Books from the Ludwig von Mises Institute

You can order the following from www.mises.org or from Amazon:

- "What Has Government Done to Our Money?" (with essay "The Case For the 100 Percent Gold Dollar") by Murray Rothbard

- "The Case Against the Fed" by Murray Rothbard

- "America's Great Depression" by Murray Rothbard

- and other fine writings by other authors I can't think of right now, except for Ludwig von Mises himself. But Murray Rothbard is excellent in explaining free market Austrian economics to even the most novice among us. They also have a DVD of "Money, Banking, and the Federal Reserve" which is very professionally done and easy to follow.

I have a question or two

Doesn't the International bankers own the world's gold? Can they declare the value of said gold? Can they not force you to turn it over? and doesn't the bible say

Jam 5:3 Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

Eze 7:19 They shall cast their silver in the streets, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the LORD: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumblingblock of their iniquity.

Other media

The von Mises institute also has a ton of other free video and audio downloads. I just finished a series on Politically Incorrect History of the US. Great stuff!!!

Money, Bank Credit, and Economic Cycles

By Jesus Huerta de Soto is also available at the Von Mises Institute. If it's there, it is probably good. I don't know if anyone knows the (pretty famous) historian Paul Johnson? Well, I read him a few years ago saying he eagerly looks forward to reading the Austrian Journal of Quarterly Economics, put out by the Mises Institute. These ideas are really catching on! Paul Johnson was writing some pro-war things when the war started, for National Review and so on. I haven't read him writing anything positive about the war for quite a while....

His best book that I have read (an excellent book) is Modern Times, about the twentieth century - if anyone is interested. Not RPR stuff really but a great start and a general overview of last century. The chapter on the French in Algeria is worth reading alone. And it is certainly eye-opening about how corrupt the UN was from the get-go.

Money, Bank Credit, and

Money, Bank Credit, and Economic Cycles is an excellent book for the laymen economist, it is involved and meaty. Well worth it.

Recommendation

I'll definitely be picking up a couple of these books. I just finished Human Action by Mises (which is available for free as a PDF file).

Can you recommend something specifically on money/credit theory?

The Theory of Money and Credit

The Theory of Money and Credit by von Mises is the foundation of Austrian (or Capital-based) macroeconomic theory. The only problem with this book is that it is a little dated in terminology and banking practices. It was written almost 100 years ago.

Rothbard's What has Government Done to Our Money? is a good short treatise that relates to money.

I would like any suggestions for clear descriptions of the nuts and bolts of The Fed/banking/treasury/bond market cluster f&^k.

Thanks
