Are people schizophrenic?....... How can people vote to give Ron Paul a landslide victory to represent them in Congress yet the very same counties and voters then vote for McCain for the presidential slot. This needs to be addressed. What is it about Dr Pauls message that does not even resonate with his own constituents when it comes to presidential politics?

WOW!!!

I just had the most AMAZING revealation!!! People didnt' vote for him because they LIKE HIM, but didn't think he had a chance in hell of winning, so instead of voting for him as president and "throwing away their vote" they voted for McCain and Huckabee, whom they saw as possible winners. Just the same way people having been voting for candidates at EVERY ELECTION for a long long time.

Really? Anybody willing to 'fess up?

I have never been in those shoes, but I can try to imagine myself there. I would not do that, regardless of what the media would like you to believe about me. Me, you know, this odd, detached part of "they" that are always confounding your every move. So, I don't think I am that special, a pretty typical Ron Paul supporter. Is there something different about Texans? Would anyone who actually did that be willing to confess here, just to prove me wrong? Better still, explain why you did it? I just can't believe people who understand what Ron Paul is about would be that shallow. If I split my vote up like that, I would have a better reason. Myabe along the lines of "screw the rest of you, I want him here working for me" although that is obviously not a valid reason, either. (Him nearly alone in Congress will do less for all of us than him in the White House.)
Even if a few people did that, this seems skewed to me. Prove me wrong, split voters? Spill your guts, you are anonymous!

WOW... except that's the

WOW... except that's the media conditioned self-fulfilling prophesy that helps the fraud go down like a spoon full of sugar. Wake up!

Why do they need to risk

being caught committing fraud when they are experts at "conditioning", they simply need to condition the people to vote a certain way. No fraud required.

"AAAH HECK, I REALLY like that Ron Paul but there's no way he can win, I'll just be wasting my vote..."

This one is easy. Americans

This one is easy. Americans like to vote for a winner- whether he's the best candidate or not. No one likes to go into the office and say "I voted for the guy who got 5%."

So the hard core Ron Paul supporters vote for him, but those that are less committed say "well, McCain is going to win anyway and be my parties nominee, so I'm going to vote for him"

Brazoria County Congressional votes 11,463 President votes 3,611

Fort Bend Congress vote 3778 ......President vote 1950
Galveston Congress Vote 7962 .... President vote 1316
Victoria congress vote 3896 ........ President vote 893

Just in these 3 counties alone there were a total of 15,636 votes for Ron Paul for Congress!! BUT............. the total for the president slot from these very same counties is 4,159 votes.....Why the hell wouldnt Dr Paul get the difference of at least half of the votes that he got for his congressional seat. I am not suggesting fraud. I want to be clear about this.
I am just floored that his own constituents would "pull the lever" for Dr Paul for congress but not take the extra 2 seconds to vote for him in the presidential slot, or WORSE YET did they pull the lever for one of the other 2 guys????
I say the campaign needs to survey their constituents as to why this would happen.

Campaign Survey

I agree and will be calling headquarters with regard to this discrepancy. State wide it was a 1 to 5 ratio of voters from the 14th district voting yes for presidential versus congressional. Incredulus and therefore headquarters should make a study of this result top priority.

Yea, except vote fraud

Yea, except vote fraud exists and is an ironclad fact, so you need to consider that possibility in the equation as well.

Dont think it's vote fraud

I witnessed here in Colorado caucuses that Dr Paul would only get 5 to 10% of people supporting him. They went for Romney first and foremost than Huck and McCain in the same numbers. I came away from the caucus totally disillusioned. I actually went around to the different tables and confirmed these numbers. It was all done by show of hands and then written down on a piece of paper. The totals were at the most 10% Ron Paul.

In Presidential year elections

many people don't vote the whole ballot, they go and vote their chose for president and pretty much leave the rest of the ballot blank. So if you have say 10,000 voters turn out in the 14th Texas District, and say 800 are Ron Paul Supporters, then they mark him in both spots. So he has 800 votes for Congress and 800 for president. The other 9200 are none RP supporters and vote for McCain/Huckabee. Some of these McCain/Huckabee supporters DO vote the 14th spot, for Peden, though MOST just blank in McCain or Huckabee and leave the rest blank. And sure, there are going to be some that think he's a good Congressman but not President. Do some research before you cry voter fraud, you'll probably discover that only about 1/10 of the 14th district voters who cast a vote for Republican Presidential Nominee bothered to vote for the 14th Dis. Congressman spot.

Well scratch this idea

I just checked some of the results, and I'M WRONG.

Just checking the first 2 counties,

Aransas County, 300 votes for President, 2575 for Congressman
Brazoria County, 3611 President, 11,463 for Congressman

VOTER FRAUD!!! LOL!!!

I am not insinuating voter fraud

I like your explanation. But, I didnt know that someone who took the time to show up to vote for DR Paul for the congressional seat wouldnt vote him in for the presidential representative for the party. Makes no sense.

Here's some research

Here's some research buddy:

Please wake the hell up.

I must have seen that 5 times already

Why would they bother to committ voter fraud to keep him out of the Presidential race and, since they are already committing fraud, go ahead and give the race to Peden and kick RP out of Wahsington entirely?

