APRIL GOT 100%
You may remember my account of my 11 year old stepdaughter doing a report on the election. The teacher (in Ripon, WI "Birthplace of the Republican Party", no less) assigned them to do a report on one of the candidates still in the race, Hillary, Obama, McCain, or Huckabee (in at the time).
April reminded the teacher that Ron Paul was still in the race and she persisted, with the help of her best friend, in wanting to do her report on Dr. Paul. After trying to dissuade April, the teacher finally relented.
April is not one who will usually stand up to a teacher (and usually she shouldn't). This was out-of-character for her, but I was thrilled she stuck to her guns this time.
Today we finally learned that April got 100% on her report. We will be celebrating.
output

Way to go April!!
You should be very proud of her. April is very fortunate to have you and her mother showing her what a real Constitutionalist is all about. She has given her teacher and classmates something to think about. Way to go April!!
Go Ron Paul
Those Wanting to Read
her report:
I don't know if I can get it online without typing it out myself, and I'm not going to do that.
She basically gave Dr. Paul's positions from his website, stressing the importance of adhering to the Constitution and the concept of freedom.
I'll see if I can give more if she brings the report home.
Way to Go!!!
I do remember that and I was wondering how that report turned out.
I'm so proud of her!!! Please pass on to April (and her friend) my Congrats!
Congratulations April!
Getting 100% on anything in school is difficult....way to go girl!
My daughter too knows about Ron Paul and is learning about the Constitution and personal liberties.
Now she wants to be home schooled! LOL
In my best Mr Burns voice

Have a slice of pepporoni for me at the party :) Or if this is "Dad" reading this, a nice cold beer.
High five's from Chicago.
Dad
I'm her stepdad, but she spends more time with us. Her biological dad voted for Huckabee. I told her to always refer to Huckster as "Tax Hike Mike" in his presence.
Woohoo!
=)
Great!
My 7 y/o daughter was asked (for MLK Day) how she could make the world better in memory of MLK. Her answer was to elect Ron Paul for President! I guess they do listen? I've never been more proud.

Congrats April!
Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
I'm So Proud of April!
Honestly, regardless of the score someone else decided she "deserved", she is one girl to be highly commended and lauded. For the teacher to award her 100% is just icing on the cake (and I wonder whether the teacher him/herself has been mulling over the ramifications of April's report!). I'll echo the request (with April's permission, of course) to post her report -- there is a large audience here anxious to hear what she has to say!
Oh, I was wondering what
Oh, I was wondering what this thread was about, lol good for April and I'm sure she has learned an valuable lesson.
Children are so intuitive they know whats right, morally.
Congratulations to April!
This will be a life lesson she remembers forever. Good for her family for celebrating it!
PLEASE! Post the Report!
I would love to read it!!!!

Two Thoughts
I hope April knows that you would be just as proud of her if she were writing a report on Alan Keyes. The principle here is speaking truth to power, and I wouldn't want her to think she must agree with you politically to be appreciated!
Also, I hope April knows that you would be just as proud of her if she had been given a 50% by the teacher. Otherwise you're being proud of her for getting something from authority instead of the real accomplishment of self-determination.
I'll bet she remembers this for the rest of her life. Good job, April!

Other Candidate
I probably wouldn't have been proud of her for doing a report on any other candidate. Dr. Paul is the only one who truly stands for freedom and the Constitution.
But it didn't matter what score the teacher gave her, I was thrilled that she did the report on Dr. Paul, and I know she did a good job on it. But it's icing on the cake that she got a perfect score.
Teach Your Kids How and When to Stand Up to Authority
And also how to deal with being at the losing end of a battle. Even in those cases they "can't win" they need to learn how to continue to stand up for their rights.
I can remember a couple of instances where my Dad went to school to speak to the teachers. It made me feel good that my views were valuable to him. He was usually able to get the teachers to understand their errors. ;)

Anarchist - question for you
When is the last time you spent a day in a classroom "teaching." When is the last time you taught somebody something you didn't understand? Am I saying every teacher is perfect -- no -- give me a break -- we are all human.
This is one thing wrong with our society -- the disrespect given to teachers! In other countries like Japan, teachers are treated like lawyers and doctors. Not only in pay but in attitude. It's a respected profession. It's no wonder their educational system ranks among the best.
You have no clue what it takes to be a teacher!!!
No wonder this country is a mess -- over worked, under paid, disrespected teachers! Teachers are educators, social workers. nurses, psychiatrists, food and clothe providers, friends, parents...etc...the role of the teacher is endless and is one of the most important professions to our society. Don't take the "system" out on teachers!
God Bless America!
Schools and the race to Facism
Why is it that even here people cannot understand the way the system is set up? We are taught in the damn schools that we cannot stand up to the teacher or the principal...WHY?
There are words that we cannot say to them...
The Supreme Court has ruled that telling a State Trooper to go F&^# himself is Constitutionally protected speech...as it should be...why does that not apply to a teacher?
There are places in the school that we cannot go...WHY?
Because our kids are taught that they are second class citizens...
My son got in all kinds of trouble last year at middle school...which is across the street from the high school where my wife teaches...he would walk to her school every afternoon...and he got continual hassles from the bitch that told him..."Thats a TEACHER'S door..." WTF
I told him to grab the bitch by the ear...lead her to the principals office.... and call me!
My wife talked him outta it...
That sux

