CNN falsely claims Jesse Benton, Campaign Spokseman says Ron Paul is ending his campaign.

Who better to believe

I just called HQ and they stated that CNN was going off of the video and Jesse Benton simply reiterated what was said on the video. There was never an official "statement" of sorts.

She also pointed out to me that the media has been reporting for weeks now that the Good Doctor had already dropped out...so there's something for you to think about.

Don't get up in arms and pissed off, especially now. I've said this before, we need to work together. Lets keep this movement rolling. This is not a time for us to tear apart and get angry with each other. Plus when was the last time you trusted CNN? I'm a broadcast major and find that place to be evil (along with Fox and MSNBC).

stop and think about the stealth campaign concept.
think about it in terms of us vs media credibility....if we don't give up but instead quadruple our efforts to get his message out, think about how that will be received.
think about the delegate situation and past elections where people have come out of the dark to win.
think about the other choices voters have and we still have 7 more months of flying dirt to go.
Think about what could happen if diebold is gone......

....your heading to: Jesse Benton is *not* a Wordmaster. Don't waste energy on what he did or didn't...should or should not have said. He *never* says things very well (LOL). We all have our weak and strong points. My understanding is that he has worked tirelessly for the campaign...he just isn't a very good spokesperson. WE have LOTS of great spokespeople. Besides,
a little confusion isn't all bad now. Wheel out that trojan horse...and let the warriors pour out!

Until I hear for myself from Ron Paul's mouth. I heard this on the noon news local channel here in Ma.I was sick to hear it but didnt believe it.I refuse to belive it till he says so

good job, have to congratulate you. Did you and others listened to the two radio interviews with Ron Paul, that one can download via ronpaulforpresident2008.com ? In it Paul also says that there could still happen a few things between now and RNC, as he said before as well. I think he is realistic, and also does not give up. We know the chances of getting the nomination is slim - but NOT zero - currently, but that could change significantly with one or more of a few issues, which could saw the nomination to Dr. Paul's favor: McCain making a mistake, for instance a wording, his past mistakes may come to haunt him with more revelations to follow, he looks much older than Dr. Paul and something could happen with his cancer or health situation (not that one wish that, but is possible), the economy and USD can deteriorate significantly further over the next few months, there could be an impeachment against Bush/Cheney & Co (which could really sway the apple cart away from the neocons), or also from overseas there could be the treat of legal action announced, once Bush/Cheney end their terms (and loose their diplomatic immunity), many conservatives in the GOP are not happy with McCain (to put it lightly) etc.

The media of course already see McCain as the nominee since a few weeks already. IMHO Paul should - once the money came in last year - appointed really experienced, professional campaign managers that could lead, while integrating his existing friends in the process, e.g. dynamic,, pro-active people in their deep forties or in fifties that are experienced and eloquent to know what to say, how to say etc. What is important is to go FULL OUT for the maximum campaign and delegates in the remaining states, mostly where Paul should in any case be favorable than some past ones in any case, with PA (the biggest one), where he was born and well known, many Amish etc farmers etc. In NC he has Walter Jones as friend and in NM the ex-governor Gary Johnson. He will get a lot of attention with performances of 30% plus, which is possible and will maximize the support in those states. Furthermore the antiwar McCain delegates especially, but also Huckabee's, Romney's, and Thompson's delegates should be targeted. Many of them may NOT want to vote for McCain.. We should also work to get Murray Sabrin elected senator, now only one other contender, as the rich lady dropped out because of health reasons this week. Tom McClintock, that will be campaigning for a congress seat after his senator position finishes in January, could also be an ally and the Paul campaign should see a strong contender/candidate as a senator in his place and support all the other RP Republicans in CA, NH, FL and elsewhere.

If Dr. Paul does not get the nomination, the Paul supporters can vote in congressional seats, but not in presidential race, or write-in campaign. It may be the best for the party to get rid of the big govt. conservatives if the GOP loses the presidential election, although it would be bad for the country for four years. In this way, the small govt. alternative will become fashionable again and can work towards a 2010 mid term landslide for the GOP and Paul as senator or governor or RNC chairman?

Not another dollar, not another call, not another walk for me. I'll go to my meetup and try to change this nation, but I won't give another ounce of my work to the Ron Paul Campaign.

Called up the National Campaign today and they confirmed-John McCain is 20-30 delegates away from clinching the nomination. They made it clear that Jesse Benton was echoing Ron Pauls obsequious statement. Ron Paul is out, he's back in Texas to stay.

From PA this is not acceptable. We worked hard to put Ron Paul at the top of the ballot. I called, talked and tried to convince people who I never would have before. I will now be seen as the person who is wrong, wrong about a presidential candidate who said he would be true to his word. Wrong about the people whom I trusted to lead a Revolution. Wrong about a nation of that could change its way before a coming collapse. I realize today that I was wrong and politiking for liars like the Ron Paul campaign is over.

Dr, Paul himself. If this info was disseminated to the OM without Doc's consent or knowledge OR found to be untrue, Jesse's head should roll.

How do any of you get that what Benton said means Ron Paul is dropping out. I read the statement 3 times to be sure and he said no such thing and he also said this which shows he is not dropping out.

Benton said the campaign encourages supporters to continue to take part in primary process and that Paul would honor requests from supporters to speak.

CNN can spin this all they want he is not dropping out.

it seems like he's happy to return to the shadows. If he's dropping out or admitting defeat he needs to do it with a little more flair and definition! He needs to hold the voters accountable for not picking him, and blame them for what they are about to get. he needs to tell people that they are acting like sheep and following just what the military industrial complex is dictating them to do....

Needs to do something about this in a big way. There are other states left to vote. If he really said that quote, we are in serious, serious trouble, translated over. Jesse Benton must speak up now.

As stated earlier on my husband talked with Mrs. Paul and she also said that Dr. Paul is still running for President. I don't know how much closer to the truth you can get. Dr. Paul is still going strong and is not quitting! Please rest your minds everyone.

OK, CNN just showed RP as a “fmr Presidential candidate” - I believe that’s former, as in not anymore. They flat out said he is dropping out. What’s going on here? In the video, he says to keep voting, becoming delegates, and donating. Why does this have to be so ambiguous? Just like the Feb 8 email. Is this a psy-op of some sort? What are we supposed to do? Can someone in the know please clarify exactly what the plan is? Why would he want us to continue voting, becoming delegates, and contributing, if he’s a “former” candidate? Someone needs to step up to the plate and give up the facts. Thank you.

That tells me enough that Ron Paul has not outright quit. Jesse Benton is the worst PR disaster this campaign has ever had. Dr. Paul should fire his ass !
