The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America

The author, Charlotte Thomson Iserbyt, worked her way up through the board of eduction all the way to the National board...She was very disturbed by what she witnessed and carefully documented it in
a huge book that I was almost too dumbed-down to read! (I could only handle about 10 pages a day, and waded through it the entire summer...)
This book is a bit technical, loaded with court documents that PROVE that yes, folks, there IS and has been (since the 1950s) a gradual and deliberate dumbing down of America.
The way they do it is by controlling the schools through the Dept. of Education. (Ron Paul is so right in wanting to get rid of the Dept. of Ed!) The US govt. pays money to the schools that do what they demand, and that involves curriculum that on the surface may appear OK but actually lowers critical thinking. The Dept. of Ed also requires that the students pass these yearly tests, and the teachers are so stressed about "teaching to the tests" that they can't really enjoy teaching.
Another way they do it is by influencing the colleges that teach teachers. They are CONSTANTLY changing the methods, confusing and frustrating the teachers and students.
I can vouch for this from my own experience, with years of teaching in public schools, especially in the lower performing ones. I recall when an entire generation of kids were taught to NOT read, by using the "whole language" approach. It was ridiculous. It was intentional. It was destructive.
According to the author, the global agenda is to gradually switch us to Communism and have a dumbed down labor force.

This is an excellent article that really helps to confirm my suspicions of our "education". This is a system that helps secure the plutocracy (rule by the wealthy) in that rich and powerful families send their kids to private schools to learn how to continue being rich and powerful, while the vast majority go to public schools to learn how to service the rich and powerful.
I find the one bit most interesting. The author mentions the idea that this form of "schooling" that was in use in Germany was key to training their masses to accept Hitler's ideas and follow him into World War II. Now that schooling system exists here, where we seem to following a very similar path. Scary stuff.

I shared this with my calculus classes and the students felt the article was right on. I am constantly sharing the Ron Paul campaign with them and have had several say they will vote for him.

One last note, I'm a product of the whole word reading method and I still, after years of copious reading, writing and engineering school, have a very difficult time writing to convey meaning. The attacks on our brains have worked well, but not well enough that we can't figure out what is being done.

The whole thing is designed to keep you enteratined and make you more moronic with every show. Yes it can be entertaining but have you noticed that every American idol has been the same night and same time as each of the presidential debates ?

i watched a video about this and they took ten canadians ten americans and ten bulgarians into a class room and gave them the same test. the american kids rated 60% less than the bulgarian kids and 40 % less than the canadian kids.
