The more I think about it, the Ron Paul Phenomenon is Ayn Rand's prognostication about the revolt against parasitic socialism. In Ayn Rand's book people commanded their fields of interest because they had exceptional responsibilty and determination, however they were sidelined (and purposefully abdicated their responsiblity) because ignorant, greedy masses wanted only the profits and none of the knowledge. Does this kind of thing sound familiar? Maybe alternative medicine and alternative fuels?
Except in the real world version exceptional people aren't sidelined, they die suddenly (what happened to Stan Meyers?) or they aren't allowed to practice (how easy is it to get holistic health insurance? what happened to the electric car?).
In response today John Galt is running for President and no one except his campaign knows the ace in his pocket. (maybe they know how to generate electricity from static in the air)
