How many WANT to go?

I know that without a firm date it will be impossible for many people to commit to going to the march. However, has anyone tried to get an estimate of the MOST we could expect ? I know a truly accurate count would be impossible to get over the Internet, but somebody needs to try to get a ball park figure. It would be a shame if people started hyping numbers like 500,000 and only 25,000 showed up. The MSM would have a field day with that. Couldn't this really backfire?

I WILL be there!

I live all the way up in Oregon, but come Hell or High Water, I will be there! Almost 6000 miles round trip! No matter WHEN it is held! I just wish someone would come up with a firm date so more folks could make plans, too. I think that is the only glitch that is cooling enthusiasm for the march at this time. A LOT of people are willing to give up time and money, but they have to be able to make plans ahead of time. Hopefully, there will be some decision made on this soon.

I think the carpool concept is absolutely amazing! It would be such an impact for folks to see huge groups of Ron Paul supporters. I am trying to organize carpools from up here in our neck of the woods -- 4 to a vehicle minimum -- would keep costs under control, and make it fairly easy to share driving duties. I am trying to get my 14 year old grandson interested in going, too. I think this is going to be history in the making and I fully intend to be part of it!

I don't want to go.

I want to spend my time with my family in my home and use my money in other ways, but it is too important not to go, so I will.

I want to go...

...but it will all depend on the date. That, and ticket prices from Hawaii to D.C. Oh, and permission from the wife... :)

Moncton Canada to Washington

I'm planning on driving down for this march. It may be the most important thing I do in my life for me and the young ones.

Canuck for Ron Paul

I'm sorry but I don't understand

Who on here doesn't want to go? Nobody HAS to do anything. Isn't that what we're marching for? Liberty? Our God-given rights to live in a free republic? Not worth it to spend 150 bucks to make history? Is there any possibility that I'll be afraid of the inevitable scrutiny of the media on this? Let's have some real threads and not this nonsense.

Dr Paul said it was a risk...but my guess would be...

millions !!!

This is not an official site

but as long as it draws enthusiasm..

I am all in favor of anything to help the cause.

But if a lot of people show up, the MSM is going to ignore it, or try to find some negative aspect to report. If very few show up, that will play that like a fiddle.

I love activism especially when it is smart. This needs to be carefully evaluated for both the upside potential and the downside risks and then weighed in comparison to other ways to spend the resources of time and money.

whatever...

Evaluate this!

hey rexorooter

you a big tim mcveigh fan? or were you one of his handlers?

Can't you post under the right comment?

Listen wortass....what is your problem? Talk to me.

talk to you?

me? wortass?
nah, we both have better things to do.

No excuses!!!

I am going regardless of the date! I will clear my schedule, I will take a personal day, I will call in sick if I have to WHATEVER IT TAKES TO GET THERE!!!!
That is my commitment.

As I've calculated and

As I've calculated and posted some days ago, in order to have an impact similar to Martin Luther King's march (in numbers, anyway), we will need all of 400,000 participants. Anything less will receive scoffing from the media, although we shouldn't let that stop us. We just need to work hard enough to inspire that many Revolutionaries to get off their butts!

Liberty for Dummies

Snapshot of meet-up membership

106,675 Members in 1,598 Meetups, 10,917 waiting for a Meetup

This membership number reflects families who will go to the march, but have only 1 or 2 household members signed up on meet-up.com, people who lost their password and signed up more than once, people who signed up a long time ago, but don't follow the campaign anymore, etc., etc., etc.

What we need are some general estimates from a sampling of meet-ups of how many plan to go to the march and then we could compare those percentages to the number of people signed up on those meet-ups. This would be hard to do because so many people can't follow the volume of email from their meet-up. Another way of estimating would be to determine how many active members are in your meet-up. This would include people who have come to meet-up meetings, who communicate regularly with the meet-up, and who signed up for the precinct leader program.

Even if the number was accurate for who would want to go the the march, it would be hard to estimate who CAN.

Actually, it's the precinct leader program in my area where we've seen the greatest number of people who are active. Not that many people go to the meet-ups or guns shows. The real numbers have turned out in the precinct leader program.

