Just saw this in a meet-up notice. It is from Marcus w/San Diego Meet-up and sounds like a super opportunity plus rather amazing phone call. If you live in San Diego & qualify get in touch with Marcus.
Hey Guys,
This one has been handed to us on a platter of sorts. The San Diego GOP called me and asked me if we can come up with a Republican (a Ron Paul Republican) to run against Bob Filner.
and to sweeten the deal....the party is willing to pay the filing fee (a savings of $1652). all a candidate does is get the required number of 40 signatures to be put on ballot. The thing is...the deadline is this friday...march 7th.
you have to be a current Republican for 12 months if you switched parties. If you been a new registered voter...a Republican for 3 months.
What this means is that the San Diego GOP will endorse a Ron Paul Republican!!!! we have to act fast on this.
The only flipside is that the only competitor is a Libertarian but if the Libertarian or the RP Republican wins...its a victory nevertheless.

yes.
Although not directly supporting Ron Paul over any of the other republicans, the San Diego Republican Party has been VERY receptive and tolerant of the Ron Paul republicans.

PEOPLE PLEASE post this all over the other websites that support ron paul, also a contact email or # for the SD meetup would be good. If we can find someone to run, WE CAN HELP him get elected.!!!!!!

Winning either way does sound good. That's the same tactic used by the CFR people... they are at the top of both political parties, it doesn't really matter to them who wins just as long as it is one of them.

there are many of us here in SD that would run for this congressional office, unfortunately, we changed our party affiliation within the last year to support Dr. Paul, which invalidates our nomination.

I'd do it in a second, but I only switched from Lib to GOP last fall. Marcus is a great guy, as energetic and dedicated as they come. There are lots of other great people in the SD meetup to choose from though, and hopefully one of them will pick up the ball and run with it. Filner is a career politician who needs to go down.