His seat in Congress is a

His seat in Congress is a little less of a concern to these scumbags than the possibility of his new seat in the Oval Office. And if Pedenphile had won the fraud in that case would have just been utterly blatant and too risky. But the national race is different because they've built a perception in the public mind that McCain and the other establishment shills are winning/have won and so the fraud is swallowed that much easier.

Well said & I agree that

them "allowing" him to keep his Congress seat is of no threat to them; whereas the Presidency is a HUGE threat.

They also think he'll be "content" as long as he has his seat in Congress not to make too big a fuss when the sh** really hits the fan in the election and the vote count fraud runs totally rampant.

Good point, but

maybe after his stated commitment to keeping his seat they knew he would challenge any loss in his district if there was even a hint of impropriety. I'm not sure what to think of this but I think this discrepancy is worth examining.

"I killed the banks"

anyone from district 14 TX,

anyone from district 14 TX, what have you all been eating for the last two days or is it something in the air? It's stinky...you've better hope it was the mechine's fault.

Diebold vote fraud.

Diebold vote fraud.

This doesn't make sense

If they are going to committ voter fraud to keep RP out of the Presidential Race, surely they would ALSO committ fraud and kick him out of Washington entirely. Same exact machines counted the same exact ballots for BOTH races at the same exact time

No, it's down to what they

No, it's down to what they think they can and can't get away with. A Peden win would have been unbelievably blatant fraud, the national campaign is something entirely different though as already stated.

Simple

They thought he will be a great Congressman but not a good President

JLH -- what?

You make no sense. Who are you voting for again?

This is actually the most

This is actually the most "unreasonable" explanation that I've heard so far.

ANYONE who truly understands the message brought by Dr. Paul would by default support him as President. And even if not 100% of his supports did use such illogical reasoning, it sure as hell wouldn't be 70% of us.

What are you suggesting?

What is the reason than for this glaring discrepancy?

Nah, he'd be a good

Nah, he'd be a good president. Probably one of the best, but without a wide base of support you'd pretty much be a lame duck from day one.

Selfish?

Maybe they just wanna keep him for themselves!

LOL

Good one, may be it's true ;)

Crazy as a henhouse full of kittens

If Ron Paul himself came up to you and told you it was pretty much over you'd call him a troll... or you'd say, "Pretty much? So you mean there's a chance?"

Check out the counties in Texas

Look at "Voting Equipment Listed by County" PDF under Voting Systems

I just skimmed through them, but it looks like EVERY SINGLE COUNTY in Texas uses DRE or opti-scan electronic voting machines. No paper ballots.

http://www.sos.state.tx.u...

P.S. I know about tilting an election to 49/51% but adding hundreds of thousands of votes, hey why not? They've had years to perfect the software and modems on these machines.

Uh...duh

Election fraud--the evidence is EVERYWHERE. Someone needs to grab another vat-o-da-java.

Percentage of votes...

is calculated by the number of votes cast for a particular election. For example, say this is for a precinct chair position:
Candidate X won 70 votes
Candidate Y won 30 votes
---------------------------------------
total votes cast: 100 votes

Candidate X won 70% of the votes. That percentage is independent of the fact that 130,000 people voted for the POTUSA. 129,900 people didn't vote for the Precinct Chair position.

This would tell us that McCain/Romney/Huckabee supporters didn't cast a vote for Ron Paul to help him win his Congressional seat, nor did they cast a vote for Peden because he's not well-liked. Most voters simply refused (abstained) from voting for the Congressional ballot.

You also have to take into account that only U.S. Representative District 14 was allowed to vote for Ron Paul's Congressional Seat, while all of Congressional District 11 voted on the ballot for Ron Paul for President.

In other words, different counties voted on the two ballots, so it makes it hard to determine who voted for whom.

You can get the results here:
http://enr.sos.state.tx.u...

I agree and have been

I agree and have been thinking the same thing. I also find it odd that if my meetup in Columbus Ohio has 600 and the vote for the area is 3800 they are saying each one in the meetup basically got 3-6 other votes? And this is in a county where I drove everywhere and saw ZERO McCain signs.
I know I got at least a dozen to vote for him in my precinct. I am waiting for the official results but that will be a while. I will then see how many were in my specific precinct

meanwhile I have also called all local media and asked them why they keep repeating the false delgate count of John McCain. I tell them about thegreenpapers.com website that shows the true pledged count and he does not have enough pledged

Please all call you local media and ask them why they repeat false information instead of looking into the true numbers.

The truth is that there is

The truth is that there is no logical explanation for this because it's fraud.

I, like many other Ron Paul supporters, am very active with politics (I live in D.C. no less) and have talked politics with hundreds and hundreds of people in the last several months. Finding ANYONE who is a McCain supporter AND actually voted or plans to vote for him is very rare. I have found many, many Clinton and Obama supporters though. GWB has destroyed the GOP, and the vast majority of Republicans simply do not support him. And even beyond that, McCain's stance on illegal immigration would surely be enough for any self-respecting Conservative to shun his candidacy...And they did until very recently.

