A School for Future Revolutionary Politicians?

Should we create a School for Future Revolutionary Politicians?

We have tennis schools, law schools, and business schools.... perhaps we need our own schools for Future Revolutionary Politicians.

We need to win some 300 house seats as either a D or an R. We need to win some 60 Senate seats as either a D or an R.

We need to hone our political Likeability skills, our speech making skills and deepen our knowledge base on the Constitution.

There are schools that focus on the intellectual side, but perhpas we need a school that focuses on how we can become the next Ronald Reagan, JFK, and so forth...that is politicians with HIGH likeability and that desplays leadership skills and behavior that makes one appear as "the real deal, a real leader that the general public "naturally" chooses as an obvious leader".

Has this idea's time, come?

Who could and should teach at this school?

Where could this school hold its classes?

Where could I sign up?

dont you need 67 votes to override pres veto?

not 60, is that right?

Why not put together a

Why not put together a course that would include an indepth study of the Constitution and Bill of Rights at Auburn University, injunction with their Misses School of Economics? This course of study could then be offered on-line and in person, giving everyone in the country an opportunity to attend.

All we need is an Auburn and/or Alabama meet-up group or two, to approach the correct people at the school who can make it happen and present the idea. I would bet that those running the Misses School of Economics would jump at this opportunity. Dr. Paul could even possibly teach one of the classes or make various presentations.

Political Science Classes would probably need to be included in the make up of the course and maybe an American History class, as well.

Alabama, "Get'r Done"

Again, nothing deep and intellectual

We are so deep and intellectual already.

What I am saying is..... we need training in Bull Shit.....as in the ART of Bull Shit.

Its as if we humans make decisions on who is our leader and who we should support as our leader ONE of TWO Ways....

1) The BS way: such as age, height, personality, temperment, style, humor, attitude, all comming together in what THEY call a "natural born leader".

2) the intellectual way, as in we study the subject, choose a leader who gets the answers right.

90% of the people because of TIME and lack of knowledge, use method #1.

That is our problem....

The moment we think we've got BS figured out

someone will throw us a curve ball. You really are asking for something deep and intellectual because you're asking for the ability to stay a step ahead of manipulation.

Self educated is best of all

.

It worked for Greece and Rome!

YES! Let's hear it for all the autodidactics in the world! My son's first business card, at age 13, said "Autodidactic Military Historian". He knew more about military history than any of his public school teachers, having visited over 50 Civil War sites (The War of Northern Agression to those of Southern heritage) and spending a weekend in the UK with the head of The Napoleonic Society.

Read all the John Taylor Gatto books you can get your hands on. The multi-award winning NYC school teacher is a strong proponent of self learning and breaking free of the monopolistic, government-owned, compulsary schools that 98% of our children are attending.

Campaign Schools

The Parties Run Campaign Schools, if they like you they might invite you.

Seriously, I started out being trained in campaign schools, very intensive.

Ron Paul would be on top if all of you would invest time into learning how to run for office.

I consult and manage candidates for many kinds of offices.

No time to each you tonight but I am willing to share the secrets of how to build an effective campaign.

Likability is one very strong plus! The rest can be worked on!

Where are these Campaign schools?

Have a link?

Don't be coy

Campaign Schools

I don't have a link. Each of you need to start by contacting your state party, and ask them when they will be having a campaign school. Tell them that you would like to attend.

You can try at a local level, as each of you need to become members of your local republican city or town committee!

Local city and town committees, are the backbone for the party process, and it is from these committees that the delegate caucus process is organized.

So if you plan to be a Ron Paul delegate to the National Republican party Convention, start with them first, today, because they are organizing and choosing very soon.

Mises Institute

There is an excellent course in freedom education every year in Auburn Alabama called Mises University. http://mises.org/events/1...

This year it will be July 27-August 2, 2008. Consider attending if you can! The emphasis is on economics, history, and political philosophy. Or you can at least listen to lectures from past Mises Universities for free on the mises.org site.

What would be the first class? 101 ways to say NO.

I am serious about that, BTW, that should probably be the first class -- and maybe the LAST class that someone would take: 101 EFFECTIVE ways to say "NO" clearly and loudly.

Because to my mind, THE MAJOR PROBLEM with most politicians is clearly stated in Obama's tagline "Yes we can."

Can you abridge freedom of speech? "Yes we can" or NO YOU CAN'T!

Can you restrict gun ownership? "Yes we can" or NO YOU CAN'T!

Can we suspend Habeas Corpus? "Yes we can" or NO YOU CAN'T!

Can you tax peoples incomes? Or seize their property? Or force health insurance onto them? "Yes we can" or NO YOU CAN'T!

Only the NO YOU CAN'T! is the moral, ethical, and Constitutional answer.

Seems to me politicians need to be reminded of that constantly. The rest is just "fluff."

Speaking of such, always liked this little article..

The audacity of nope

....Nuts to all that

Today the party of Barry Goldwater and Reagan has gone from considering government the problem to believing that when "somebody hurts, government has got to move." Washington can supply everything from universal health insurance coverage at home to universal democracy abroad.

Paul and his supporters say nuts to all that.....

Funny and Clever, but that dog won't hunt.

Positive statements vs negative statements, positive wins all the time.

In greater detail, here is why... http://www.dailypaul.com/...

How is your night going Wrellim? Its Nice to read your clever thoughts again.

Treg / Tempe, AZ

Agree with the positive versus negative...

