Things I've Learned from being a Ron Paul Supporter

I became an instant Ron Paul supporter when I heard him say in a debate something to the effect that:

we're fretting about third world nations that don't have an army, navy or air force and don't have any nuclear weapons while during the Cold War we went toe-to-toe with the Soviets who had an army, navy and air force and had 40,000 nukes pointed at us.

As soon as I heard it, I knew he was right and I was wrong and I had a lot of learning to do. Well, I got busy reading books and stuff online and talking with people and here's some of the stuff that I would like to thank Ron Paul for opening my eyes to:

I learned about the Federal Reserve and the the inflation tax and how this is one of the most important and least understood issues of all.

I learned that if the government would cut spending it could easily function without the revenues it gets from the income tax.

I learned that we are are an empire and that our foreign policy needs to be re-examined if we ever hope to combat terrorism.

I learned how international organizations (UN, NAFTA, CAFTA, World Bank, IMF, etc.) threaten our national sovereignty by trumping our Constitution with their dictates.

I learned that the media is more controlled and controlling than I ever imagined.

I learned the difference between collectivism and individualism. Between a democracy and a republic. Between isolationism and non-interventionism. Between republican and conservative.

I learned what is meant by the rule of law versus the rule of man.

I learned that by ignoring parts of the Constitution we undermine the checks and balances built into it.

I learned that the Bill of Rights doesn't grant us any rights, but rather goes out of it's way to deny the government from infringing upon our rights.

I learned that we've already forfeited many of the civil liberties to the government of which the Bill of Rights was designed to protect us from.

I learned that security can not be achieved by sacrificing liberty.

I learned that there's solutions to our nation's toughest problems and miraculously it's all contained in a short document written over 200 years ago.

I learned that each and every one of us not only can make a difference, but it's our duty to stand up a do our part.

I learned that our similarities are MUCH greater than our differences.

I learned that education is the key.

I learned all of this and so much more in the past four months. These are all things that I KNOW to be true. I will do my best to teach my children these ideas. I will teach them to teach their children. I will share the ideas of liberty and the constitution to as many as I can. I will remain vigilant. I will remain involved. Dr. Paul cured my apathy.

I can relate, Ive been a ron paul supporter for over a year now and its amazing how much you learn, this forum has been incredible too.

One of the best, most concise postings I've seen

NICE JOB :-)

THAT is why we will win

This is why we will fight until we win.

I've learned that you should question everything.
I've learned that I want to keep learning.
I learned everything you said.

I've learned when other politicians say things that sound like Ron Paul would say, they are lying.

One more thing I'd like to

One more thing I'd like to add is that I've learned that there's a lot more truly responsible, conservative, freedom loving individuals in this country than I had previously thought. I also think that it's hard for someone to truly be against the message of liberty. I think that those who want to use power to help those less fortunate (whether it's the sick and the poor in this country or the oppressed in other countries) are sincere but misguided in thinking that coercive governmental power is a means to achieve those ends.

THANK YOU for writing that!!!!

i forwarded your words on to tons of people who don't get why i support RP. THANK YOU for writing that!!!!

I love it!

Can I use some of this for a letter to the editor?

Absolutely!!!

Feel free to use as you like and change to suit your needs.

I was a socialist. But Gore/Libermain ticket I went for Bush.

When Clinton was President I respected him, but didn't like him.
I thought the whole blow job deal was a waste of time and felt sorry for him. It was between him and Hillary.
I was a big time listener to talk radio and liked the 'screw the government' attitude.
When Bush and Gore were running they promised the 70 billion dollars would be spend on helping our senior citizens.
Then I read that Israel would return the Golan heights for 70 billion and stop the middle east crisis.
I thought that was so odd. That was exactly the money we had.
But then I thought why do I care?
Helping senior Americans seems so much better than a distant country I'll never visit or help the wishes of 2% of the American population.
So I did an internet search for how much we spent on Israel.
I was stunned. I wondered why we never read about it?
Then I searched who owns the media.
Again stunned.
So with Gore being with Libermain I didn't think it in our best interests to have a very pro-Israeli a heart beat away.
I did everything for Bush thinking he would support Americans.
It is very hard to admit you are wrong. Clearly I was. Very quickly I saw the government starting to lie.
Then 911 happened and none of that made sense.
Four planes hijacked and four building fall.
Except one plane crashed and the building still fell down.
I then saw the French brothers movie where the firemen came out saying they could hear the explosions.
Well, the rest is history. Where to turn?
Then there was Ron Paul.
Honest to goodness.
I hope I'm right this time!
I've converted 100's so I better be.

My Favorite Comments from Ron Paul Supporters

http://www.nolanchart.com...
When it comes to the cream of the crop in wit and wisdom, insight and intellect, you need look no further than Americans who support Ron Paul.

Paul Supporters Rock!

Ron Paul supporters have often taken a bashing in the media. In some individual cases that may be well-deserved.......

I've learned about the economy

I now understand the Federal Reserve and the "inflation tax." I never understood inflation until Ron Paul explained it.

