An open letter to non-Americans everwhere

Dear friends,

I know how many of you around the world view the United States and the people who live here. We push our culture, our values, and our problems on others. We're self centered and rude when we're visitors. This is secondary if you've been on the wrong end of our military.

I want to apologize, but i also want to explain. We are not bad people, largely the opposite. What we are is misguided and largely ignorant. We have had life so good for so long, that we're complacent and believe we deserve it simply because of who we are. We have forgotten the ideals that made us, and we have embraced nationalism. Often those who are proudest of man's achievements deserve the least credit. We have become powerful because of the greatest among us, the anonymous few who have driven change, who drive industry, and who drive ideas.

America has been built because it allowed those rare talents among us to achieve for their own good. We have allowed these people to keep the fruit of their labor and have built a great nation because of it.

We have moved from that mindset, and thus have weakened. We're continuing down the path of collectivism and the false ideal of shared goals. We've allowed the governement gradually more power to orchestrate the economics, to guide the economy. It was not a centrally planned economy, but one of individual free will. Free will is such a powerful concept, but it is sometimes hard to wrap your mind around such a complex and unpredictable thing.

Yes, we have lost our way, and now cling to empty promises of an ever expanding and ruling empire and lifetime entitlements. We in America sometimes think we deserve our share of the success of others, and that is a disease we are stricken with.

We've also forced our military will on virually defenseless nations. We've done so and set a bad example for the rest of the world. The old adage "Let there be peace on Earth, and let it begin with me." have taken second stage to "making the world safe for democracy."

We used to be the leader the world should look up to, but sadly for this writer we are not. We have moved away from freedom, and moved away from peace. We have ignored the advice of the greatest men in our history and have tried to contruct an empire. We have done this, and friends, i'm sorry.

We have not done these things with eyes wide open, rather we have been blinded by our success and the fruits of that success. I believe America will be awakened to this eventually, and i'm optimistic we can be a great example of what government and industry should be. America can be that shining city on top of the hill, but we must first realize we are not there and further every day.

Be patient with us, and please tolerate us while we find direction. Know that there are many of us here who can embrace living in peace and allowing others to do the same. Please see us for all the good we represent, and not for the sometimes ugly exterior that you see.

Let the R3volution trandscend Ron Paul, let the ideals we all share transcend national and cultural boundries. Government should only exist to protect our freedoms, both socially and economically, and be only as large as absolutely necessary.

Don't worry about us

I'm sure I speak on behalf of all travellers who visited America. You are kind, warmong and welcoming. (After one gets through and out the other side of the Terminal). We will be back as my brother Arnie says.
(Sorry,-typo-'Warming').

Good luck out there &Thank you. It's appreciated'.-fip -U.K

I appreciate your thoughts, my friend, but please don't feel that you need to apologise on behalf of the ignorant, unpleasantly vocal minority.

You're quite right about how America is viewed by much of the world, but all us Thinking People from other nations - the folk who take the time to disassociate a people from their government and who wait till they've met someone or lived somewhere to form a real opinion - WE understand that this vocal minority stands in stark contrast to the heartland of America. My experience of Americans is very good (I married one of them), and this can be held true for anyone I know who's spent any real time in the States.

The current neo-fascist-socialist trend cannot be sustained - through choice or through imposition things as they stand will crumble and what will rise up to take its place will follow the Constitution. That's what makes America great - you have this wonderful blueprint and it's one that is still held dear by America's people.

I have no doubt that the USA will become the example that your Founders envisaged - more so than ever before. You need to experience the darkness before you can appreciate the light, and things have gotten pretty damn dark. I have no doubt that the US will come back stronger than ever before and it's thanks to you guys. Keep up the good work - many of us around the world are right there with you in spirit (and financially where possible) and I have no doubt that we'll win this thing, one way or the other.

Live Free or Die - Amen to that

King George

It's ok, we understand. We also had a crazy King George who ignored everything parliament did and sent troops into overseas colonies to force his will on them.

The upside: He was hated by most everyone and spent the last nine years of his life in seclusion going slowly insane.

I'm hoping history repeats itself.

______________
We are not all like George W. Bush and those his daddy chose to guide and keep his son safe as our 'selected' president. And we are not all like William "Bill" Jefferson Clinton -- as some of us truly do feel the pain of others. I like to think of a majority of us being like RON PAUL although I suspect many of you have no idea who that is nor what it is he stands to represent // and with that as my closing, I would ask that you start investigating here:

Thanks

Well neighbour, thanks for the letter. I am sure that most people around the world are aware of your plight and understand that it is not the people of the USA but the fascist neo-cons who usurped the White house in 2000, that are to blame for the pirating and plundering of innocent nations around the globe.
All we want is for you folks to elect Ron Paul for president so we can look up to the USA once again as a shining example of a free society.
Oh ya and we don't want to be bombed in the mean time :)
Go Ron Paul!

You should have it

You should have it translated into a bunch of different languages.

I tried

I tried to use some online interpretation websites, but my limited knowledge of Spanish showed me that it wasn't coming out very clear.

Perhaps there is a native speaker in Spanish, French, German, or other languages that can help

Send it to the meetups in
