Chris Peden - Are We Concerned?
Chris Peden, the opportunist neocon running against Dr. Paul in the 14th district, is being played in the media as a threat to our seat. Pajamas Media, for instance, is claiming that their polling has Peden beating Ron Paul by 11 points (43-32).
Are we concerned enough?
Is this lone poll accurate?
What can we do, other than donate, to make sure Dr Paul retains his seat?
If we lose the primary, will Dr Paul run as an Independent?
I am starting to get rather anxious. Please, somebody, quell my fears.

If Dr. Paul loses his congressional race
and he suspects voter fraud or faul play it might just piss him off enough to run 3rd party. What else would he do with his time. He has a movement to lead.
Wilmington NC LOVES Dr. Paul
Fear Not
Dr. Paul has been an OB/GYN in this area for 40 years...
He has represented this area in congress for 20 of the last 30 years...
If anyone knows him, it is this constituancy...
I'll bet Dr. Paul is sending every household a nice campaign package in the mail, explaining how the neocons are out to get him again... Same way Newt tried during the "contract with america"...
You know, the one where Dr. Paul was outspent by about 3 to one, they neoCONS lost the primary and then backed the dem? And lost even worse than the primary...
While nothing is a cakewalk in politics... I see only cause to be vigilant here, not to fear.
wtf
Pajamas Media? Nightgown Media has Ron Paul winning the election...
Hope
Keep the faith. I, too, am always a little concerned because the opponent is so dirty. His ads are all lies about the Dr.
I was on a Townhall thread and someone was asking for money to unseat Ron Paul and put this clown in. I responded how crazy that is and no one contradicted me, so...

Dr. Paul has a 70% approval rating.
Even McCain supporters in the district say things like. "We have to keep him in Congress."!
I'm not too concerned but am still slightly concerned. We will be out canvasing in the district on Saturday at 10:00.
My concern really is with the local GOP being crooked and voter fraud. I put up a sign at the local polling place and it went missing but Pedens is still there.

Yes! but don't quit
The poll is not true (ask the campaign manager) but you should never quit. Call people, talk to people and get the message going forward. If you talk to a Texan, ask them if they want a congressman with an active and very vocal voice in every other congressmans district. Let's face it, not supporting Paul makes you a target in your home state. All elected officials need to understand this.
Yes
Yes, there are serious concerns in the 14th. That is why Ron has, for the most part, taken a break from the national campaign.
Both Peden and Paul's polls show the same thing, Peden leading by 10 points.
He has been campaigning hard in the district for months. His numbers have been climbing.
But the Paul campaign does have a few tricks up there sleeves. They can dish it out just like Peden has been.
Pajamas Media
... was founded by the fellow who runs Little Green Footballs (www.littlegreenfootballs....). Trusting much of what is said on that website, or any connected to it, could be foolish.
It used to be interesting. Until it turned into "Kill the ragheads!" HQ.
Live Free Or Die; Death Is Not The Worst of Evils.
On the other hand
Fortune Favors the Bold
Paul has some very powerful enemies now and they are throwing alot of weight behind this Peden clown. Plus the 14th has been redistricted to include suburban Houston.
It could be close. If you can donate to Paul's congressional campaign, please do.
Consider yourself quelled
Dr. Paul has won tougher fights, like in 1996. His campaign managers know how to win a House seat. Republican primary turnout will be low since the presidential nomination is decided, so Dr. Paul's long-established ground operation will carry the day in his district. Peden's campaign will of course tout any internal polling that is favorable to him, but keep quiet on polling that is not. Texas Republicans are very incumbent-friendly and his constituents have known Dr. Paul for a long time. There will be defections on the war, but most will stay with him because he is a known quantity and has always provided great constituent service. But if Dr. Paul was the challenger he wouldn't stand a snowball's chance in hell.