I remember the days of the cold war. I was born in 1950, and I grew up with it. I wasn't scared then and I sure am not scared now of the so-called "terrorists."

The Soviets were bringing the nukes all the way to Cuba. That's when Ron Paul went into the Air Force. Kennedy stood up to them and blocked them.

Cheney, Bush and company remember it too. They're older than I am. They are just ripping off the future of this country for their "war contractor" friends.

The "war contractors" were doing the same thing during Viet Nam. That's why we got so pissed off. That and the draft.

This was

one of my 'aha moments' too. : )

The lesser of two evils is still evil!

Just started reading this book. Craving for the old days!

EXCERPT From When I Was a Kid, This Was a Free Country By G Gordon Liddy.

“I am a member of the last generation to remember what this country was like when it was free. When I was a kid, my buddies and I could walk down the street carrying a rifle, a handgun, or a shotgun that our dad or uncle had bought for us at the local hardware store, or through the mail (the way Bat Masterson bought his Colt revolvers). In the fall, the air would be redolent with the delicious aroma of leaves burning in the gutter. The farmer might be filling in a swamp on his land to make it productive. A man with a home on a riverbank might be cutting down a tree on his property because it blocked his view.

He also talks about how our forefathers left Europe due to stifling centralized govt controls over every facet of their lives. Sound Familiar?
When the hell will the States Step up and take control again?

One of the lines is incomplete...

I learned that by ignoring the Constitution checks and balances...

Kind of a cliffhanger... *bites nails*

Good eye...

Not sure what happened, but it should be fixed now...

"I learned that by ignoring the Constitution we undermine the checks and balances built into it."

Here's a prior post related to this:

Excellent post

I commend you for having the self-confidence to say "I knew he was right and I was wrong and I had a lot of learning to do." We've all had those moments, and we will all continue to have them as long as we live, but most people become defensive in those moments and refuse to accept that they don't know everything. We've all seen grown adults become little like little children in those moments, pouting in their stubbornness. It takes iron fortitude to look yourself in the mirror and admit that everything you thought you knew, could very well be wrong.

Congrats and thanks for sharing.

I'm a computer programmer.

I'm a computer programmer. It's part of my job to realize that no matter how sure I am that I coded something correctly, if the programs not working, it's not the computer's fault... it's mine. Once you have to accept repeatedly that what you "know" is true turns out to be false, you become more willing to question yourself on other things as well. Trying to find certainty becomes the problem.

is vote tampering possible??

So you think vote fraud is possible ?? check this out. http://www.youtube.com/wa... ........... or ...... you could be shocked at this .. http://www.youtube.com/wa... ... share this with everyone.

This is enlightenment!

An elegant theory is like that. Everything becomes clear, all of the seemingly disconnected facts come together and bolster each other. Unfortunately, until you understand the theory the connections remain invisible and to the unenlightened observer you appear to be "crazy" (i.e."paranoid"). That is why I like the saying "In the land of the blind the one-eyed man is in for one hell of a rough ride."

I am thankfull for all I have learned

I have learned so much that I can't even think of where to start. Now I know why I came so close to failing my government class all those years ago (no, I'm not proud of it). I believe I was taught something about "every vote counts", and "media is supposed to be unbiased in elections"... well, I won't go into that. Anyway, I have learned more than I ever thought I would about our government, the media, and our country. I am so thankful for this. My husband has learned from this as well... but more importantly, we have been teaching our children. I think that my 14 year old son is one of the best RP supporters that I know! I hope that they remember the lessons that they have learned this past year, and do all that they can to bring our country back to the way it should be.

Proud Ron Paul Supporter

Ron Paul and freedom

I believe in Ron Paul and his voting record over 10 terms in congress proved to me he practiced what he preached. He was real .........not deceptive like most politicians. ....... He believes in the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights. I have been voting since 1964. ....In all those years Ron Paul is the only candidate that proved true to his word. .... I will write him in in November if he is not on the ballot. I have voted 3rd party every election because I vote for the candidate not the party. .....I do not vote for the lesser of two evils. ... I believe in the government obeying the Constitution. I believe in helping people to protect their liberty. www.prepaidlegal.com/hub/... If you check out this web site and join I will spend my time and money helping Ron Paul and the candidates that he endorses this year. I will do so anyway. Roben

Amen

That is what it is all about. I was a die hard progessive who thought the constitution was not compatible with modern times. One man, Dr. Paul ended up teaching me so much.

The big difference is I have realized that socialism does not work. It does sound great, everyone getting help from the great government. But the only way to help everyone is though Dr. Pauls solutions.

ditto,,,,

you should put that in your local newspaper..

yes!!!

yes!!!

Great Post

In the last 10 months I learned all of those things as well!

It's amazing how clear things are to me now and when I speak to my friends and family about political and economical issues I seem to have the perfect and logical answers.

You know that saying, "Money makes the world go round"? Well, unfortunately it's true.

I came to the conclusion that our monetary policy and the Federal Reserve are the most important issues of our time. Our country and world will be a better place, once we wakeup and demand a sound currency that is not controlled by a central bank.