Guess I [mistakenly] thought we were talking TRAINING for politicians ACTIONS while in office NOT about the messages for the campaign trail. (Sorry, my bad, but I must have posted that while working on some other things -- and thought-stream crossed-over unintentionally).

You are of course correct about the need for POSITIVE trail messages (See my ManOfCommonSense flyers for THAT side):

It's not Anti-War -- it's Pro PEACE.
It's not Anti-Fed -- it's Pro PROSPERITY.
It's not Anti-Security -- it's Pro FREEDOM.

And my nights actually going pretty good, thanks for asking Treg!

Maybe that ought to be our catch-phrase for the

next election: "No you can't!"

How About...

..."Just Say NO!"

(oh wait; has that been used before?...)

Statesmanship Education

Oh, okay; I'll post this again. I've posted this info here on DP several times over, but for some reason it never seems to get its proper notice. I can only imagine most folks simply don't check the links, and therefore remain unaware of these programs and materials.

If you are interested in an education that will raise you and your family up to be statesmen, check these out. We use these as a guide for our homeschooling; one does NOT have to homeschool to use these resources, nor is the material presented here intended to supplant whatever curriculum you may or may not be using in the home. This is more about an approach to education than specific lesson plans; however, TJ Ed is heavily based upon a classical education. So...get ready to start reading. A lot.

There are also conferences you can attend, and I can attest that they are eye-opening and WONDERFUL.

George Wythe College -- for post-secondary education
George Wythe College
George Wythe was Thomas Jefferson's mentor. Quick snippet from their home page:
"George Wythe College stands on the belief that Statesmanship is the product of a particular educational system, known to the great leaders of the past, but lost to modern academia."

Do yourself a favor and actually go check these out. Frankly, I am surprised and dismayed that most "revolution-minded" people aren't clamoring for this and talking about it all over the Daily Paul. Once you check it for yourself, you will see what I mean.

And no, I don't work for them. ;) I just know these materials and conferences first-hand, and believe they are excellent for grooming statesmanship in our youth -- and even in us ol' grown-ups.

Not exactly ....

George Wythe College is not what I was trying to get at but it is good to know its out there. I am looking for a way we can shapen our political Likeability skills, our speech making skills, the skills of leadership that the general public looks for before voting.

Yes, there are schools that focus on the intellectual side such as George Wythe College in Cyder Rapids Utah and seminars at the Ludwig Von Mises Institute in Aurburn Georgia and several others, but perhpas we need a school that focuses on how we can work on our LIKEABILITY and SPEECH MAKING skills. Kind of like becoming a TV personality for Revolutionaries.... Perhaps these schools also do this, I do not know. But my armchair evaluation of these schools tells me they produce Murray Sabin PDs and stiff Ron Pauls.

My point is that way too many of us are serious enough, intense enough and have the intellectual acumen and the personality of a radical professor. What we need is a finnishing school that Humanizes us, takes off our nerdy intellectual ways and makes us Cool...as in KOOL, FUNNY, HIP and ONE HECK OF A NATURAL LEADER.

We have 300 congressional seats we must win, 60 Senate Seats we have to take. Perhaps George Wythe College is the place to put on a crash 16 week course may be JUST the TICKET for wantabee congressional Revolutionaries BEFORE they run for office.

Learn Public Speaking Skills

Oh! For speechmaking and public speaking skills, you cannot beat Toastmasters. http://www.toastmasters.o...

This can make you a great "Obama"...but of course, you need the background education if you wish to actually speak with substance. ;)

Great idea!

Not only do we agree on Ron Paul being the next president, I think we all agree on the Constitution too!

Double Effort

I think we need to keep track of everything the current federal and state level politicians do. A giant database the brings together laws and their issues, videos of speeches, etc. Then when we need to see how each person voted or took a stance on an issue such as taxes, we would have all the info right away. This could be used to keep bad people out of office or out of higher offices

Yes

and we also need to establish a series of political education classes to the public. People would be enlightened and respond if challenged correctly.

I would like to discuss with others having similar ideas.

We ARE Doing Precisely That

These exist, folks. Check out the Thomas Jefferson Consortium.

Also? Our family is conducting such classes ourselves, and are inviting friends and church members and neighbors to join us. We're getting a good response, and we haven't even officially started the class yet (so far, we've only been doing this within our family). It's getting to the point where we may have to move our meeting out of our home, and into our community clubhouse. YOU can do classes like this, too. Anyone can.

I again politely point to the above post entitled, "Statesmanship Education" for further details.

EDITED TO ADD THIS: You might want to consider having a seven-week series for folks to get together at your home just to watch and discuss Michael Badnarik's Constitution Class (available on YouTube -- hook up your computer to your HDTV and serve popcorn and appetizers!) -- make sure you have copies of those little pocket Constitutions to pass out to each attendee.

How About This for a Name...

"The Thomas Jefferson School for Constitutional Leadership"

If we build it, they will come.

Yeah, It Is A Good Name...

...so good, it already exists.

Check my post above entitled "Statesmanship Education". Then...click on the links provided!!!

I think it is a good idea

but how do you implent it? I don't really mean physically but philosophically. I am thinking of a book I read called the "Paradoxes of Group Life" awhile ago. The gist is that as we come to together as a goup we do it for a certain reason (such as RP), but think of all the RP suppoters on this site. How many agree on everything? I would say that the only thing everyone agrees on is that we need RP as President. Other than that there is always a debate. So how do we distill the ideas that are going to get the best results with the most support?
