Updated! Would Ron Paul accept a Vice President appointment with McCain as President?
Update! Read the Constitution and the 12th Amendment and it states that the electors shall vote independently for President and for Vice President, so theoretically we can force McCain to run with Ron Paul, can't we as delegates?
Of course we are comparing black and white opinions, but I don't see McCain winning against a Hillary/Obama ticket. Considering that most Ron Paul supporters, or at least I, won't vote for McCain in the general election, since I would be writing in my vote for Ron Paul.
If we look at history we know that Ronald Reagan had to accept Neo-con Bush as his V.P. So would it be unreasonable to think that Ron Paul could balance out the ticket for the Republicans. Many times V.P.s can get more accomplished than the president with a back room agenda (Look at Sir Dick Cheney). Let them attack McCain and Ron Paul can make the deals in the Senate as it's president and influence the Congress. Who knows McCain may even be required to step down in a year or two because of health or even impeachment, we can only hope, but at least Ron Paul would be in the lime light and in position to take over the Presidency.

absolutely not! how can you even suggest such a thing?

Wouldn't this be like...
...selling your soul to the devil?
Only as VP, you don't get much for it.
Nope, not a good idea. Don't see RP doing it.
Why would anyone who cares about RP and his message
even wish such a thing? It is an insult to RP.
Why Not Put This Same Energy You Have & Help Elect RP
Vote RON PAUL 2008
__________
All that U.S. Constitution research you've done --
Why not turn that passion of yours towards helping get the best person for the job elected to the right position // and by the way that's NOT AS VICE PRESIDENT -- but as -- POTUS.
Vote RON PAUL 2008 -- that might be your first step. Just a wild suggestion.
Why not just check the rules.
Sure the presidency is the big prize, but why do we ignore the possibility to have Ron Paul as Vice?
The Constitution establishes that electors choose the Vice President, not that the President chooses the Vice President, so why don't we try that angle.
Delegates are required to vote for McCain if he wins enough delegates during the primaries, but they are not required to vote for his choice for Vice, are they?
Sure for now we are fighting for the big prize, but if there is a way to get Vice President, why not? We just have to see what the rules are in each State for the Republican party when it comes to choosing a Vice President. It may be that we are hoodwinked into believing that the Presidencial candidate for the party chooses the Vice, but it could be that he doesn't.

I seriously doubt
Ron Paul would be willing to accept a VP spot with McCain when he won't even so much as endorse the guy.
No I don't think so but maybe Oprah
and she says no space aliens.
This belongs at the supermarket checkout counter.
All I'm asking is for people to read the Constitution and think!
According to the Constitution, President and Vice President are chosen by electors, period. So a person could theoretically run only for Vice President, regardless of who the President elected was!!!
This is so off topic

Well, let's see. Ron paul has a hardcore following of Militia types, disgruntled veterans, neo-nazis, fundamentalist christians, and other extremists who are armed, believe I'm an agent of a satanic conspiracy, and will do anything to get their man elected.
I know! I'll make him my VICE president.
What does the Constitution say!!!
Running with someone is not the same as supporting them. The Constitution clearly determines that the President and Vice President are to be elected separately. Read the Constitution and the 12th amendment. Regardless of McCain being president, Ron Paul can still be elected as Vice President, or are we to ignore this part of the Constitution as well.
You Are Talking As If MCCAIN Is Already President
Vote RON PAUL 2008
______________
Is that how you see it? That JOHN MCCAIN has the necessary delegates and the minds and hearts of the popular vote and for that reason we need to be helping him decide a VP? And you are willing to suggest we (the RON PAUL supporters) throw RON PAUL's name in the hat because they don't have to think alike, they don't have to support each other -- well, I think you've started this entire thread with the wrong premise. JOHN MCCAIN is not the President of the United States.
And if he becomes that (Heaven forbid) the very idea that a complete opposite in nearly everything I've heard (as you suggest otherwise) matters little to not. Well, I personally believe that two people working together need to get along -- I don't see RON PAUL and JOHN MCCAIN being able to do that.
That's how I see it -- and I certainly don't see MCCAIN as President of the USA. If a question is to be asked here -- perhaps it should be: Would RON PAUL select JOHN MCCAIN as his VP? // To which I believe most around here would say -- take a long hike and think again.
NO
McCain hates us...and a ticket of two 72 year olds would never fly
No.
And, I haven't even read your post.
Ron Paul has repeatedly stated that he will only support (not even run with) someone who clearly and sincerely believes in the "Ron Paul Doctrine".
An option
The reason I asked is because up until I believe the 12th amendment to the Constitution, the President and the Vice President were elected separately, and this amendment clarified this event, of course Republican rules are probably different. However, if enough pressure can be put on the party to force a choice of Ron Paul for Vice, that is still better than his not running for president. Since he has already declared that he will not run in a third party, he is Republican afterall. Vice president has a lot of influence, as we know from recent history, Al Gore was very influencial as is Mr. Dick Cheney. George Bush was forced down Reagan's throat, so perhaps if we can force Ron Paul down McCain's. Of course this is only a last option, since we are still fighting to win, good luck tomorrow.

that will never happen ...
that will never happen ... and he probably wouldn't because he would feel the obligation to represent those people in th 14th district .. he is winning 63% down there and if he were to leave then it would fall into the hands of that neo con Chris Peden (idiot)
the chances are - NOT a chance!
He has been one of the most critical of Ron Paul. He'd be much more likely to pick Romney, since Romney bowed out of the race for him. Huckabee has a better chance of being consen by McCain than Paul.

Libera me, let the truth break, what my fears make--Leslie Phillips
McCain has already picked a V.P.
He's not going to announce it, but who other that his close pal, the other "Bombsy Twin", Lieberman? Anyone notice that as soon as McCain said that he would like Lieberman for V.P last December that McCain was the "comeback kid" by January? Alright, perhaps not V.P. but at least high enough to make Joe's dream of bombing Iran a reality.
Vote for..
stupidest post on daily paul.

And Somebody Once Said There Is No Bad Question // Wrong!
Vote RON PAUL 2008
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
HAHAHAHA...you're to funny...second....choke choke....hahahahhaa.....second....gag gag...cough cough.....hahahha Ron Paul and McCain as a team...........hahahaha....vomit....gag....hahahha.....
NO ! Stupid Question .
Ron Paul won't even vote for McCain, why would he accept a VP job from him. That takes him out of Congress were he can keep up the good fight. Making Ron VP kills the message.
President or nothing. We write Ron Paul in or vote libertarian. No Compromise.
If RP selected McCain
I would lock myself in a hole and never come out.

I've thought of this but consider it very unlikely.
McCain will pick another CFR member. The power elite wouldn't risk letting Ron Paul run things should McCain have to step down. I honestly don't think Paul would ever accept either.