The Federal Reserve owns this country and is trying to own the world...with paper and a powerful military.

We can win the battle easily by educating as many people as possible about the illegal and immoral Federal Reserve system. No matter how powerful the bankers may be, they themselves know that their power can be taken away very quickly... All it will take is a mass awakening...

Great Post!

Your comments apply to so many of us here. We should be encouraged! Look at the education that has gone on. As Dr. Paul is quoted in the MSNBC article today, "the message is out of the box." I think you'd all agree that once you've heard the message and educated yourself, there's no going back. The message cannot be put back in the box!! In this way, the Ron Paul campaign has been a huge success!

Great Post!

I feel that way and more. The first time I heard Dr. Paul I was floored! Here was a man who was actually saying out loud all of the things I have been thinking and feeling about this country and our corrupt government over recent years. He not only renewed my faith in my own judgement but also taught me about so many things I had never even considered before.

Ron Paul's Candidacy has truly been a gift to the entire world!

Amen

Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

How True

I had turned the news off many many years ago because I knew in my heart what has been going on since I was a kid. At nearly half a century, It has all come to light and everything I thought, has shown to be true. I have told everyone in my family that should I disappear, or die for some strange reason, it will probably be due to my renewed patriotism. I am in it to the end of my days. I too have learned much and am sharing it with my children and any one else that will listen. Thanks for a good post.

Enlightenment

I became enlightened 5 months ago by the good Dr.. Knowing the truth actually makes life easier now. I can now decifer between what is important and what is trivial bullshit that you waste your time and stress over. It has helped me prioritize what's really important in life and also brought me closer to my faith in God. My life has been forever changed by Dr. Paul's ability to open my eyes. He's been a blessing and has made this world a better place.

That Ron Paul quote

opened my eyes to the absurdity of the "war on terror" as well! Thanks for sharing.

It's amazing...

how addictive freedom and the rule of law can be, huh?

Tell me about it... causing

Tell me about it... causing lack of sleep is not healthy!

I want to learn more...

it really is amazing when you start to list out the things learned. I too have learned these things in the past few months, but what's even more important is the fact that I WANT TO LEARN MORE.
I want to learn more about the actual duties and powers of the branches of the Government.
I want to learn more about how this all came to be.
I want to learn more about how we can change it.

The Truth Shall Make You Free

Well Said! I agree... I feel like I'm just getting started. I've got a whole list of books on everything from history to economics to foreign policy to political science and philosophy that I want to read. One difference I've noticed is that now when I read I feel like I'm doing a puzzle and I'm finding out how all the puzzle pieces fit together.

Exactly!

It's amazing when you have an ah-ha moment!!

Ron Paul helped to open my eyes to a philosophy of liberty (and transformed me from a democratic-socialist to what I would call a libertarian). It is my belief that individual human liberty is the highest cause, that liberty is the most powerful force in the human heart and that it is God that has given us all the love of liberty.

Thanks for a great post and discussion.

"We don't have to start a brand new revolution...All we have to do is restore the original Constitution." -Ron Paul

What a great post.
Lots of wonderful and insightful comments too.

I can do this all day!

This was a terrific summary

It's amazing to see the list of things we've learned from this true patriot go on and on and on. I can guarantee no supporter of any other candidate can make a list like this.

When I think back to only a few months ago, I am amazed at how little I knew -- I wonder where I had been all my life!

Ron Paul is a Teacher's Teacher!

What have others learned?

What have others learned?

Well Done

and exactly that which I have been reminded of and/or learned. Make certain Daddywarbucks sees this your post. This is what the country needs to hear and be taught.

I agree with everything you said.

I agree...

I learned that Fiat money is never as secure as 'real' money. Our economy is going down the toilet because our Government prints money out of thin air.

I learned what printing money out of thin air actually means.

Because of Ron Paul liberty dollars and because Ron Paul advocates the use of Silver and Gold, I have learned the importance of investing in such metals and now regularly make purchases at local bullion dealers. I have a nice little collection saved up (all of which has only increased in value). In some way, this is due to Ron Paul.

I learned lots about the election process, such as the differences between Primaries and Caucus, I learned canvassing, I became a Delegate and now understand the process in which the President of the United States is chosen.

Because of Ron Paul, I learned that the media truly is corrupt and they shouldn't be trusted to deliver accurate news.

Ron Paul inspired me to make my very first ever donation to a Presidential candidate. Many months later.. I'm still making donations :-)

Ron Paul taught me that when you sacrifice liberty for security that you actually lose both.

There are many things that I've learned in the last 7 or 8 months due to my support of Dr. Paul. This list could go on for a long time I believe as I'm sure many of us have been inspired and enlightened.

Ron Paul inspired me to get a new license plate.... :-)

Paul's educating

Thanks for the post. I believe that many, many people around the world have had the inspiration to take notice of what is going on after hearing a few remarkable words from Ron Paul.

'I always think of all you canvassors and precinct leaders at the front line.
Good luck out there &Thank you. It's appreciated'.-fip -U.K
