The Creature from Jekyll Island

I read this book 10 years ago and all his predictions are coming true.
I feel like I know so much more about economics than nearly everyone I come across. Most people keep having faith in the dollar, and consider me a pessimist or chicken little. But once you read this you will have a firm grasp on how a fractional reserve banking system works and how we have been cheated by the feds. You will also know the complete world history of banking and why fiat currencies never last long. You will have strong confidence in buying precious metals or Euros, knowing that the USA economy cannot last as it is,

It's not difficult to understand our monetary and banking system

at least not as difficult and complicated as the banksters and politicians would have you believe. Those crooks don't want us to figure out their scam. Well, it's too late!

Forbes ran this great piece today, written by Ron Paul. The good Doctor is as forceful and elegant as he has ever been in this article.

I've known about this book for a while but

just assumed if I'm watching documentaries and reading books that keep mentioning it then I'm bound to be getting some of the same info.... I've never read any of his stuff though so it looks like I might have to pick it up.

"I killed the banks"

Great book

I read it in high school and have been brushing up on it lately. It lays out monetary policy, the fed and its history, and the need for a gold or some kind of hard standard very clearly. We are taught to think that economics is very complicated and that it can't be understood by non economists. The reality is that the fundamental concepts are very simple. This book does a good job of explaining in a way the average reader can understand.

Great book. I highly

Great book. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about our financial system. I even found a couple copies in a local Barnes & Nobel so its easy to get your hands on it.

Ron Paul endorses the book too, right on the back cover.

Right on Rawlady!!! I fully empathize with you...

I read this book also about 10 years ago, and have been preaching gold/silver and the dire future of the world/US economy since 2000 or so... No one listens/listened.. Maybe 1 of 2 out of literally 1000+ people I have talked to... And yes, you DO know more than almost anyone you meet about economics and politics. I agree, I feel this way about most of reality, history, economics, poltics, nutrition (I am a raw food vegan too), exercise, weight lifting, conspiracy, etc etc...

The truth of the matter is, that most Americans (prevelant here) are in fact stupid, moronic, and ignorant.

The average IQ in America is around, most likely, 80.

I have lost all patience with most street walkers I come into contact with, unless they individually interact with me and prove me wrong by being kind/intelligent/considerate/aware/informed...

This whole country is a big joke... too bad the good people among us get lumped in with the majoritive bafoons and will be negatively effected by the apathy and herd mentality of the mob masses..

Good post, Rawlady
Also, pick up the new $15 paperback edition of one of the best books, besides Creature from Jekyll Island, called "THE COMING COLLAPSE OF THE DOLLAR, AND HOW YOU CAN PROFIT FROM IT"... fantastic and good to hand out to the few you may care about

You made my day, Informant!

I was feeling a bit sad because I got an e-mail from a friend who told me to "stop talking about all this crap" because I overestimated her openness to my 'fountain of wisdom.'
I guess I need to stop throwing pearls before swine, but I keep urging my friends to get out of the dollar...Sometimes I find myself hoping the economy will HURRY UP ALREADY and collapse (because it is going to anyway) just so they will finally realize I was right---LOL.

You know, once you realize that the powers that be have their hands in EVERYTHING you can pretty much see their lies/conspiracies in ALL fields: medicine, education, military, finance, government etc. Do the opposite of what they tell you to, and you will be fine!

I am currently reading Peter Schiff's book. Does this other book have anything new to add???

I tried talking to someone

that actually use to talk to ME about the new world order and trilateral
commission back in the early 80's. And even though we are now seeing
allot of the stuff coming to pass that we use to talk about and
knew was coming..she has bought the main stream media lies and thinks I'm off the wall..ARGH !!

I haven't read Schiff's book

I haven't read Schiff's book yet (Crash Proof I assume) so I don't know exactly what's in it but I would hazard a guess that they are very different. The Creature is more or less a history of banking. It covers the mechanisms of fractional reserve banking and the creation of dollars. It also gets into a good amount of "conspiracy theory" stuff, much of which is true but I can't vouch for all of it. The Creature is the best book I've found so far in explaining the mechanics of our currency, its not going to give you any specific financial advice but it will help you understand what is going on better (not that you don't understand things now or anything but its a lot of information, some of which I had never come across before).

But is Schiff's book different from How to Prepare for the Comin

g dollar crash book??? It looks like the latter may just be repetition....

It probably is, though I

It probably is, though I don't really know. In any case, I'd go with Schiff's book on that topic given his success as a money manager.

It is....

c'est la vie!
