Time - Drug War
Our leaders? There aren't any politicians - Democrat or Republican - willing to speak truth on this. Instead, politicians compete to prove themselves more draconian than thou, to embrace America's most profound and enduring policy failure.
"A long habit of not thinking a thing wrong, gives it a superficial appearance of being right," wrote Thomas Paine when he called for civil disobedience against monarchy - the flawed national policy of his day. In a similar spirit, we offer a small idea that is, perhaps, no small idea. It will not solve the drug problem, nor will it heal all civic wounds. It does not yet address questions of how the resources spent warring with our poor over drug use might be better spent on treatment or education or job training, or anything else that might begin to restore those places in America where the only economic engine remaining is the illegal drug economy. It doesn't resolve the myriad complexities that a retreat from war to sanity will require.

Drug treatment is better than locking away the poor
As the war on drugs continues more and more of today's population is behind bars. In fact the prison system has doubled since 1985. If the politicians would spend money on drug education and treatment as opposed to incarceration and paying for more police to patrol the streets the average tax payer would have a lot more money in their pocket.
Thomas Paine was a brilliant writer Common Sense inspired me. It's a shame he has almost been completely removed from high school history books and is only mentioned as someone who encouraged others to write literature about standing up against tyranny.

If you have followed it for 40 years like me you have no other
conclusion.
I have a buddy who flew for AIR AMERICA. CIA front. Guess what was in his airplane? You think they did it just a little bit for spending money?

No conspiracy here, folks, move along please....C I what? Drugs? Not a chance. Impossible...you're crazy! Go watch Fox News...yeah that's it...you can trust them.
vote prisoners
Remember, you can't vote if you're in prison for smoking marijana...
7 Presidents Smoked Pot
Surviving correspondence of the first several presidents of the United States indicates that seven of them smoked cannabis / hemp / marijuana.
George Washington preferred to smoke the "leaves of hemp" rather than drink alcohol, in fact he disliked alcohol intensly.
James Madison was once heard to say that smoking hemp inspired him to found a new nation on democratic principles.
James Monroe, the 5th president, was introduced to hashish while he was serving as ambassador to France, and continued to enjoy smoking it until he was 73 years old.
When Adrew Jackson, Zachary Taylor and Franklin Pierce served as military commanders they each smoked hemp / marijuana with their soldiers.
In one letter to his family Pierce complained that the Hemp "marijuana" was the "only good thing about the Mexican War."

Remember, Hemp is Marijuana... despite the lies they try to tell you on TV they are the exact same plant.
If our founders were alive today they would be taking up arms on this issue alone.
I urge everyone to watch this
American War on Drugs Documentary..it is excellent!!!

The War on (some) Drugs
Ahh yet another failed war attempt. The feral government (sp intentional) has probably done more to incrementally undermine our liberty through this policy than most any other I can name.
In the last 30 or so years we have watched the ever increasing militarization of our local police forces, we send covert ops teams to foreign lands in the name of fighting narcoterrorism, (Mission Creep) and have institutionalized the undermining of our Constitutional Rights. Property and Asset forfeiture anyone? It is akin to debtors prison of old, only this time they take everything you own and then say, okay prove your innocence, and oh by the way, we'll only listen to the arguments we want to hear... LALALALALALA. Then a teenager tries cannabis, doesn't grow extra limbs, realizes they have been lied to by the institution they are supposed to trust, and begins to wonder... what other lies have I been fed? All the while we are judged on the content of our urine instead of our work products. That alone has had the unintended consequence of incentivizing individuals to try other more dangerous substances because their detection windows are shorter. Public Health Policy for our good? NOT. Meanwhile I bet you can find a whole bunch of pharmaceutical ads on television any time of the day or night. Add CODEX to the mix under the guise of international treaty and realize that we are being led down a bad path that probably ends at a cliff. Connect the dots of the Drug War, test tactics out on a segment of the population that has the least means of fighting back, is already marginalized and it becomes a great laboratory on social control. Not that I have any opinion on it.

Marijuana is Beneficial
www.abovetheignorance.org (Coffee is a dangerous drug, not marijuana)
It cures 3 kinds of cancer , treats alzheimers, depression, regrows neurons (something previously thought impossible) , treats ADHD.
It does NOT cause cancer. It has over 5,000 industrial uses that replace crude oil in every one of them. When allowed to mate (produce seeds) it is a great feed grian. The best source of protien of any plant on the planet.
It is the plant talked about in Ezekial 38. I will raise up a plant of renknown so that their will be no more hunger in the land.
It is sweet calamus in the bible used as part of the holy anointing oil. It is a part of every major religion and part of the sacrements of the ethiopian coptic church and was also a major part of early christianity and gnosticims. It is still used in religeous aspects in hinduism and preparing Bhang by sifus is a holy task.
Zarathursa the prophet of zorastrianism (the guy who foretold of the star of bethlehem and the religion of the wise men who sought out Jesus) wrote his prophecies after comming out of a "tent" where marijuana was burned and inhaled.
The constitution is written on Marijuana and most of our founding fathers grew it and Thomas Jefferson and George Washington exchanged smoking blends of it. They even discussed the various blends of Indica and Sativa.
Henry Ford built the first car to run off of ethanol from hemp and even built a car made from hemp composite. Hemp for Victory!
Why is coffee dangerous??
I really like my cup and a half each morning. Starts the day off right.
Avoiding the rest of your
Avoiding the rest of your comment, I am compelled to correct you on the Constitution. All our founding documents (Declaration, Constitution, Bill of Rights) were written on parchment, which is specially prepared sheepskin. Since this material was expensive and was not used as "scratch paper," the draft work was most likely done on hemp, and this is where the misunderstanding probably comes from.

Liberty for Dummies
Yes, I knew that the rough drafts were on hemp paper.
and the constitution on parchment.
The first and second drafts were written on Dutch Hemp Paper after addoption the final draft was copied onto parchment. The rough drafts are in the library of congress.
George Washington & Thomas Jefferson were both Hemp farmers and smokers. They traded smoking blends. Jefferson smuggled in Indica seeds from China. G,W, wrote 2 books about hemp.
Hemp was used to pay for military supplies for the revolutionary army. Without pot there would be no USA. Hemp is patriotic. Hemp was our first currency.
John Stossel did a great special on the drug war
a few years ago. Very informative. If I can find a link I will post it.

Good Citizens
This is the kind of journalistic honesty i would expect from a news reporter blowing the whistle on the reality of a flawed system, and yet it's from entertainment writers. I am really impressed with these individuals and glad to hear what they have said. They're exactly correct in their determinations as well. One of the main purposes of having a "jury of peers" involved in the court process is to prevent unjust laws from punishing our fellow citizens, and we should excersise that right more actively, instead of just nodding our heads as we're told. Now if only writers and journalists in the mainstream would have the courage to write like this, we might have a population of informed citizens, instead of a sheep farm.

It's about time....
When I started researching this War on Drugs....the more you read, the more insanely stupid it is. As though, the government is going to make sure no one ever chooses to do something stupid! Doing drugs can hurt a person, so can drinking and mountain climbing, and martial arts, and rugby, and driving a car.... The only way to eliminate risks is to keep people in glass bubbles----Welcome to the Matrix.