**Multiply the number of precinct leaders by the average household size (and prorate the numbers for the states where the program was never fully launched) and you may have a decent ball park estimate of the people who want to go.

I want to puke...

because you are wondering whether or not you should go. We need to take this revolution to the next level. Fuck the people who are waiting to see who else will go. Fuck the people who think this is going to end peacefully. Come on patriots, this is going to get real serious and I expect you to step up and add to our good military who are behind us. Wipe you ass with the other hand and get on board.

There should be no question...

As to whether a Ron Paul supporter should go to the march.
Knock off a bank if you have to, but GO!

I will go, but just booked

I will go, but just booked family vacation and I pray it is not that week!

Are you scared....?

that not many will go? Then stay home. If... and and say if... I had my way we would all go armed.

possible date

It is looking like the date may be 6/21/08 but dont quote me I have been hearing this date from some good sources. This is not set in stone yet

We need to watch what we say...

I know that I would love to go. But I cannot PLEDGE until a firm date is set. I just thought it was rather bizarre that so many people were arguing about a date, a name for the march, whether it was a "march" or a "rally", who should speak or entertain, etc. and still no one had a clue how many people could possibly show up. I know we have to have estimates just to get a demonstration permit. I don't think it would hurt our cause even if only 25,000 people showed up, as long as that was the ANTICIPATED (and publicized) number. Although it would be a whole lot better to have MORE show up than we estimated. (After all, lets see John McCain get that many people to travel hundreds or even thousands of miles to attend anything!) But as with any publicity event, the presentation is everything.

Oh yes...

let us be concerned what the MSM says. We wouldn't want to disappoint them. I am so scared of what they might think. Oh my, shall we o such a radical thing? You are a gutless bitch.

We're all chompin' at the bit here..

I've literally got a traincar of people on standby. I want to push the "book" button for Amtrak and then block out a hotel. But to pledge without a set date is ludicrous. Fifty different people with families, school, work, and finances to juggle are waiting for an answer from Ron. The sooner the better.

The Granny Warriors

offer a specific date and some here thwart it. They can't grasp the concept that some know they will not be able to attend at a later date . Apparently, they reject the idea of choice. WE ALL WANT A MEGA MARCH but it is not logical to think that once Paul sets the date, EVERYBODY be able to show at that date!!!

they are taking pledges here

http://ronpaulmarch.com/

and it is abysmal. I have begun to suspect the reason HQ does not set a date is due to this low response. I know it makes me very sad.

They are in the process of securing permits

Fortune Favors the Bold

I'm sure the Washington bureacracy is fighting them hard on this. They want to get a date with the most permits possible. It would be great if we could get a permit for the mall. Let them do the work, they are on it.

This site is, too

http://www.revolutionmarc...

Bet there's more...but I have a headache... ;)

Pledges

are abysmal because HQ has not set a date.

Date?

I personally cannot commit until I know the date. Some of us have commitments that take priority over the march. I really don't think the low numbers are due primarily to apathy.

I don't see how people can

I don't see how people can pledge to attend when they have no idea when the march will be, especially people that live on the other side of the country.

its easy if you think about it.

their priority is to march. nothing else has a higher priority for them.

ron paul 2008

EXACTLY!!! :D

EXACTLY!!!

:D

that's the problem with Americans

Even many Ron Paul supporters think this is something cool we're doing. Typical brainwashing stuff like setting out goals and most of them unrealistic. That's what they've been doing for decades. Then if you don't reach your estimated dream goal your automatically a loser.
WE need to break out of this kinda thinking or this insanity will never end

Good point here

and good stuff in the original post.

When I took over the top job in my company I promised myself and my coworkers that there will be no more unrealistic goals that destroy morale. We will have realistic goals and work with a collaborative fever to get there. Since then, 11 of 12 years of growth, not too bad.

As RP said, too small a number can do damage to the message. If there are any less than 100,000 of us it will hurt. Someone elsewhere on DP just said 'millions.' That is unrealistic, and will cause another kind of damage.

need a set date!

I have to fly, don't have enough vacation to do the convoy. Need to book a flight as soon as possible to get the lowest rates.