Please don't lump all teachers into one opinion
Yes, I agree the system isn't perfect...in fact all the more reason to support Ron Paul getting rid of the NCLB. Most teachers and administrators want to get rid of this, too!
For some teachers and administrators you are correct -- don't ever questions anything they do. I would agree with you -- this is not a good way to teach our children. However, I have got to disagree with you about students never being able to question a teacher or an administrator. I have experienced several occurances of students questioning a decision--in a diplomatic way. That is the different -- it's about respect and how something is approached. You would not believe the disrespect teachers these days put up with by students. Where are students learning this disrespect? There are ways to question decisions without being disrepectful.
Unil you've spent a day or a week or a year in a public classroom---you should be careful how you judge and what you encourage your child to do. "grab the bitch by the ear!" Are you serious? What is wrong with you teaching your child to talk / act like that -- even if you were "joking." I'm sure even Ron Paul would disagree with you!
I am not following what you mean by going through a certain door, but there does need to be places in a school which are only for school staff. It has nothing to do with treating children like second class citizens. Did you ever hear of confidentiality?
Lumping...

Not joking at all...I wish he had. Thats exactly what that Fascist bitch needed...
I'm sure even Ron Paul would disagree with you!

It was a door to OUTSIDE...the closest door to his mother's school...this was ALL ABOUT showing her power...and that she was ABOVE him...

Again...
I'm not excusing what one teacher may have done, but please don't assume all teachers are like that. Also, it's not just teachers who do this unjustly. It a human character flaw -- it has nothing to do with the fact a person is a teacher. Someone doesn't have to be a teacher to show "power" were power isn't needed.
Since your wife is a teacher, I'm sure you would agree -- not all teachers are like that. To teach your child violence as a way of disagreeing is wrong. Your child's actions would be no better than the teacher's actions / words. Let's face it, in life there are always going to be things people say which we don't like. To always resort to violence and foul language (especially with a child) is wrong! How about teaching your child how to discuss / debate in a polite and respectful manner. Did you ever hear the saying "Kill them with kindness?"
I am by no means saying your child interpreted what the teacher said in the wrong way, but what if a student interpreted what your wife said in the wrong way. The students reaction was to call your wife a bitch and yank her by the ear?
I realize this is kind of getting of topic as far as Ron Paul is concerned, but I truly believe he would not agree with you on this one.
Good. I usually don't
Good. I usually don't advise challenging teachers, but I remember one time in a science class we talked about the 3 primary colors. The teacher said "red, yellow, and blue". Well, of course that's true, but not completely accurate. I had remembered seeing in an encyclopedia before that class that the article described TWO SETS of primary colors - one for light, the other for pigment. (The set for light is "red, green, blue"; hence, the color in your television, etc.) The set the teacher described was for pigment, so I raised my hand and mentioned about the two distinctions. She said she would look that up, and if I were right, she'd give me bonus points on my next test. Sure enough, she saw I was right and gave me the bonus points.
I know that's off topic here, but the point is I believe when all is said and done that the best education is self-education. Instructor-led education, especially in an environment controlled by the federal Dept. of Education and the individual states and school boards, is always going to be limited at best, manipulative at worst. Some instructor-led education is necessary, I believe, for foundation (reading, writing, math, etc.) but beyond that, education should be self-directed.
????
My only question is this...
April is not one who will usually stand up to a teacher (and usually she shouldn't). This was out-of-character for her, but I was thrilled she stuck to her guns this time.
Why should she usually not?
Wrong is wrong...it should not matter if it is a teacher (BTW my wife is a teacher) a cop, the President...if someone is wrong...CHALLENGE them...

Dave
If the Teacher
is wrong, yes, but I don't want her to have a spirit of rebellion against rightful authority. She is still a kid and the teacher is still an adult. If she starts rebelling against teachers, next it'll be parents, pastors, and police officers. Eventualy it will be judges and prison guards.
There are situations that call for rebellion, but we don't need to breed rebellious attitudes.
I advised my granddaughter
to do the same. It can easily be done in a very non-threatening respectful way. We should teach then to be assertive and polite - works wonders.
Do not challenge directly to embarrass, but I suggested to her just say;
...that's not my understanding of ... and then explain.
Please...
let's teach our children to have discernement and use the wonderful brains God has given them. As posted, this can be done in a respectful manner and should be encouraged in an educational environment.
That's the danger we see in today's schools with the 'group-think' menatlity.
Great news!!! Congrats to
Great news!!! Congrats to the young lady!!! I would be very proud..
You both get Gold Stars!

I love it!
Now that is a good post! Tell her this Troll said congrats.
Ya know, I learned something today...
What April received from her parents was an education. What she received from her teacher is called "programming". Don't you love how some children are still able to challenge this programming based on their own valid observations and the support of their parents?
Education
I have made sure the kids know what the candidates stand for, and our "Ron Paul Blimp" is still hanging from the light in the living room (it was an inflatable blimp that came with a kid's meal at a fast food place, I applied the RP blimp stickers to it).
Her biological father voted for Huckabee, but April, and her younger brothers and sister, know the difference between "Tax Hike" Mike, and the "Champion of the Constitution", Dr. Paul.
I've played some of Dr. Paul's YouTube videos for them, including the Chicago rally I attended and met Dr. Paul at (got his autograph on my "America Needs a Doctor!" sign).
That's wonderful !
That's is really awesome. April should be very proud of her work. That teacher sure was'nt up to date, that's for sure. Good job April for sticking to the way you wanted to do your report :-)

People worldwide support Dr. Paul too !

Nice story,
I can only imagine the April's report must have opened the teacher's eyes to the message of Ron Paul.
Thanks
I do remember...
WOO HOO!!! Way to go April! That's really great news, thanks for sharing with us! :)