At my polling place - and many others in the VA/MD/DC area - there wasn't much of a Republican voter turnout in general. The numbers that McCain has been getting are so far out there that this situation deserves a high level of scrutiny. You can call it what you want, but I am convinced that this election is rigged. There have been so many unscrupulous tactics to derail Dr. Paul's candidacy during the course of this election that this simply cannot be denied.

And for those of you that don't buy into the "kooky" conspiracy theories, do yourself a huge favor and learn the real history of America...For it is riddled with conspiracy. From mass voter fraud, to denial of internment camps, to the Tuskeegee Experiment...the precedent is already there.

I'll Try & Explain That If You Can Explain GWB -- Twice

Vote RON PAUL 2008
_____________
I actually heard a CNN announcement today that showed a photo of RON PAUL and a message stating that he had won his District with over-whelming results; they went on to say he hadn't done too good in his home state of Texas, however. Nice of them to point that out wasn't it.

They also mentioned that DENNIS KUCINICH has taken control of his District as well. Don't remember them saying anything else about him.

As a side note:
-- I really do think this would be a grand ticket // RON PAUL & DENNIS KUCINICH. Both are friends, as I understand it. Both come from opposite sides of the aisle, as they like to say in Congress. I would think that might make for an ideal situation here in the USA // both sides (both major parties) being represented and not so much one-sided. Both take pride in remarking that they are the only true representative of their Party, that the others have lost their way. Just my wild thoughts triggered by this thread.

I have had that fantasy for a while myself

Then I picture myself riding to the convention on my unicorn escorted by the fairies... shhh - don't wake me up any more than I HAVE to be, OK?

Back in November someone

Back in November someone asked Kucinich who he would like to have as a running mate. His reply was Ron Paul.

He did fairly well....

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTI...

He got 10-15% in the counties he represented keeping McCain just under 50% in those counties. Face it The masses show up to vote for who they believe will be the winner, thats all.

remember the voting method.

As RonPauler wrote, they've been told he's not a contender.

The way we vote now (plurality voting), we can only boost one contender and can't leave a real opinion on them all. It leads to tactical, rather than honest, voting. And plurality ends up favoring, at most, two contenders, and two well-entrenched parties. See Duverger's Law.

If, however, we voted by scoring all the players the way we rate and score performance (0-5 stars, 0-99, even just "like"/"don't like"), then results from contests with more than two candidates can be very different, particularly in situations like the presidential primary in Texas' 14th.

This method is called "range voting", or the score system. We use it all the time in our lives, and yet we haven't sufficiently demanded to use it in our states' elections.

Establishment politicians aren't likely to see a problem. It's up to us.

Maybe they want him all for themselves!

Collectivism is slavery.

They didn't want to lose him

.

Because they've been told he's not a contender

They've been told they have to vote for Huckabee to make a "moral" statement.

They've been told they have to vote for McCain to settle the nomination quickly so the party can move on to defeating the Democrat Party's nominee.

They've been told Ron Paul cannot win. If they want to have a voice, they have to participate in the "two-man" race.

Remember also

Remember also they have been 'told' to vote for Hitlary also and "slow down" Osama. Apparently SOME did that as well.

Your analogy that "he's not a contender" is not far from the truth. We did a fair amount of phone and door to door canvassing and MANY said they would support him for Congress but not President "because he could not win" the nomination.

Most COULD not give a reason for not supporting him for President but I think it is the "sheeple/lemmings" syndrome. "Everybody else SEEMS to be voting for Insane so I will too." Forget their convictions, forget their reasonings, forget their allegience, just vote for who you THINK will be the winner. It is absurd but sure looks like what happens!

I guess we will see them in the bread lines and socialized medical offices in the future and can ask them "WHY?", again.

Afraid

Maybe they were afraid to lose him in congress. He is there for his people. As president he'd not be so available.

Selfish

would be another word......

Where's the vote?

I also don't understand why Ron didn't do better in Texas & elsewhere. All I kept reading on here was that "he's at the top of the ballot, he's doing to do great!" Then, these same miserable numbers. How could Huckster do better than Ron in his own state? Watching "Battle of the Jaywalk Allstars" this week made me realize that most people have a big airspace in their skulls. My husband & I will most likely be state delegates & I'm very thrilled to have the opp'ty to continue to support Ron, but my husband & I are going to have to pay $300 to participate. I hate to see this as money down the drain if we're just going to get steamrollered by McCain.

"How could Huckster do

"How could Huckster do better than Ron in his own state?"

Easy answer. We are, for the most part, a nation of couch potatoes. Media bias + media blackout is what gives McCain the biggest advantage and Huckabee also gets an unfair advantage from this as well.

If you tell a child that they will amount to nothing for years, it begins to have a real effect on them and they believe it.

The same goes for telling all the couch potatoes that Ron Paul has no chance. They believe it without knowing why.

It's our job to help educate them.

oh I'm sure those people

oh I'm sure those people like ron paul as a congressman, but would say "I dont think he could ever be voted to be president" or use that mentality to not vote for him as president
I mean, thats most people's excuses
1. not votable
2. one or two issues they disagree with

its the same everywhere
