New Mexico - 6/3/2008 - Let Win It!!!

I was just noticing that New Mexico has it's Repbulican caucus on June 3rd. Here's some reasons I'm thinking we should we focus on making Ron Paul known in New Mexico:

1. We have almost three months to get organized and try to get the word out.

2. School will be out so some of the students will be able to spend time canvassing and getting the word out.

3. This will be off the radar with regards to McCain.

4. It gives three more months for the country to realize that our economy is sick.

5. It will certainly be a huge surprise and will garner some media attention (since it would also seem harmless).

6. It will end on a good note for the Ron Paul delegates to have something to be excited about.

7. It's a caucus and Ron Paul has done better in caucus states.

8. Voter turn out will be low since the race will have already been "decided" by then

9. It's a border state and Ron Paul is the only strong candidate on illegal immigration.

10. Being far away will give us something to stay positive and focused on for the next three months and not get too discouraged with each passing primary.

This is just off the top of my head, but what do you guys think.

We need to get Gary Johnson

We need to get Gary Johnson there to barnstorm for Paul in NM as soon as possible!!

Not to be a collectivist, but...

Let's not forget that conservative illusion named Huckleberry is out leaving many voters wondering who they're champion will be for:

- Libertarian/Constitutionalists

- stopping illegal immigration

- home-schoolers

- family values/pro-life

- 2nd amendment rights

- veterans / active duty policeman

- Evangelicals

- Small government

- Those in the inner city - end war on drugs - Gary Johnson was strong on this)

- etc.

Realize that McCain will no longer feel like he has to prove his conservativeness... he assumes he's already won and his true blue colors will start coming out.

Sounds like you guys are

Sounds like you guys are liking this idea. I'm about to be off-line for a couple days but here's some thoughts:

1. Identify what issues are important to people in New Mexico and start working on some New Mexico specific slim jims, flyers, etc.

2. Contact the campaign and let's get their help in attracting attention to New Mexico. Maybe they can get Gary Johnson to help out.

3. Start getting familiar with all the radio stations, newspapers, billboards etc.

4. Find out all the rules for the caucus... is it open or closed? If closed, when's the registration deadline?

5. Contact the meetup groups their and find out what they need. By this point there should be a massive amount of Ron Paul stuff (signs, DVDs, tshirts, bumper stickers, etc.) that can be sent that way.

6. Start finding out who can go to New Mexico to help out. Find out if there's places these people could stay and any headquarters that could be set up.

7. Perhaps start planning for a Ron Paul march/rally for memorial day weekend.

8. See if we can pay theaters to have free showings of America: Freedom to Fascism.

Let's get creative. Let's be positive. Let's rally the troops. We can do this. Let's rekindle the excitement that we had Dec. 17th. Remember, the only thing that has changed is that we were forced to accept not as many Americans have tuned in to the message yet. We've got three months but we must act now. Educating people takes time, but as we know once they are awakened, they will want to talk to others about this. The message will only get stronger as the dollar continues to decline and the economy continues to go south.

you should add

the endorsement of Gary Johnson of Paul. Johnson was the previous governor of NM. Hopefully he can campaign with Paul...

Gary is a great guy.

He was a great Governor and I am sure he would proudly campaign with Dr Paul. He is very busy though. We would need to give him lots of advance warning.

Just curious

What's the delegate count?

And YES (but we should focus on more then one)

I think around 31

not much. Only around 2 million people.

Plus the immigration

issue is big there.

in Albuquerque

there is a strong anti big brother movement. We are dealing with Red Light Camera issue right now. It is having a huge struggle. One week the cameras are on, the next they are off. People are pissed.

New Mexico is prime for a strong Ron Paul movement

but the local meet up is a bit weak organizationally. The political squeeze here is tight though. Bill Richardson on one side and Pete Domenici / Heather Wilson on the other side. Richardson is a Dem who cut taxes and strongly protects the 2nd amendment. The old west mentality still rules. Lots of Libertarians here.

let do it.

I'm here in Albuquerque and we would love to win the state for Ron Paul.
