Mike Huckabee Accepts Values Voter Presidential Debate Invitation
(PressMediaWire) Little Rock, AR – Former Arkansas Governor and Presidential Candidate Mike Huckabee accepted an invitation to participate in a Values Voter Presidential Debate to be held on Monday, March 3, 2008. Huckabee received the invitation on Wednesday, February 27, for the debate which would also include Senator John McCain, Congressman Ron Paul.
"I look forward to discussing the issues that are important to the people of America such as health care, education, energy independence, terrorism and national security," Huckabee wrote in his letter of acceptance. "I will clear my schedule to make time for this important debate, provided Sen. McCain participates, otherwise we will keep our current campaign schedule."
On Tuesday, Huckabee challenged Sen. McCain to a Lincoln- Douglas Style debate, but has yet to receive an acceptance from Sen. McCain.
The Values Voter debate is scheduled to be held at the Marriott Riverwalk, 711 E. Riverwalk St. in San Antonio, Tex.

Ron Paul needs to PUBLICLY
Ron Paul needs to PUBLICLY demand debates. If they back down, it will be just as effective, if they come to the debates.
I suspect he might be doing that after the Congressional seat is
secured!

Huck and Paul should do the debate and then frame it if McCain doesn't come as something like:
Guess McCain isn't in the race anymore.
Bill it as a debate between the top 2 Republican Nominees.
During the debate, refer to themselves as the only sane, relivant choices.
State how no-show McCain doesn't care, this is how he treats his constituents... no representation.
This would be the 1st real debate wouldn't it? All these previous things have been exposition forums.
Notice the disclaimer
It says Huckabee will only participate if McCain does too. Fat chance of that! McCain has nothing to gain and much to lose if he agrees to participate in a debate.
Only a wish...
Huckster said he would be in if Mcgoofy was in, par for the coarse... Mcain runs from questions, have you not noticed? You can only run for so long... The msg will un-furl over time, how long it takes? You, We think we are right, I like to be right. We'll see... We can only do our best. The truth will tell as well! it shall set you FREE!
Remember the past as you look forward to today...
Nothing on the official campaign web site.
I don't think it's true.
Dallas Morning News
has just endorsed Huckabee
DUH!
He was practically anointed at the last one, I don't think McCain will show up for this. McCain didn't show up for the last one, why would he do it now? I wouldn't show up either if I were a candidate, even as a Christian (the format of the last one catered to the non-thinking crowd).

One exception to this; if they don't cancel when Mc Cain and Huckabee refuse to show (highly unlikely) If I were Paul, I'd show up just to point out who is really dissing Values Voters.
Showing Up is Half the Battle - And McCain Needs Press Coverage
McCain is not getting much free press coverage, and he can't be getting all that much in the way of funds, either, since so many see him as a shoo-in for the nomination.
The Press is more interested in the Clinton/Obama battle: more drama.
He could decide to go and score points for disagreeing with the group.

Is this a spoof?
I havent heard anything about it? I live in San Antonio, and if this is going down, we dont know about it...
In other news today...
Mon March 3, 2008
San Antonio, TX -- Some 12,000+ supporters of Congressman Ron Paul surrounded the Marriott Riverwalk, venue for the Values Voter Presidential Debate today.
"We have never seen so much enthusiasm for any presidential candidate in our time" said John Swenson, official spokesman for the Values Voter debate committee.
Meanwhile a McCain campaign coordinator who asked not to be identified was quoted as saying, "If only we could garner that kind of support and real energy from crowds of intelligent people, we would actually be able to beat the Democrats in November."
The lively throng of supporters had arrived with plentiful numbers of TV sets to watch the debate outdoors, others supplying bottled water and barbeque vendors were distributing food all evening.
when was this written?
it is dated March 3, 2008 which is tomorrow...and is already written in past tense like it has already occured...must be satire/spoof
Thank you for the News Flash...
and in other news, a group of thinking Christians is protesting the anointing of Huckabee as savior, they call for a true prophet to lead them back to the Constitution and freedom. These people are also supporting Ron Paul for President. A Christian mom and pop catering company is supplying the supporters with food, as well.

Ya, to bad us RP supporters are soooo stupid!
Even with only 3 candidates left
they still wouldn't ask Ron Paul
any questions!!
lol
I hope you are wrong
They should open it up to
They should open it up to all parties.
Alas, McCain's Not Stupid Enough To Accept
. . . he'd get pasted in a 3-man debate that included Paul.
The debate would be called off probaby
Because Huck would back out too. BUT, what if the hosts of the debate decided to go ahead with it anyways and give Dr. Paul the platform to himself and answer questions. It's still a win-win for Ron Paul. Just a wishful thought of mine.

People worldwide support Dr. Paul too :-)

True, but I have to wonder
True, but I have to wonder if anyone would televise it.
Huckster is scared of Ron Paul
He has to have his sidekick Mcinsane with him to help make distracting noises and stupid remarks to turn the debate into a joke. Dr. Paul would make the Huck look like a fool on stage if he was one-on-one against Dr. Paul.

Mccain
will not accept
Dr. Paul
needs to challenge Huck to debate with or without McCain and make it well known if he declines.
Did you read Huck's statement? He won't be at the debate.
He will attend only if McCain attends. McCain will not attend. So no debate.
Can you site your source?
I'm very interested in confirming this. Can you site your source?
I can't wait. This is going
I can't wait. This is going to be great! I think it's so hilarious when all the other candidates can do is giggle because they don't know what else to do when asked the difficult questions.
RP Should Ask
Huck why he said there are now only 2 republicans left..?
You can also see that he will only debate if Mc yuck does -
he wouldn't dare go one on one with Dr Paul ...
televised or no?
Keep up the great work!!
