How can the Republican Party, headed by a president determined on a war he can't see an end to, attract the support of a majority of the voters? General Petraeus, in his Pentagon briefing on April 26, reported persuasively that there has been progress, but cautioned, "I want to be very clear that there is vastly more work to be done across the board and in many areas, and again I note that we are really just getting started with the new effort."
The general makes it a point to steer away from the political implications of the struggle, but this cannot be done in the wider arena. There are grounds for wondering whether the Republican Party will survive this dilemma.
He probably was a nice guy, from what I hear, to those close to him but let's face it: His National Review for the last several decades has been nothing but a house Republican organ justifying to conservatives (or trying to) that party's march toward collectivism. RIP Bill.
Look, a lot of us probably don't like Buckley. I'm no fan, but let's be classy here. I saw some of the most hateful messages in death I had ever seen on some boards last year when the Rev. Jerry Falwell passed away. Let's not have a repeat of that.
I did not call his family and ask for an invitation to dance on his grave. I admitted my honest, gut response. We have to get over the desire to whitewash life, some of it is very, very messy. If my message sounds like "hate" to you, please re-read it. There is a social mindset out there that causes people to hear the word "truth" but process the concept "crazy conspiracy theory." It is a slippery slope, being so politically correct that we devalue honesty.
I wasn't really calling you out. I don't love what you said, but it wasn't really awful either. I just don't want this stuff to get out of hand, that's all. You don't have to celebrate anyone's life if you didn't like who they were. However, being respectful about it in the immediate aftermath of someone's death should be a no-brainer.
have a nice death
Sounded like a prototypical Bilderberger.

While many of you might believe that that these groups are perfectly harmless, Its hard to ignore their influence.
RIP Mr Buckely. Hope your skull doesn't end up in "the Tomb" like Geronimos.

honesty is not hateful

I wasn't directing it at you

Not always correct, but orders of magnitude more often than not, one of the good guys. RIP William Buckley.
OK, I am having one of those days anyway
Flag the hell outta me, but this is what I think about it:
