You can always count on The Onion for pointed satire and this is pretty darn good.

Satire? I wish not.
If only it were for real. I would still have hope. Unfortunately, the process isn't controlled to that extent. The people are *demanding* the tyranny, and they'll get the slavery they deserve. But we'll get it too.
If it really were a puppet democracy, we would have something to overthrow.

Fabulous satire.
Just because something might be closer to the truth than we would like doesn't keep it from being hilarious. This is exactly how absurd the news reports on the campaign seem to me now that I am aware of how carefully controlled our elections are. In the end, the erosion of freedom by control of the press is just as revolting as the electronic voting machine, just not as efficient.
