luck derailing him.

To all those that think Obama would "make a good messiah"...

I'm speaking entirely of RON PAUL of course in saying that subject line I used.

There is no equal when it comes to RON PAUL well, maybe JAMES MADISON, maybe THOMAS JEFFERSON -- but those folks happened a long time ago.

RON PAUL the only real-Republican, the only true-Constitutionalist; and yet somehow (?????) we are being told the lie that the American People would prefer MCCAIN or HILLARY or anybody else that MSM tells us we should be voting for. Go figure!

As a choice between not having RON PAUL on the GOP ticket, and OBAMA on the other side of the coin // OBAMA is the best of the worst. Some will argue that, some will argue RON PAUL (hard as that is to believe, it's true nevertheless), I personally have trouble thinking and saying what I just did -- but since we are going to be lied to and denied the true representative of The People [which I hope is wrong in my saying that also] I choose OBAMA over any of the other jerks. He is a cup half full, he is distant cousin to 'dick'head CHENEY -- but he is not a CLINTON and he is not a BUSH (MCCAIN) clone either.

My $.02 (and no change expected) ;-)

Hey Jerry, read the article in this DP Forum Topic

Please post here what you think. Just curious to see if you still think "OBAMA is the best of the worst".

Now that was a long read, but thanks for the info. Always nice to add to the confusion that bounces around inside my head, gives the other things bouncing around inside there also a cushion and me a chance to push it all away for a short period.

-- Maybe that's a headache I'm describing, not sure right now ;-)

Since you asked me to comment: Davis died in 1987 -- 20 years ago; that was about the time OBAMA was 26 years old himself. Hey, I'm nearly 62 myself, so a person 26 years old [to me] is still pretty much a kid -- but that's another story; sorry to drift like this.

Davis was black, OBAMA is black -- I'm not black, but I believe I can understand a black man listening to [wanting to listen to] another black man, especially one that had established himself in the world. In Hawaii, yet. To me -- I don't find that so far in left field; I can get it. That stuff about Davis being affiliated with the Communist Party -- that's important for sure (for Davis) but not something I really want to get bent around the axel over. That's 1950's-fear all over again // We've got enough 2008-fear to worry about at the moment, I think.

That article (lengthy as it is) was written as a hit piece, it doesn't take much sense to figure that out. It was well written but designed to slander OBAMA and make the reader react in a certain manner.

I find the possibility that OBAMA listened to the poetry of a black man, an alledged Communist, far less offensive than a MCCAIN that may very well have personally been a traitor to the United States while a Prisoner Of War (POW) in Vietnam. Certainly nowhere near the offensive nature of GWB and his crime family (daddy Bush and so forth) // remember all that stuff in the news about GWB being a deserter from his National Guard Unit? -- now that stuff truly did get my attention because of the nature of what it was and who it was; it didn't mean much though the guy still got the job, and the guy that brought it to the surface for all to see (the longtime established news journalist) well he got fired over the TRUTH of it. OBAMA listening to a black man (Davis) and his poetry 20 years ago (or whatever) seems minimal at most. That's how I see it.

So you're saying a cup half full of cyanide is better than a full cup of cyanide.
The truest line is your last line: No change expected.

Ha ha ha ha ha -- excuse me for laughing, but your comment was funny, true nevertheless, but funny.

Yeah, I understand your point but I didn't say exactly that -- never mentioned 'cyanide' // (got me laughing again) //

Actually a full cup or 1/2 cup of cyanide for comparison would make little to no sense because a person would never make it to a full cup of the stuff, if it even comes in cup sizes. I suppose we might go ask Goering -- no on second thought, too late to ask him anything isn't it.

How about looking at my earlier reference this way:
-- a cup 1/2 full of concern (OBAMA) for doing the job of President of these United States vs. a full cup (MCCAIN/HILLARY for examples) of not truly having a bit of concern for doing the job of President of these United States. To my way of thinking, if we can't have RON PAUL who would be giving us his 100-percent of concern, OBAMA and his half-assed concern is better than none. That's how I see it. Not a choice I prefer but one I will try and lever if the other two jerks are presented as possibilities. Perhaps you might want to consider doing a little interference running for the sake of that 1/2 cup full also, considering the other possibilities that strongly exist if the MSM reports are anywhere true and those dorks are pulling ahead in this race.

But again only if our hero is to be kept from us.
