4. Subjection; state of being under control or government.
"The most glorious military achievements would be a calamity and a curse, if purchased at the expense of habits of subordination and love of order."
I thought that would apply to these people who thinks that the government would be able to help them and people would obey the government if they decide what is right for the people and people would comply.
This person back then knew that it is a calamity and a curse if it happened! They knew that they needed the 2nd amendments of the right to bear arms.

the 2nd ammendment was given to the american people to keep the government inline.... to make sure that the government could not become tyranical.... PERIOD!
